- Encounters with bears have become common in Romania, home to the largest brown bear population in Europe after Russia, estimated at 8.000 by the Ministry of Environment. With the population increase and tourists inciting bears to leave the forests by feeding them, the country is facing a growing number of attacks -- dividing herders, farmers and conservationists.

I can't say much about it,i lived further south in oltenia's region and we don't have bears. In my humble opinion,the best option is take all the food that is being thrown away from supermarket and spread it out in the forests,i've heard that a similar approach was taken long time ago and it was working.

Education how to coexist ie never feed bears habituates them. Bears like their own space and avoid people public education re not feeding will reduce conflicts culling is not the solution

is always a guy who care more for HIS cows, HIS money, this earth is not only for you and me mate, we are not alone here, we can not live without animals, we can not live without other humans. you must be more worried about your cows damaging planet and what kind of planet you will let to your child. we don't own this planet mate, we only live here for few years. this planet own us....and god help us if this planet will decide to extinct us.
"You and me"? Another person was just mauled to death by a bear. Maybe you never leave your house or you don't live in Romania, but then this problem has nothing to do with you. There are too many bears, it's an issue.
When the whole forest is overrun with chainsaws, there no place for these animals, and their food, to go but towards cities.
Maybe if they stopped the aggressive deforestation, this would not be a problem, let's not blame it on the people who feed them, but on those who chase their food away.
