  • Make a mason jar succulent terrarium using just a few materials -- including sea glass. These little planters look so pretty on a bright window sill. Make them for yourself or give them as handmade gifts.
When it's too windy and rainy outside for gardening, bring the garden inside! In this creative DIY video, I'm going to show you how to create easy mason jar succulent terrariums. Not only that but I'm going to use one of my favorite foraged materials in them too -- sea glass.
If you live near the beach you might already have a collection already. If not, you could also use marbles or aquarium glass for a similar effect.
These terrariums aren't closed so they're not true terrariums. More like small class planters. Set them in an east or west-facing window or in another place with indirect or partial sun. They'll continue growing through the winter and all the year-round.
Water these succulent planters sparingly. Once a week in summer and once every few weeks in winter. It's always better to underwater succulents rather than over water.

This video came just in time. Ran up to Michaels craft store and got supplies to make this for my succulents that were not outside. Came out really nice. They had dragonfly mini lights 70% off. Total cost less than $10. The next night it dropped below freezing. Happy I'll have more time to enjoy them inside. Thank you 💚🧚‍♀️

BAGS of sea glass?! I hope you were able to take some home with you? :)

I love your idea to combine it with the sea glass. Reminscent of the colored sand layers I made as a child, but much more upscale, earthy, modern, and far more pleasing. Thank you for a great project. Just FYI, another YTer uses a large needle-less syringe to water the areas around her succulents, which, for someone clumsy like me, is an option. My hands lose their grip and I drop things all the time.

That's a clever way to water succulents -- I can see how that could be a really accurate way to get moisture in to exactly where it needs to go.

That looked so cool when you pulled out the already-rooted one from the side and no one was expecting this.

Wow! The amount of sea glass you have there is amazing. My daughter loves looking for sea glass along the beachs in New Hampshire.

I have quite the stash here -- you need to know where to look, but once you're in the know sea glass seems to appear everywhere :)

That looks like a fun project. I like your "tools", they are cute. Looking forward to seeing the allotment too.

You like the chopsticks then? :) They're fantastic for a project like this and if folks don't know how to use them well, there are little training bits that you can attach to them. It makes using them very easy.

They look great. I’m now tempted to make a little one for my mother... although mostly I want an excuse to go to the coast

Very pretty! I made some of these last year and it was a lot of fun. I don’t know why but they ended up dying. I actually watched your old terrarium a couple days ago. I’d really like to make one again.

There's a lot of reasons that they bit the dust, so to say. Too much water or sun being the likely culprits so keep an eye on both with your next one :)

Hey there, since you love sea glass. You may want to consider installing sea glass countertops in your kitchen when you remodel it. There are a few videos on RUclips showing some of these, just a thought.

I really like the idea of the seaglass. Is it possible to add the activated charcoal after everything is inside your open succulent terrarium? I have everything except the activated charcoal I forgot to buy it.

Can I plant my small succulents in my indoor pots to make this Terrarium?
