I purchased a lamar 25' tag along that someone ordered and never picked up it is a nice trailer and super heavy duty. It was optioned with an eight inch frame and dual 10,000# jacks, 18"x6' ramps it is the best trailer purchase I've made and I got a great deal on it. I have not seen another like it, thanks for the videos.

Damn, sorry to hear this... One of my local stores quit selling Lamar because they started going cheap and the store didn't want to deal with the aftermath.. Don't buy Big Tex bro they are just as bad or worse... I think the quality issues for most makes started about 10-15 years ago. Maybe look for an older trailer that you can rebuild. Might be worth a try..

Very good video and thank you for putting this out there, I am the owner of an excavation company and looking at purchasing a new bumper pull equipment trailer to put behind my Silverado, I have spent hours reading forums, looking and listening and have put Diamond C at the top of my list, also looked at Precision Trailers out of Canada but expensive for the trailer and shipping. It seems if its not one thing its another, why cant a 'professional' company that makes trailers make it right, good design, good paint, good customer service, I always try to buy the best product, but these equipment trailers really dont 'SELL' themselves, come on trailer manufacturers, lets make this happen and be pride to put that 'Made in USA' sticker on the product!!

I hear you. My trailer is only a year old and the ramps are already bowed on my 14k deck over (it’s not a Lamar though). Seems like it’s hard to buy a trailer that isn’t cheaply built. I hear lots of people like their Diamond C trailers, maybe I’ll check them out next.

Hey skid-co great honest and upfront review thanks for your input. Food for thought 🤔 go to the DOT truck scales and ask for a courtesy inspection and point out these issues your having to the officer. Ask him to document the weight of the trailer and truck combination along with trailer and Equipment combination see if he will write a report that you can send to Lamar about these issues at hand. They may step up to the plate and be willing to work with you on it. If not and this dot officer deems this trailer unsafe and not roadworthy you may be looking at a full refund. Good luck to you, my friend!

@@skidco from the quality (or lack of) on a Maxxd trailer, I don't think you would be any better off then your Lamar and the issues your having now unfortunately. I was not impressed with the welds or paint quality on the last Maxxd trailer I saw. Diamond C is absolutely going to be your best bet, just a matter of it you can handle the lead time issues because they have become so popular within the last 2 years. A DC gooseneck LPX with drive over fenders, frame extensions and max ramps. sounds like what you need. good luck man, I enjoy your F-450 Godzilla V8 content, rare to see, but I think its cool going down a path different from what everyone else is doing.

I know that all trailer brands cost too dam much but remember that you get what you pay for. Even though your equipment that you’re pulling is below 8 thousand pounds in my opinion I would have purchased a tandem axle duel wheel 10 thousand plus pound axles with mega ramps or the power tail ramp. I would buy a bit heavier than I needed to prevent the lite weight metal fatigue which you purchased in that single axle Lamar trailer you have. I noticed your other truck was a 3/4 ton. That truck would pull safely the Lamar gooseneck but you purchased a Ford F450. Doesn’t matter if you already had the F450 b4 you got the gooseneck. What ever brand you by is a investment. Spend the money upfront so like now later you want be cussing because you chose to cut corners and go the cheep route. From this video I can tell that any brand that you purchase that you want be satisfied. I’m not saying buy a DC LoadTrail or any other brand but what ever brand you choose buy a heavy duty trailer.
Duel wheel 10 or 12 thousand pound axles with mega ramps or power tail with the 102in wide deck. Let us know what you decide to buy or better yet go shopping and take pictures of your choices and let us decide for you. Do a video on several brands 2 of each brand duel wheel and single wheel mega ramps and power tail pictures and prices. We can choose // vote the rite trailer for you giving you a 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice B4 you by.

Lamar and Load trail have been quality trailers for me, including my lamar dump which was the best built dump ive seen. This looks to me like its been overloaded on the front of the trailer, a good bump in the road or going offroad with being overloaded is hard on stuff. All the brands look to have similar gooseneck design to me except diamond C obviously. If this has happened with you honestly not overloading or front loading then yea that is crap but ive only ever seen 1 gooseneck that was tweaked ever and it was not a lamar. Im by no means a lamar salesman or bleed lamar but they along with load trail have the best lookin welds usually also

    • @skidco

The trailer was never overloaded and I bought it new to haul a skid steer. My current gooseneck and all the other ones I've seen all have at least double the thickness of steel gusset up there where it was bending.
I have had some other people with the same trailer tell me theirs were doing the exact same thing.

If you want to build a trailer buddy then just build you a trailer. However, I just think you want a bigger trailer after purchasing this one and now see you need more trailer than you anticipated. I mean, I’m not saying Lamar has the golden ticket to buying trailers(idk maybe) but what i am saying is from my research they make some damn good trailers. By the way I’m not saying this just because I am a Lamar.

    • @skidco

My main problem with it is how Lamar their selves handled the situation. They just gave me the finger. I even made a comment about being a RUclips and I was making a video at the end of our last conversation and they said good luck. Ill never buy another one of their trailers.
Side note Ive owned allot of trailers and a fair amount have been load trail. if there ever was an issue, I never had to call corporate. they approved anything and everything I've ever had wrong with them.

Guessing thats a 14K rated trailer? Take away the weight of the trailer even at 4000 lbs. Might just be over loaded to bend those pieces. That or Running on rough roads. Just looked a few of these trailers today. Did not like the looks of them. But just saying overload the unit. Its going to fail. But should be build to withstand more weight then rated forsure.

    • @skidco
      @skidco  Год назад +1

I always carried less weight than what the trailer manufacturer said it would haul. I think it was a pour design. The material they used was pretty thin compared to all my other goosenecks.

Well that is an older video. But when I owned the trailer I did contact Lamar. About a dozen times. Most the time someone sent me to someones voicemail. I talked to someone twice besides the person that answered the phone. Once I told them I had pictures and video and they had me send them and they would get back to me. Never did. It took I think three more times of calling and leaving messages to get someone on the phone. Then they made me feel like they just wanted to be off the phone with me. The dealer in the area is not well set up at all to do repairs or anything. They have a couple of kids setting up trailers and no one in the shop. But they told me without approval what are they going to do. They said they didn't understand the problem. Even though you could see a clear difference between a new one and mine.
I didn't want it to happen to someone else. So there is the video.
Im glad you are good with Lamar. Ill never own another one.
