      @zachwarner7164 12 дней назад +1

      Did you, like I, come to the conclusion the M4P (12/16) is worth the premium if you are purposely buying into this generation to sit on for a while?

    • @organizedchaosmark
      @organizedchaosmark 11 дней назад +1

      @ Yes, hands down. The only thing I’ve been hung up on is how much RAM to get. I ended up buying the M4P 12/16 with 24/512. I’m going to install the apps I use and run some tests. Depending on how it does, I may end up exchanging it for a 48/512 or maybe even 1TB.

    • @zachwarner7164
      @zachwarner7164 11 дней назад

      @@organizedchaosmark gotcha, that makes sense. I think the base m4 could probably do what i need for a bit, but its going to be my daily driver so idont want to be kneecapped. the base m4 pro seems ideal, for me at least. 48gb of ram would absolutely rip, but your getting into base m4 pro studio territory likely

    • @organizedchaosmark
      @organizedchaosmark 11 дней назад +1

      @ yeah, the price jump to 48gb is a tough pill to swallow, especially since you’re inching closer to Studio pricing. I’m pretty sure that the base m4p is going to be more than sufficient for my needs. Looking forward to setting it up and putting it through its paces.

    Thanks Art, good to see you. While the Pro is very good, one point not brought up is as soon as you start upgrading it to the higher chip, SSD, and maybe Ram, you are very close to the Max Studio base price, and the M2 Max is a terrible buy as it’s soon to be replaced. Take the last gen that had comparable specs between the Mini Pro and Max Studio, the pro was a horrible value unless you kept it base. I predict the same to happen here between March and June when the new Studios come out. A used M2 Studio could be worth a look though.

    Thanks for doing such an exhaustive look at such a wide range of systems - really helps see where you'll benefit for spending more, and where you won't. Other than a few odd results (the base M1/M2/M3 being fastest on the Pano stitch, oddly slow time for 14" M2M on the LrC Export), I can't see much to question in your testing, and nobody else is doing anything like this comprehensive.
    You've both given me reasons to want to upgrade from my M1 Pro 32GB/2TB 14", and reasons not to (or to look at configs I never would have considered) - no small feat! Thanks for all the great work!

    This is a really good review, thank you for your effort. Based on my use and budget, I’ve gone with the M4 Mini Pro (base option) as I’m upgrading from the M1 Mini 16GB 512GB. I’m using LR with 3rd party noise reduction, Audicity for audio podcasts editing, and Final Cut for video editing. To get the base Mac Studio M2 Ultra is $800 more Cdn. At this point, M4 Mini or Mini Pro is so much better than the M1 that I have, that it’s going to help quite a bit, especially now that I’m getting into astrophotography which is has to stack hundreds to thousands of files to make one image (star alignment, image processing for imperfections). Glad to see that the middle of the road performance vs the top Core computers is still pretty good! The Mac Studio M2 Ultra base in Canada is $5500!

    Amazing stuff. How is performance vs noise if you run the MacMini M4 Pro in its energy saving mode?

    Will probably go with the M4P 48gb/1tb, currently on the M1/16gb/256 and to often run out of memory

    This is a really informative video. I've watched it multiple times. Thank you for providing such rich information.
    I have one question. I am currently using an M2 MacBook pro, and I mainly edit 4K footage with Final Cut Pro and Premiere. I don't do much 3D work, but I do some 2D graphics. The size of each project is usually around 2-4 TB. In this case, would it be better to buy a Mac Mini M4 Pro chip or a Mac Studio M2 Max chip?

    Great work. The configurator is a bit tricky these days too. On the MBP Max version, you can't just get more than 36GB RAM, you HAVE to upgrade to the better M4 Max chip too, so you can't just do $200 to go up to 48GB RAM, you HAVE to spend $500 and bump up to the 16 core CPU, 40 core GPU. So weird...

      @@ArtIsRight Although it is sadly typical Apple to just force people to spend more $$$. It makes me sad because they hurt their brand for very little extra profit compared to their iPhones.

    Any consideration about one or 10Gb network? I want to keep the new mini for at least four years. No other computer in a network in my home.
