    The compact version is even better. I just bought one and it came milled with the Mos (and multiple mounting and options), a threaded barrel, as well at Trijicon night nights. On top of that, it came with a shorter grip and 3 mags, a 12 rnd, 15 w grip extension, and a 24 for fun at the range. The case it came with is also much nicer and more elaborate. But the price reflects all these beautiful changes, it's $800-$900, but gorgeous in the desert tan. 😍

    i picked this one up in full size as my first firearm today and i was super hyped to get it. brought it home and then went to see my dad to show him this new thing that i got. parts wise im happy with this, and i was really efficient in shooting this vs the CZ P10C and the Glock 19. i want to eventually get this thing milled so i can get an optic on it, but as of right now, im looking at this as a hobby gun and not something to use for concealed carry yet. i want to train and practice with this more to get a feel for it and get better at handguns before i get around to carrying. i was also wanting to just buy one and be done. so, this was the choice i made, and now i can change parts cost efficiently and learn as i go!

    Really enjoyed your excellent review. My FN 509 trigger was somewhat gritty during take up when I first took ownership but is has gotten much better. I prefer the less aggressive grips on my 509 over those on my FNX 40. I much prefer the grip and back straps on the 509 over the interchangeable frames on the Sig Sauer bodies.

      Toledo Tourbillion I hope you start liking them soon. I personally like hammer fired all steel guns like 1911s or CZs and Hi powers but striker fired polymer wonder 9s are the future. In the future they're gonna have some new kind of action just like striker fired is the norm now. When that happens, it's gonna cost triple to buy a good striker fired 9mm that's reliable and high quality, just like the only 1911s worth buying now usually cost way more than they need to.

  • @zacharykilian557
    @zacharykilian557 4 года назад +1

    Is it double action only?

    • @HammerStriker
      @HammerStriker  4 года назад

      It is a striker gun, so it operates more like a single action in that it will only fire if it has been 'cocked' by cycling the slide. Often guns like this are called Double-Action because the striker only gets partially cocked and the trigger has to perform the action of finishing cocking it + firing. But it behaves more like a Glock than a classic single or double action.

    What holsters are using with this? Is it compatible with Xd or M&P holsters?

    • @HammerStriker
      @HammerStriker  7 лет назад

      At the moment we are using this as a Range Gun and have not yet researched holsters.
      We do have an AlienGear CloakTuck 3.0 for the XDm 3.8 Compact 9mm that it fits quite nicely. Be aware that there can be a lot variation in designs for Kydex holsters (especially "Retention Holsters") and just because one works doesn't guarantee all will.
      Possibly one of our viewers has tried S&W or other holsters and can share what they know.

    • @HammerStriker
      @HammerStriker  7 лет назад +6

      We did do a video on the M&P M2.0 a few weeks ago, nicer trigger and a few other enhancements. I think the G26/19/17 keeps appearing in a lot of videos because there is probably not a gun store in the US that won't have one. So it makes a good reference for size that somebody can easily find at their local store. This can be useful when you are interested in a harder to find gun that you may have buy online, you will at least be able to hold something with similar dimensions..

    • @clplusp8762
      @clplusp8762 7 лет назад +1

      I know I know..how could I have asked such a rhetorical question. I guess I'm just tired of hearing how the Glock19 has become everybody's favorite handgun. I live in the hottest and most humid place you can imagine so carrying a 19 on a daily basis is kinda outta the question. I usually resort to carrying my 26 or my shield for comfort's sake. I'll admit though that amidst all the praise the 19 receives I took out my 23gen4 not too long ago and thought "whatta gem!" and then I realized that if my daily attire permitted it, I'd also carry it consistently. Oh...and my 23 hasn't come in contact with it's original .40 barrel since 2015. It's been married to the conversion barrel since I knew better.

    • @clplusp8762
      @clplusp8762 7 лет назад +1

      I used to think that but as we gun fanatics can't leave 'good enough' alone, I've found what I think is my perfect combination of parts: ZEV disconnector, rounded and polished plunger, and a plunger spring with a lighter rate. It makes the 'wall' a bit more vague than stock but it also makes the take up a bit more linear without the 'stacking' feel to it. I've also learned that the 'dimple' on gen4's really did mess with the smooth trigger pull when compared to a well broken in gen3. If I had to limit myself to just one mod while keeping stock parts I'd honestly say that the rounded and polished plunger really makes a noticeable difference.

    Unless there is a lever in the frame or a decocker button, most polymer pistols require you to pull the trigger to disassemble. Just saying.

    • @HammerStriker
      @HammerStriker  7 лет назад

      The typical pattern is that guns which do not require you to lock the slide back as part of the takedown will require the trigger to be pulled (such as Glocks). Guns like this one that require you to lock the slide back and turn a lever to take them down (ex XDm, P230, etc) will usually not require the trigger pull as it is cumbersome to manually align and hold the slide in the correct position to do so. It's not a deal-breaker by any stretch to have a "lock-back" gun also require a trigger pull, simply unusual.

  • @johnsilver7150

    FN should have taken note from Springfield and not make the grip too aggressive .MOST shooters do not like the aggressive grips. They scrape the skin when worn in a IWB holsters and I think they don't feel good . I have never had a problem holding onto a polymer pistol. But I have never had BLOOD dripping from my hands like most you tube shooters. Just a thought.

      Actually, it seems the 509 is a better value as it's a newer and improved gun, costing not much more than the FNS. The FNS has a lower cost for a reason and the trigger alone in the 509 is worth a higher price due to the awful trigger in the FNS.

The FN 5.7 is an attack revolver he kills a man at 90 meters for the army and the police and unfortunately for the mafia, the serious crime and the terrorists, a policeman or a soldier is ridiculous with its 9 mm face the devil Fn 5.7 he has no chance, he is already dead!
