Apple can learn something from Dell - remember the "up the nose cam" well that did not last too long. So in all reality the camera can be easily replaced, I had two screens that I needed to repair and there is plenty of room in there if I look at the Dell XPS series and the HP laptops. Those cameras fit but now comes, of course, the next thing, Apple has not only the camera to worry about, the sensor for the backlight of the keyboard and the True Tone and Dynamic dimming is integrated in that cable, so they will need to create a new cable run, which means the existing stock of screens will need to be changed over. This can mean that the chips on the motherboard also need to be adjust and so on and so forth. Yes, it would be fantastic to see a 1080p 60FPS camera, but in reality the huge move of their production lines to Taiwan and India and the humongous sourcing and logistic nightmare because of the pandemic will mean that there are rabbits to be pulled out of hats. Upgrading the CPU will already cost a fortune to adjust the current board and I have not seen any on a test bench yet. If the rabbit is going to be delivered it will most likely not be until after the iPhone event. I have the 16" base and I paid a very nice price for it here in Canada, it is still a lot of money, but I will not go back to the 13" model. I have had 3 different ones in 2018 and 2019 from base to highest end and I just can't get over the thermal issues. This is personal, of course, because I am the one with the sensitive skin on my hands and so be it. However, there are lots of engineers where I work that would never go to a larger model, the portability and the speed of the 13.3" is all they want.

I need portability, but for 210 euros I get a GPU and better CPU (even if from the previous generation). It's 600 gr heavier, which is basically only the weight of a water bottle.

I bought mine in December and am satisfied with its performance, I hope that this Macbook Pro will be useful to me for more than seven or eight years, like my old Mac mini from 2009 until last year served me.

My macbook pro is the 2015 13inch version and still works fine, but the 16inch looks so attractive haha
I bought mine and I hope it lasts as long as my old 2012 that I used for 8 years. Still fast and works well but its great. Sold it for $550.
I just ordered one of these yesterday, refurbished from Apple, and saved over £600. 8 Cores, 32GB RAM and 2TB storage. It arrives tomorrow. I can't wait! I've spent the last three months trying to decide what new Mac I should buy for video editing, and finally settled on this. Thanks for making me feel even better about my choice :D

I have a MBP 16 (base model) and now I wish I can return it. It has very serious thermal issues. The computer would frequently freeze due to overheating, sometimes even right after it boots up with no apps running in the background. The CPU load would go up to 100% easily because of overheating, and the fans would run at full speed. Even browsing the web would be sluggish. In fact a lot of times it is even underperforming my 2018 13" macbook pro. I did some research online and realized that this is actually a very common issue among all macbook pro 16 users. I know some people really love this macbook but I just want to tell people my experience so they know the risks before deciding to buy it. Don't base your entire buying decision on these RUclips review videos. These videos are great but they mostly serve the purpose of entertainment. Instead do some thorough research on sites such as Apple's support forum and see what actual issues and frustrations other users are experiencing.
When will the update for the intel 10th gen chips come?

Love my 16” MBP. Wouldn’t want a smaller screen. I’m usually working on a iMac but when I want to get more comfortable, the MBP handles everything I do in FCPX like a champ.
If you had to choose only one, and do FCPX/Motion, 3D, etc... which one would be it? With the 16” you would still have access to external screens besides the built in one.
Alej M-C between a MBP and iMac? iMac and it’s not even close. Way more horsepower. CPU, RAM, GPU - all superior.

I want a refreshed 16" MacBook Pro with WiFi 6, New 10th gen processors and New AMD GPU'S.
It needs 10nm Tiger Lake CPU, so that integrated GPU does not suck and MacBook can run all the basic apps without sucking extra juice and throwing out extra heat for no real reason like it does now, heavily relying on AMD GPU since Intel UHD 620 is terrible.

Question: I found an open box Certified Excellent base MacBook Pro 16 at my local Best Buy for $1,795. There’s an open box Excellent of the version with the i9 processor & 1TB for $2,200. Do you think the two extra cores & extra storage is worth the extra $400? Do you think I should wait for the updates this fall? I’m really hoping Apple will update to WiFi 6 when it refreshes the MBP 16 with 10th gen processors.

Hi Max, first of all thanks for doing all this work 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏. Now, latest update of Premiere Pro is a huge one, but unfortunately only for Windows... How about testing PP 14.2 in Boot Camp and see if you could get any of those much sought after improvements on a Mac, particularly the use of GPU? Or use an eGPU with a supported card?

Which version is better if I want to MAXIMIZE battery life for day to day activities like streaming music and surfing the web: the 6 core i7 or 8 core i9. I would have thought the i7 but the i7 runs a higher base ghz so could that mean that for easier tasks it uses more power? Thank you for any help. Great video :-)

I just bought the I9 macbook pro and have a couple questions if anyone can help. I played a couple matches of Pokemon TCGO and each time my macbook has given me the spinning loading wheel between matches whereas my OLD 2012 macbook air doesn't do this. Mine also gets decently hot just browsing the internet. I have turned on the Dedicated graphics and it doesn't help. Is this actually normal or is mine just messed up? Thanks 😀
If you go to Activity Monitor, what processes are running and occupying the most CPU. Mine ran a photo analysis process for about 18 hours when new where, to my understanding, it was performing facial recognition on existing photos. This could be occurring. Alternatively, you may have a hung program.

I intended waiting for the 16 inch MBP redesign this year. However the new 13 inch did not convince me was worth waiting. Ended up purchasing an Apple certified refurbished 16 MBP. I’m very very happy with it. Programmer for several years with windows laptops and this is my first ever MacBook 💻
I love my 16” MBP in every way except that the fans get loud when I plug in an external monitor. My office is warm-ish and while the computer doesn’t overheat, it does have to max out the fans most of the time in order to keep up with the heat.
When you plug a 16' in an external monitor the computer automatically only uses the discreet graphics and that why the fans turn to max. If you are not doing anything very grafic intensive, there is software that allows you to disable the discreet graphics and just run the Intel integrated graphics. That should solve the issue.

Very unlikely that a new MBP 16” would have come out a month later, and now the MBP 13” getting a sudden refresh. If at all, the base 13” has doubled the price for upgrading RAM as of very recently.
Even though I’m getting the 4 Thunderbolt port 2020 MacBook Pro 13” (whenever deliveries are not so backlogged and it actually arrives), I’ll still be using my 2018 iPad Pro for all video conferences. Why use the 720p potato cam when you’ve got access to the FaceID Canberra module in the iPad?
I plan to replace my 2013 15 in MBP with the 16 inch but plan to wait for refresh. Would love to hold out for the mini LED screen. My 2013 still works well but struggles a bit with video editing. I would love to see the 1 TB storage and 32 gb of ram be base model. We can dream right?

Great review, Max Tech. Love your thorough take on every device. My kingdom for WiFi 6 and a 1080p webcam! I would buy the 16” MBP in a heartbeat if they upgraded to WiFi 6. My sister’s 2018 HP Spectre x360 15T and my mom’s Surface Pro 6 have 1080p webcams, and you can really tell the difference. The new Dell XPS 15 and 17 has WiFi 6, so I’m looking forward to your reviews on them vs. the 16” MacBook Pro. I want to see how the graphics compare between them. The micro/mini-LED screen would amazing though!
The 10th gen H series in MBP16 support up to DDR4 2933. Also Mini-LED may bring ProMotion finally to some high end Mac in 2021. As looking back on current Mac laptop, the screen is lacking smooth every time I finished using my iPad Pro 11. And Apple like to put the best of the best feature on high end Mac *just like 2019 MBP16. Who know Apple will do it once on MBP16 Late 2020 or Early 2021.

I’m coming up on day 14 of using my pro 16, I upgraded the graphics card and processor and I have to say I’m not having any issues running games like Witcher 3 on steam or halo. Installed windows using boot camp. Not having issues with over heating or anything.

Edit: I got it and been using it since the past two months and absolutely love it! This thing is a monster and way over kill for me as I don’t really need to power it has to offer but I love it anyway haha

Le Tour du Monde en Canapé 32gb ram, 2TB SSD, upgraded the graphics to the 5500, Core i9. It’s a beast and it’ll keep its resale. HIGHLY recommend the 2TB. So nice having that extra space all the time.
What settings do you use for Unigine Heaven benchmarks? Do you max out everything?

I knew that 2020 MacBook pro won't be enough good as this and I needed 16 inch, because I need bigger screen, faster RAM and more cores on the processor for programming (massive projects). I'm very happy with this MacBook pro and it's my favourite laptop!

Funny, I just upgraded from the 2018 15" MacBook Pro to the 16" 2019 MacBook Pro since my keys failed for the 4th times again. Although I'm a developer and relying on Windows and software compatibility as well, I didn't wanted to wait 2 more years before the full conversion to ARM was complete. I'm happy with this decision, at least my fingers don't hurt after 8 hours of typing anymore.

The MacBook Pro 16 is definitely worth buying. I would definitely recommend buying this. I have also used this. I loving it. I was not gonna switch to any other laptop. But I have that to my mom as she loves Macbooks. So now, I'm currently using the Samsung Galaxy Book Flex. So should I upgrade to this from the Galaxy Book Flex??? Or should I upgrade to the Dell XPS 15/17 from the Galaxy book Flex??

Great video as usual. The only really bad thing about the MacBook Pro 16" is the coiling noise from the ssd (or what cause it).....First I had a i7 mbp 16" and that was silent, later got a i9 mbp 16" and the coiling noise appeared.
Intel’s 10th gen processor includes support for Wi-Fi 6...add this to the wish list for a mid 2020 16” refresh.

Hi, I like your channel and reviews of the MacBook Pro but I am disappointed you do not go into depth on the dGPU issue when connecting the MBP to an external 4K display. When connecting to an external 4K display, dGPU, by design is used to drive the external display (as opposed to iGPU) and as a result, there is a high wattage, dramatic increase in temperature and fan noise. Please make a video that talks about this and potential remedies. Thank you.
The latest Catalina update mentions a fix for this issue. Not sure if it applies to the dGPU or not, though. -Vadim
Max Tech Vadim, can you provide more detail surrounding this issue? There are countless forums and disappointed MBP users noting their MBP become very hot (sometimes dangerously hot) and noisy. They as a result return both the MBP and external display. This is bad for commerce. If there has been a fix, the fix should address the dGPU because that’s what’s being used to drive the external display. Does Clam Shell Mode help?

Just got the macbook pro 16 last month, im a lifelong windows user. I agree, the hype is real! MacOs is superior to windows (except for gaming).
Maybe they decided not to put a 1080 P camera in the MacBook Pro because all of the popular web chat services currently operate at 720 P in real life.

In December I went from a 2014 MBP15 to the new MBP16 and so I never experienced the bad keyboard in between and it felt just like a good upgrade after 5 years. Speakers are really great i have to admit i went almost with fully speced beside 1tb and the 2.3 8 core 32gb ram 8gb video i will keep it another 5 years
Btw i dropped it with the incase sleeve on concrete from 1.5m and nothing happened! Same with ipad pro 13
I really wanted to upgrade my 2016 15in MacBook Pro, but there are some features that I think the MacBook Pro SORELY needs to stay at the top of the premium laptop market. Apple needs to add a 4K option, a much better camera with Face ID, and then I think the MacBook Pro would be back at the top where it needs to be.
They usually update the bigger pro's in the summer, I'm going to try to hold out until maybe mid August. The battery life on my 13 inch right now sucks.
I loveee my MBP 16". However, Apple had to replace the motherboard as somehow there is a glitch when you connect it to an external monitor which makes the computer restarts on its own frequently.

Don't think they will release a new one, what's the point of investing so much $ for some minor upgrades (yes wifi 6 is great 10th gen) but with the virus and trade war etc i think it doesn't really make any sense IMO

Well i have a few questions .
I have been using it for 5 months now. And after 40 charge cycles the battery health has come down to 94% (as per istatmenu) and 93.4% (as per coconut battery).
Also, taking about the battery life I never got a battery life more than 4hrs-4.5hrs (I’m talking about screen-on battery time), just listening to music on Spotify and browsing on Safari with 8-9 tabs on and also working on MS Word and TextEdit. (A couple of more light apps are also open though).
**just to add a few more details, while listening music ok spotify my volume is not more than 60% while the brightness is never more than 50% as well.**
What do you think is this normal? Both my battery health and battery life. Let me know because I’m a new MBP user (new mac user to be more precise) and find it a bit quacky because apple claims a battery life of 11 hrs (at ideal states) but I have learnt from many people that they even get battery life up-to 7-8hrs (screen on battery life) as well.

maybe your GPU is operating on some of those applications. Download gfxCardStatus and move to application etc... it will now be on toolbar. When you press it, you can select if you want discrete or integrated on. With integrated graphics now selected, you should be getting much more battery life
I don't mind 720p webcam because it saves data while on the go tether using cellular wifi.

I really want this, have a 13'' 2016 Macbook Pro that's been a nightmare to own. I might hold off until next year and see how the new Silicone chip works for the 16'' refresh
I hope that Apple provide a more affordable model of 16 inch MBP for coders, since most of them never utilize the GPU. Can also fit in bigger battery because lower graphic chips or only using integrated graphics.
I couldn't wait so I purchased the 16 inch now if it's better I will sell mine and get the new one
