this gun has been my EDC since 2020...amazing.
Awesome video! I was having trouble visualizing how to do everything by only reading the FNS manual. I've never cleaned a gun before either so this video gave me the confidence I needed to get the initial clean done. She fires like a charm and now I know how to clean it repeatedly. Thank you, sir!
Purchased the FNS 40 today and this vid was a huge help in me giving it a good cleaning before the range this weekend. Thanks buddo
Just purchased the FNS-9. Great video as always. I clean my guns a lot and never thought of using old T-shirts for pads. Great idea.
This has been such a help to me everytime I may get stuck...fire it up again and I'm right back on track so THANKS
Excellent and informative! I Love my FNS-9. Hasn’t failed me once. Thank You so much for sharing and showing us the ropes! Love Your style and humor too.
Point of information for the viewer: when you rotate the slide release and let the slide forward, pull the slide slightly back to align the battery, pull the trigger, and the slide will continue off the rail
Thanks man!! I bought thi gun yesterday and it happens to be my first ever and you walked me through this effortlessly.
Just picked up the full size FNS 9 as my first gun thank you for the video it helped a lot.
Thanks man for making us newbies feel welcomed ! Love the vid
Always good to see gunandgear endorse your carry pistol. Know how to clean mine but still watched just to reinforce my purches lol. Always well done video and keep them coming!
Thanks for the video. Today was the first time I cleaned my FNS-9 and thanks to you it was very easy to do it!!!
Just shot 200 rounds through my new FNS-9 yesterday and cleaned it down. Great info, thanks.
Perfect, just what i needed since im planning to hit the range tomorrow with mines
I always enjoy this channel good videos very informative..... I tend to use high temp grease instead of oil or CLP to lubricate bolts, actions, etc. the grease stays put much longer than oil when the firearm is used and the metal parts heat up due to rapid fire. The oil almost "cooks" off. The polymer pick tools are a great idea I need to get some.
Great video. I used it to help clean my FNS-9 that I just picked up new last night. Thanks so much!
awesome
Thank you for this gun cleaning review. Much appreciated. Stay blessed always. 🙂👌👍🙏
I won an FNS 9 in a raffle and I love it. Informative video on how to clean it. Thank you.
awesome
Very thorough cleaning man! Thanks for sharing
thanks!
Thanks for the vid. Their FNX-45 looks real interesting with 15+1 of 45acp.
Great video I'm planning on getting a FN compact and this video will be very helpful. Thanks.
you're welcome
I just picked this handgun up today, thanks for showing me how to care for the sexy beast! I'm a newbie, obviously lol
You're welcome 👍🏽
@@Mrgunsngear hey can you show us how to clean a sig sauer p320 compact? Please
@@pierrewilliams2750 it's pretty much the same
Got the same firearm and love it
You & Hickock45 ROCK!
I shoot high volume but I still watch your vids :)
Must say A Great explanation, Of how the cleaning is done correctly, The takedown was good i Just missed one part of this particular handgun. And he went a bit to fast after pulling trigger The slide has to line up with the handle perpendicular.when pulling trigger....But all in all for a New HandGun owner These Video's are Done very well. Thanks Too FN.There Fire arms are clearly one of the BEST,
Gracias hermano 👌🏽 she’s much better after your video
Thanks for the breakdown. I appreciate it.
Helpful video! I know green is a tactical color, but I wouldn't be able to see all the dirt unless I use white patches or t-shirt segments. I love my FNS9C!!
Just purchased a 9c today. Can’t wait to take it to the range. I have a 9c and a newly built 556 SPR to break in!
🇺🇸
Mrgunsngear Channel damn straight good sir!
I find cleaning guns therapeutic. Great video.
Thank you
Great video on the take down and cleaning. You need to wear some nitride gloves for cleaning the guns. I'm 55 years old now and my skin on my hands have damage from the lubricants and cleaning solutions cleaning my guns from the past. Today I have found there is no issue doing the same job today with the gloves.
Thanks
+Mrgunsngear Channel lol
awesome work sir!
thanks
great video , LOVE this gun
true story
You seem to be extremely knowledgeable
Wonderful display of skills!! You're totally worthy of an owner of firearms!
huh?
Game on Wayne!
Like Your videos, one suggestion/quest - can U do a bolt rifle cleaning video.
thanks for the video, I own the fns 40 and love it. question for you what are your thoughts on POF USA Renegade? I ask because I'm trying to decide between this or the BCM Jack as my first carbine to own or just the two companies in general.
FYI, this comes from a call i placed to FNH a few weeks ago. The UP marking on the barrel is not indicating the "up" side. The P indicates pressure tests that qualify the barrel for +P rated ammo. The FNH could not remember the test performed for the "U" marking.
Chris B McCallan but "This side up" is funnier! Don't let the truth get in the way of a laugh.
I always enjoy your "how to lubricate" videos. I don't know if it's the good information or the soothing voice...wait this post isn't public is it?
Does he have the "Barry White" voice of the Tactical RUclips Channels? lol
Ha!
good choice on the T shirt.
Excellent vid as usual! There doesn't seem like there is a lot to these guns and has peaked my interest in the FNS. I have been looking at them in passing, but have yet to really check one out. Maybe I should give it a second look.
thank you. It's a great gun with poor marketing
+Mrgunsngear Channel That's sad. I guess they are either hoping for sales by word of mouth, or they just put all their emphasis on the FNX line. Either way, I will be doing more research on this gun. Thank you very much for sharing this information! Your opinion is highly valued.
Nice video. Thanks
thank you
good video, good job.
thank you
New FN owner here,
How often should I clean my gun?
Thanks for any replies :)
Tysm!
Mrgunsngear, what kind of sights are you running on your FNS compact?
Thanks!
Great cleaning video. Use some Nitrile gloves with that CLP. Just playing it safe...Most gun cleaning chemicals should not come in contact with your skin.
Just out of curiosity, what’s your opinion on Ballistol? I don’t think I’ve ever heard you mention it.
I like CLP as a minimum vs stuff like remoil that runs off and evaporates away. It has a special place in my heart from my mil days, but after moving to Frog Lube a few years ago, I don't have that oily residue anymore and the action always feels smoother. Being non-toxic is a bonus too. Though I'm debating stripping down one of my firearms and using only oil I get off a car dipstick to see how well it fairs (which I imagine is pretty well, even for being used oil).
The trouble with used motor oil is that it's carcinogenic (use latex gloves when changing oil on your car) and is contaminated with acids, metal etc. Use fresh motor oil, it won't break the bank at the amount you'll be using🍺
+Damian Grouse oh yeah I know new oil will be better but I want to see how it compares to used oil. In situations where shit goes bad, cars will be plentiful, new oil might not. Really just for fun experimentation :)
+Darth Carloos Enjoy your experiment. If things ever get that bad safe/healthy practices won't be a priority
Thanks
I think it is the mil where a lot of us learn the love for the CLP lol
What rear sight is on the gun?
Not sure why the FN's are not more popular?
No idea either. I have the full size version and love it.
So do I FNX 9 stainless
Can't beat glock's aftermarket. About 50 dollars more expensive than glawks.
Well you're wrong about price. The FNS is, depending were you shop, either the same price as a Glock or nearly 100$ less. I picked up a stainless FNS 9 in Jan at Academy ( well known for price gouging) for 475 & change out the door. You can't get a new G17 or 19 out the door for that price. Also if you don't mind .40 S&W they're running for like 359 @ PSA right now. Can't find a new G22 for that price anywhere.
However Glock aftermarket is pure insanity. Which is why, in my unprofessional opinion, the Glock is the most popular of the polymer framed pistols.
I had a Gen3 17 for two years it wasn't a bad gun by any means. I enjoyed it for sure. However it's just kind of bland. You go to the range and everyone has a Glock. I like the uniqueness of the FNS. Not many in the crowd have it. Maybe that's just the douchey millennial in me, lol.
+Court Lively Agreed. When I go to the range people always ask me about it because many don't know about them. It is cheaper in price compared to glock and a very high quality firearm. Fit and finish is just as good if not better then others.
Do you remember what direction the FN sights are removed/installed? I just picked up set for my FNX and haven't found a definitive answer yet....I saw your Ameriglo sights and figured you installed.
I think there is a video on what side to remove I had gun Smith do mine
I turn 21 in a few months and am probably going to be buying this gun for my edc.
Try it before you buy it.
I have the full size version and love it. However, as Captain America stated, you definitely want to go to a range and rent several options before committing. Good luck with your future purchase!
Very solid choice
I use my old T shirts for rags even socks for rags . Although I don't recycle my old underwear . I generally cut them into rag size square and throw them in a bag under the sink . And from there the possibilities are endless .
nice
Do you prefer the compact fns-9 over the full size if you could only have one?
If I could only have one it'd be this because of the capability to use the longer mag and ease of carry. That said--full size shoots better ( of course )
how to replace to backstrap?
What is the trick to getting the small front takedown pin in the locking block? I can’t find info anywhere.....you are one of my usual go to sources for info
I really don't know that there is a trick
I have the full size version. I literally bent a punch trying to drift it out. I’m not a moron.....I’m a certified Glock Armorer (where no effort is required...certainly not pounding)....so I figured this wouldn’t be tremendously different. Boy was I wrong. Over complicated design in my humble opinion. The striker seemed overly complicated in design. Don’t get me wrong, it works great. Just can’t find a detailed frame disassembly video. I assumed I’m doing something wrong
Please help. i need a Kydex AIWB holster for the compact. I love G-code but they don't make one. Please hit me with some suggestions.
I have an Alien
Can't seem to find a spray bottle that won't shoot the CLP out in a tight stream. Weird question, what body spray was that?
no clue; it was years ago
Next time try Koch lube?
You know I love that stuff 👍
Love your channel, does the fsn9c have a drop and trigger safety, I know it says in the manual don't carry with a loaded chamber and I want this for my carry gun locked and loaded maybe you know
The manual doesn't say "don't carry it clambered." and yes it does have striker block safety just like glocks and other major striker fired guns. It also has a loaded chamber indicator on the extractor with red paint. It's intended to be carried with one in the chamber. You can also get it with a external safety or without depending on your preferences.
it does have a drop safety
Thanks, you helped me teach the wife how to lube the spittin cobra......XD
what is the name of the front sight you have on the firearm? It looks to be an aftermarket front sight.
Ameriglo. If you go to my review of this pistol there's a link to it in the description
You could have used Bore Snake to clean the barrel. Works much, much better than just running a patch through the barrel.
I'm not a fan of them but fair enough
Q Tips work just fine for those hard to get to areas. Remember not to press hard on them, but they do a great job when cleaning. A rod with patches miss too many vital spots.
Nice job. Anyone else using a dry lube product like Sentry Solutions Tuf-Glide?
Thank you
what rear sight did you put on tha FNS9C?
not sure but if you post a screenshot on my Facebook page I'll let you know 👍🏽
High speed, equate toothbrush. 😂😂🍻
When is the Sons of Liberty Gun Works video coming out?
Not sure
+Mrgunsngear Channel I'm looking forward to it. I want to pick up one of their stripped lowers. Just wondering if they're GTG.
this vid gave me an excuse to open up the alg juice and give it a try
I bought 2 ALG Lower parts groups, Buffer tubes and 2 Geissele triggers in the last 4 months and never got even 1 sample... Didn't even know this existed, sucks man.
that tells me me you can afford it.
Baltimore city police had problems with them miss firing and replace them with Glock 17’s
@ 4:00, i can smell the clp throught my phone screen.
I think that's the weed
Here is how its done. Used a light solvent on barrel and internal components, wipe totally dry. Then use high purity high temp bearing grease only on critical friction points. To apply place a tiny dollop no larger than half a pea size on your finger tip and smooth it out. The thin layer on your index finger tip is more than enough. Do not lube the inside of your barrel for modern guns. That's it....
thanks
Or you could just use CLP.
Matthew Alford good advice, but for some folks located on a sandy area of operations the grease becomes a magnet for fine sand.
What the heck so I did the exact same thing on mine and I can't take it apart 🤔 I just bought it from a gun show
Never buy anything from a gun show
I need help with my fns9
What do you need help with? I have one also, I might be able to help
Blake Longley can’t drift out the locking block pin. Is there a trick I’m missing?
@@wunder8962 yeah uh... good luck with that lol, I've heard they're not even meant to be removed by the consumer, and I also heard they're supposed to be replaced after removed, but if you really need it out I'd get a small ball peen hammer and a small enough pin punch and be super careful, someone said they cracked the frame doing it on the 509, that's FN for ya though, they don't like aftermarket stuff lol. If it were me I'd take it to a local shop and get them to do it, it sounds risky and tedious to me, best of luck to you though.
@@wunder8962 I just researched myself because I was curious and you have to lay it down on its left side, and punch it out from right to left, hope that helps
Our good host appears to be sporting a pair of ruddy cheeks. Looks like his left cheek may have sustained a bit of a punch to the countenance (?) But he doesn't have a black eye which probably means he won the fight, he he.
That’s your wife’s body spray bottle? Is that a combat keepsake? Does your FN smell like unicorn farts lol-
maybe
brother love ur videos but every time I see u clean with CLP I shake my head. used it in the marine Corp but much better products out there. lucas, ballistol, rand clip just to name a short few. please update ur cleaning product for the love of ur guns..
Not sure there's a lot of quantifiable data proving that.
first
winner
my fns is so damn stiff
So much lube! Makes my cringe. I clean and lubricate all my pistols like I do my Glock. Wipe down with limited lubricant and apply just a few small drops in the key spots. I hate wet guns.
Fair enough.
I hope you don't run your AR dry. Those damn things typically need liberal amounts of CLP in my experience. I personally witnessed people running without CLP seize a BCG to the upper receiver because they ran the gun without any lube.
+Doug S Amen, read the manual re: lubrication. Don't go on personal taste it's expensive.
fair enough
fair enough
For those of you who are looking into these pistols, FN makes better hammer guns compared to their striker fired guns. My fnx 45 is much better than my fns 9
How so
The trigger is much better on my fnx. Maybe it's because of the hammer but it just feels so much Better.
You really need to get rid of that habit of saying Umm so often while you're thinking of what to say next. It makes your video's annoying to listen to. To be fair you did do much better in the latter part of the video where you seemed to loose the Umm's.
But Hickok has purpose behind it and helps fellow shooters. He will assist you and answer questions thoroughly unlike this channel.
