I wasn't watching in 2002, but I need to. It makes sense that 02 would be a great year with WWF acquiring WCW the year before. Having many great WCW wrestlers along with their own greats from the Attitude Era, it's a recipe for a great time. I stopped watching wrestling after WCW got bought out and started watching again in 2011. Needless to say, I have been very disappointed in the product. I was used to the Monday Night Wars time period. I missed out on the Ruthless Aggression Era, so I've been watching some stuff on the Network to catch up. I've thought about starting from the beginning and watching it all from 2001 to 2008, before the PG Era came along.
The years where HBK were inactive were the best years, because in these years the rock were active and the prime wrestler of the wwf, every year without hbk was a great year, research it if you don't believe me...
This is beyond the shadow of a doubt the BEST Summerslam ever! I have the DVD for it and I’ve seen the whole thing twice now, it’s that fucking good. Mysterio vs Angle, RVD vs Benoit, Triple H vs Michaels, and Rock vs Brock are some of the best matches on the card, especially Triple H vs Michaels. Good video man, sucks WWE copyright claimed it but I at least got to see it full this time. Keep up the good work!

This is a time in my life that I’ll always hold dear ! I was so young and growing up Shawn Michaels was my favourite wrestler, id watch all his matches from 96 to 98 on VHS religiously, after seeing him comeback and challenge triple h at summerslam it felt like the biggest miracle in the world ! I never thought I’d see him wrestle again and I had so many questions like if he’d even be able to wrestle properly again... Boy was I shocked ! Everything about that match was perfect The match itself, the build up, the commentary, just everything. I’ll never forget how truly hooked I was to wrestling and how it captured my imagination With this match/PPV Great times 🤘🏻
The months in building storyline a couple months even beyond a couple months sometimes I loved how they would show previews of all the beef up until the match before the two wrestlers came to the ring shit used to get me so hype even for the matches I wasn’t excited about we really grew up on the freakin GOLDEN ERA 😭

What made Summerslam so special in 2002 is because there was so many new and fresh matches on the card, it was a stacked show from top to bottom witth so much star power. One of the main reasons me and my friend (RIP) watched this was mainly to see Shawn Michaels make his return to the ring to fight Triple H as we were big fans of D-X and couldn't wait to see what kind of match these two would have on PPV but it ended up with us enjoying the entire show. The main event with Brock Lesnar vs The Rock brought back memories for us from Survivor Series in 1996 when HBK got booed out of the building and Sycho Sid got massive cheers, i still remember Rock getting loud 'ROCKY SUCKS' chants during the match and Lesnar got huge 'LET'S GO LESNAR', it was a huge fight like atmosphere and a great rollercoaster. Summerslam 02 is not only my favourite one but i consider it to be the wwe's greatest one i have ever put out in the history of the event.

"Old man HBK" Michaels is only 4 years older than Triple H. Triple H was 33 and Michaels was 37 when this match took place. I think it's funny how Michaels always got booked as "the old guy" against wrestlers who weren't even that much younger than he was. The same thing happened against Jericho where Chris Jericho would talk about how ancient HBK was during their feud...even though HBK is only 5 years older than Jericho is.
This is the first PPV my Dad (also a huge wrestling fan at the time) let me stay up and watch from start to finish, which explains why HBK almost immediately became my fav wrestler. HBK vs. Triple H from this PPV is probably my favorite match of all-time.

It's crazy how the body types change over the years back then people were cut. Now its diverse but people are more on the lean side. Way back in the day dad bodys were the thing.
