  • The new midsize 509 from FN is here! The FN 509M, as Hammer calls it, has a Glock 19 size grip and holds 15 plus 1 rounds, making it a little easier for concealed carry persons, and others, looking for a gun in this size footprint.

    I bought the 509 Midsize after my great experience with my FNS 9C. Both are fantastic pistols! Get one.....or both!

      Are the mags work with each other by any chance?

    • @drmitofit2673
      @drmitofit2673 5 лет назад

      @@jesseariasja Short answer is yes. 17rd 509 mags will fit in the 509M and FNS 9C. 15rd 509M mags with fit in the FNS 9C. But FNH recommends a grip sleeve to prevent over insertion. 2rd sleeves did not ship with the 509M, but are supposedly being made. M&P 2.0 Compact 9 mm pistols ship with two 15rd mags and two 2rd sleeves (for full size 17rd mags). That is what FNH should have done.

    I picked up my 509 Midsize today and am looking forward to taking it to the range. The 509 Tactical (which I have fired over 900 rounds through) has been a delight to shoot, and has become one of my favorite guns.

    I own the FN509 full size and absolutely fell in love with it. The pistol is built extremely well with quality written all over it. The gun did not malfunction when I ran over a thousand rounds at my last range visit. The FN brand is battle proven. I have the 509 in my carry rotation and I have full faith and confidence everytime I carry it. I would suggest the Glock freaks take a look at this well made, high quality, dependable, and reliable pistol. Oh, by the way, I own six Glocks.

    Finally a proper explanation of the trigger safety! So many reviewers state the dingus or hinged trigger is to prevent the trigger from being pulled accidentally while holstering .... it is an inertia safety y'all! Mr Striker, you are also one of the few channels to properly explain transfer bars vs hammer block safeties. Thank you for knowing your sh!t and not making half-ass videos!

    My 509 Midsize had a scratchy trigger at the shop but they only had one example so I took a chance and bought it thinking it was just the striker safety. Sure enough it was easily solved by removing and lightly polishing the surfaces of the striker safety and top rear of the trigger bar pyramid (just field stripped and not disassembled) that rubs against the striker safety. The sear has a slight drag feel when pulling the trigger super super slow before the break, but this is not a target gun. With slow, normal, and fast shooting the trigger is very nice after the polishing job. Feels like 6 to 6.5 lbs trigger pull which is optimal for a self defence pistol. Controls all work great, extractor tension perfect, able to load all 15rds no problem, great grip feel, bank vault precision lock up. Only wish it had a tactile loaded chamber indicator and striker status indicator like the XD series. Great gun, highly recommended. Overpaid for 2 more 15 rd mags from cheaperthandirt, but they were in stock.

    Very nice, can you predict a 45 acp in the near future on this midsize version..?

    • @HammerStriker
      @HammerStriker  5 лет назад

      Though I have no direct information from FN, I can say that I do not believe there will be a .45 acp. The reason being that the entire 509 series is only available in 9mm. FN seems to include the caliber in their naming scheme, so if it ever appeared it would likely be a different model name, even if it was basically the same gun.
