    After using the ‪@meinlpercussion-products‬ Turbo Slaptop Cajon for 5 months I think I have all the information i need to do a review.
    Right off the bat I want to let you know i love this drum. This slaptop Cajon is so much fun to play, the position of it sitting on your lap rather having to bend over to reach the playing surface of a traditional Cajon make even a long gig so much more pleasurable.
    The body of the Meinl Turbo Slaptop Cajon is made from Baltic Birch with the playing surface being Walnut. The snare effect takes the pain away from slap tones and it has forward sound projection for the bass and high sounds and textures. This is all helped by the in built pick up and a 6.3 mm mono jack input/output with controls for there Snare and Bass.
    In the video you can hear the sound samples. I my opinion, when talking about sound, the Slaptop Cajon beats the tradition Cajon (at the same price point) on all levels bar the bass. Coming in at under 200€ £ or $ its worth every penny. If you’re in the market and are looking to get a new cajon, maybe your back is causing trouble during cajon gigs or you're looking for a cajon you can plug straight into the mixer for a closer sound then definitely give this a look.

    I run the older version of this that has the single snare port and is more compact in size, through a pretty inexpensive YORKVILLE 50KW keyboard amp. The bass will fill small to medium venues with no issues. I love it!! If you're on the fence, PULL THE TRIGGER!! Through a p.a. these things are game changers. So much fun!! SO VERSATILE!!

    Great review on the different sounds off mic and pick up.
    What does the 'link' input do?
    Are the bass and snare knobs for volume only or do they add effect ie depth to bass?

    • @BrendrumJones
      @BrendrumJones  Год назад

      Thanks for saying so. I think the 'link' is for if you had a snap box for example it can go through the cajon to the desk. The knobs only give the volume from my experience. Chat soon man

    Are foot tambourines or foot shakers possible with this, or would it move the cajon too much and make it feel to insecure in your lap?

    • @BrendrumJones
      @BrendrumJones  Год назад

      Great questions, yes if youre playing heel down and you’re not moving much.

    I had one, with the matching Cajon with pickups that that you sit on.
    The slap top was great, the cajon, not so much.
    My advice? Buy a cheap Pearl bass cajon, use a cajon pedal with it, and you have a kick drum you can sit on that will give you the bass you’re missing while you jam out on that a slap top. I do something similar for small stages.

    Just did a gig last night with the jumbo meinl cajon. How you sit on it def makes a difference and can be fatiguing but it's a great cajon for the low end. I want one of these too.

    What the heck lol. I just got into playing drums. I did know something like this existed. I've watched some of your drumming videos. As a complete beginner I have a question. As I'm playing on my kit I'm always counting to know where I am. Once I guy gets good enough do you mostly stop counting. I know it's probably a silly question but I don't understand how you guys drum so well lol.

    • @BrendrumJones
      @BrendrumJones  6 месяцев назад

      It depends Robby , i m currently doing a musical and in the more complex parts I still go back to counting to get it right. The more you do it the better, but again if you are rocking out it’s better to be in the moment in my opinion.

    Hey, Brandon! Are you knowledgeable about drum rugs? I don't wanna spend a lot of money on a real drum rug, but would a traditional door mat work? Thanks in advance!:)

    • @BrendrumJones
      @BrendrumJones  Год назад

      Hey man, good to hear from you. I use a door mat but it’s the type that you would see if you walked in to a shop, so it big enough for the full kit. It does the job well. Smaller would work but only for the bass drum 🥁

      @@BrendrumJones I think I might've found an alternative! I needed somewhere I could attach velcro tape to the rug, on my current rug that's not gonna work, but I'll try out the alternative I found. I'll update you once I get things set up!

    Why is the sound so deteriorated when you only have the pickups on? It doesn’t sound that way on other demos. It significantly cuts out the low and top ends of your frequencies.

    • @BrendrumJones
      @BrendrumJones  2 месяца назад +1

      Maybe the other recording have been tampered with. I don’t know but there is a significant difference when you take of the mic, and its represented in the sound here ion the videos. Overall just using the pickup, you lose a lot of bottom end which its lacking acoustically anyway

      @@BrendrumJones got it - thanks for the insight. I’m really considering getting this cajon to play at church instead of my electronic drum set, so I was hoping not having to mic it. On other recordings it sounds really deep. Appreciate the transparency!
