I have a very different methodology to you but I know that you are a fundamental good teacher. It is clear that you love it and are good at your particular style. The recent criticism on reddit should not slow you down for even a second. Discord chat is often informal, and the humour is catered to your audience of the moment. Unusual characters are what the creative industry is built on. You are unquestionably unusual and I like your participation. Past present and future. You will get through this. Good luck.
Cheers Ian, ah well you know these days ppl get offended because someone said "good morning" too late into a day. I am direct and demanding, but always willing to help those who show motivation and drive. These are the ones worth our time. There are two types of people, those who complain and blame others for their situation, and those who get up and do something about it. There is no place here for the former and never will. The latter will always find support at Blender Bros. I appreciate your post mate!
Thank you very much for your useful video. I'm about to start hard modeling. I have a question about addons. I would appreciate it if you could tell me what is the difference between addon hardops and boxcutter.
Well, watch my vids on YT and you will get the idea (i have specific vids for each addon), hops is loaded with useful tools that overhaul or simplify a lot fo blender task, andBC is basically a bool machine
It was great to see your Boxcutter and Harops work flow as well. I am still going through your beginners hardsurface tutorials using machine tools only. I was wondering what levels of detail you consider blockout, mid level and tertiary level. I literally put blocks together to get a form and see if I like the general shape of things. I do not even get in to Bevels and chamfers. It is a habit from CAD. You do not apply Bevels unless you are absolutely sure or things can get messy fast. It is easy to do it in CAD software as its parametric with timeline so you can go back in time and suspend a feature then continue your work as if nothing happened. Blender is way different mentality but I like as it keeps you on your toes. Reminds me of the old days of cad software. Would it hurt to just keep blocks until you are satisfied with the overall shape. I guess it is a preference question on Destructive and non destructive work flow. I have been watching a lot of your videos throught the academy and I realize you prefer a more destructive work flow in Blender compared to Josh. Watching you actually design made me realize I need to balance both to speed up the processes as I get better and when I know what I want the end result to be. This realization actually changed how I do CAD work as well as.
it depends, sometimes it's ad lib and sometimes i look at refs and then model, and another time i have a specific ref and i simply go off of visual cues
I admire how quick you are mate, I am as slow as drugged turtle even when I am more or less confident with procedure. I really need to find a way how to improve it.
