He's not an idiot, he's a hero. If you take the time to read the description in English, This ski instructor was provoking the bear to chase him so that it would not come after the children in his class. He keeps yelling and provoking the bear to chase him and drawing the bear downhill away from the kids in his class and the unsuspecting other skiers. He's a hero. Look into things before you start calling people idiots. It's sad how people just love to get on the internet and act like a mob and attack people before knowing any context of what they are seeing. Put your pitchforks away folks! Would it have been smarter for him to just ski off to safety and let all those children on the slope fend for themselves against a large grizzly? No, he was doing the right thing by keeping the bear's attention on him. Most adult ski instructors can ski in control up to 45-55 mph if they have to and a grizzly can only run 30-35 tops so this ski instructor is pretty safe and can easily take off at full speed downhill in a tuck if the bear was ever too close to him. As you can see, the bear finally gave up and got the scent of something else and went off into the woods. I would hope that ski patrol eventually closes down this trail until the bear leaves the area. Give the ski instructor a hand for keeping his class safe from a freaking grizzly bear and stop calling him an idiot. And yes, I'm aware that this is in Romania and Romania most definitely does have grizzly bears, same as Russia, Canada and the US.
tbh the bear didnt look aggressive at all, if anything interested in playing, which obviously is not a great idea. Of course you can never be sure with a bear, but grizzlys hardly ever attack people. The few cases where encounters end deadly are usually either because the bear got surprised, which is not the case here, or the bear was a very old male who had lost any fear from humans and ideally was very hungry as well, but this one looks quiet energetic and decently well fed. Of course still important to keep weaker individuals away from the bear, because these beasts even if they mean no harm at all can be pretty dangerous.
@@LunnarisLP the bear seemed genuinely interested in this man’s beautiful voice/energy, but he was also a very thin grizzly and wouldn’t be opposed to indulging in more than mere friendship.
For those who don't understand romanian. I know that slope. I'm always eyes open for bears. From the video, we learn he is a ski instructor. And he was on his way down to his school kids. He first tried to talk the bear away from the slope. Because he had tourists (skiiers) behind. Then, the bear, out of the blue sky tried to chase him. For no reason, that's why you can never know what a bear does. So this man played the bear's game to exhauste it. When he saw that there are other tourists downhill. He stopped. Warn them to go fast downhill because there is a bear. Finally, he succeeded to make the animal go in to the forest. He laughs all the time because he is maybe from that region, and he is used with these animals. So, he is a kind of hero.
I loved that because the bear must realise now that humans are not worth trying. For a bear to run a kilometer without catching the prey, that's a disaster.
Thanks for those explanations and appreciations, I'm not from the area, but I often go to different parts depending on where I have hours. We were all lucky that that bear was not aggressive, but it is still a wild bear, and you never know how it will react. The idea was not to be fed by someone, as I think has happened in the past, and to return to the forest from where it came. It took some time, with a continuous change of strategy depending on how the situation evolved, but I succeeded in the end. Only good, and no similar meetings with anyone!
@@adi99fox You likely saved several people, a bear's life and your video is bringing awareness, preventing these things happening to many others, thank you. 🙏 I'm not so sure about the aggressive part though, when it looks like he's being playful (e.g. 2:22), it may be a deceitful move for going straight into attack mode if you got close enough... 😋🐻
@@powerbutton2694 Balls of steal? 😃 Where did he steal them from? 😉🙃 Maybe if we can find out we can help him get his own, instead of the stolen ones…😄 some real ones made of steel…😉😆
This was an amazing video. The bravery of the ski instructor to lure the bear away from the young skiers was courageous. Plus he was alternating between skiing forward then backwards and had to look behind him to see the other young skiers⛷ on the slope and earn them. The guy is a hero
So as a romanian, I can give a few translations to the people watching the video: 1. The guy was not mocking or provoking the bear, he was a ski instructor attending a class and he kept telling him to go to the forest and was trying to keep the people in the group from panicking. He kept calling the bear cute :) 2. The reason he made the bear chase him was to keep him away from the other people, in interviews he said this has happened before (in other words he wanted to provoke the chase instinct of the bear on purpose, so it goes after him instead of a child or something) 3. He was warning people as he was going down the slope that theres a bear in order for them to leave
This is incredible, absolutely amazing. The instructor is a calm hero, gets the bear away from all the other skier's at the top of the slope, and stops when he encounters people on his way down, to give them time to ski all the way down and put some distance between themselves and the bear. All this while filming perfectly, and laughing and being calm throughout the entire interaction. My dad studied to in Romania late 1970s/early 1980s, and he says he saw a bear while skiing there too. Beautiful country he says. From the video here, I have to agree.
if you could understand Romanian you would see that this guy is a professional ski instructor who frequently has this kind of contacts with bears and knows how to react. he actually is protecting the tourist and attracting the bear to follow him. still courageous though. (with some kind of defending weapons probably)
@Vasile Gavrilan yeah thanks for pointing that out. Guess I skipped those Romanian classes while in Jr. High 40+ yrs. ago. I KNEW I'd need it someday. Dagnabit!!!
This guys’ ability to warn people, keep an eye on the bear, ski, scare the bear and more all at once is amazing. He’s lucky it was an inexperienced yearling though.
Yes, the bear was a juvenile. I have encountered a juvenile grizzly while doing trail maintenance…the bear ran back a few metres and stopped…I stood my ground and then backed away very slowly. There are numerous bear encounters in the Rocky Mountains…very few attacks…and even fewer fatalities. When researching fatalities in Montana, it was reported that many were during hunting season. Hunters leave gut piles from a deer or moose kill…the bears easily find the meal and defend the nearby territory. One striking incidence, a party of three hunters were killed at their camp…three rifles were founded nearby loaded and not discharged. Faster than greased lightning!!! Bear attacks and fatalities are often just bad luck…chance encounters. Sometimes it is about not being informed…tents ripped apart because food was stored in or near a tent. Again in Montana …two solo female backcountry backpackers were killed in their tents on the same day…miles apart…not by the same bear. On one occasion, I watched a father, with a daughter in the front of a canoe, paddle up to within 10 metres of a mature adult grizzly on the shoreline. #*£¥ ing stupid! These bears leave paw prints the size of dinner plates …and rip huge divots out of the soil with one swipe when dining on rodents. I won’t judge this skier, but even a friendly dog in an off leash area will chase joggers. If you want to take on the persona of being ‘prey’, and initiate the predatory instincts of a predator…then run.
The bear will eat him one day. Some guy in Alaska used to show school kids his friend the wild bear and than the bear ate him. Serves him right. Do not go to Romania they have vampires and bears. Take your choice.
To my eyes its seemed like a young bear (born the year before) but I'm really amazed by the "instructor" or whatever he was. He managed to stop the rest of the skiing ppl and by himself took the bear further down. His voice seemed calm all the way and I'm impressed. Salute to such a gentle, calm man! Your welcome to Sweden!:)
That bear was not just curious. When the bear was laying down in the snow, next to the edge of the slope, it was actually behaving just like a bear on a hunt would do. I.e. the bear tried to fool the prey by looking uninterested, but at the same time slowly advancing tactically, closer and closer. So, the ski instructor would have been the next meal for the bear, had he stayed put instead of skiing down the slope. I have seen this behavior with polar bears several times before, exactly the same tactic (to play uninterested but slowly advance until within reach or the prey). I mean, the bear must have been really hungry. It wouldn't have run for so long otherwise. Bears are no maraton runners you know. Nor are they downhill skiers.
That was intense! WOW! That bear was up close and comfortable. The skiing instructor did a wonderful job. Great video. Glad everyone was ok, including Mr. Bear!! Thumbs up.
ENGLISH translation. We have in this video a Romanian ski instructor (not Russian, as many people keep dreaming...) Looks like a lot of people missunderstood what happened in this video, and they think the instructor provoked the bear. I invite them to read this translation. The ski instructor's name is Adrian Stoica, this is his channel. During the whole video, he's been skiing backwards (hat off...) so this way he recorded the entire chase. 0:01 The instructor to the bear: "Hey you, grandpa' bear, get away from here... we've got work to do." 0:07 To the people: "Stop! Stop! Stop! Stay were you are, just a little bit. Let him pass by." 0:14 To the bear: "Hey brother! Come on, come on, come on..." 0:16 A woman in the background: "And now...? What we're gonna do?" 0:19 The instructor to the woman: "We'll let him pass by. You don't put yourself in his way." 0:28 A man in the background: "Stop! Stop! Stop!" 0:30 The instructor to the bear: "Come on, beat it to the valley, slowly." 0:35 The instructor to the people: "And after that, the group. Everyone stopped, right?" 0:39 A man: "Right." 0:42 The instructor to the group: "Come on... let's make some noise, so he will go. Make a little bit of noise." 0:53 To the bear: Hey partner... beat it. We are too many here, and you are alone. Come on, come on, come on... huo! Huo! Huo!" 1:04 To the people: "Look... what a cute face he has! He doesn't care..." 1:10 To the bear: "My friend, come on... don't come closer cause we are not such good friends. Come on... come on... Go to the woods, to the woods... To the woods, to the woods, to the woods... forget about us, leave us. Come on, come on..." 1:38 "Oh... bravo! Very nice of you!" (He loughs). 1:45 "Are you kidding me...? You're not allowed here. You're not allowed here." 1:57 "I know you're cute, but... everyone with his own business." 2:11 "Huoi! You're not allowed here. You're not allowed here. Don't you understand you're not allowed...? Go to your woods.... I know you want something, but I don't have anything to give you." 2:24 A man in the background: "Doesn't anybody have food on...?" 2:29 The instructor to the bear: "You are adorable." 2:34 To the people: "So what now...? What are we going to do with him here?" 2:35 A man to the instructor: "Leave the skies there, and come here." 2:37 The instructor: "No. Because I have to go down slope to the students." 2:41 To the bear: "You're not allowed here! Not allowed! Not allowed!" 2:50 "That's it." 2:51 To the bear: "Bye, little bear! Come after me... huol!" 3:01 "Let's make a contest... come after me!" (He starts the race.) 3:06 He turns 180 degrees and continues to ski backwards during the whole race, while filming the bear and talking to him: "Come on, dear, come on..." 3:14 "You're a light-headed! I suggest you to go to the woods... You are adorable!" 3:28 "Little bear, little bear..." 3:44 "You keep running, keep running, but there's nothing you can do about it." 3:51 "You are there, I'm here..." 3:58 "I'm gone dear, cause I've got classes to do. Bye! And we don't stay to socialise for too long..." 4:11 "You are so cute! Bye...!" 4:21 To another group: "Watch out! The bear is coming. Come on, take it easy and leave. All of you." 4:48 To the bear: "Come on, come on, come on... We'll take another ride..." 5:05 He loughs... To the bear: "Do you still can run...? Can you?" 5:15 To the group: "Everybody must go to the valley." 5:23 To the group: "You go forward, I'll stop him, no problem. There are a few more left up the slope." 5:30 A man: "What? Bears...?" 5:32 The instructor: "No... a group of tourists. Come on... they are gone to the valley." 5:43 "Today we won't teach ski lessons anymore." 5:46 To the bear: "Did you press the breaks, dear...? You've got tired, didn't you...?" 5:57 "Come on.... go to the woods, cause otherwise they will pick you up and relocate you, or who knows what's gonna happen to you... Yeah." 6:17 "You're nice, you're cute, but we don't socialise. Everyone goes on his own territory." 6:26 "And.... regarding food, I haven't had any to give you, so... maybe some ski lessons." 6:37 To the viewers: "So that's it with this recording... I made this video with the bear for you, so far you only had the one with the deer..." 6:46 To somebody: "Watch out! He's here..." 7:00 To the bear: "Hey you! Light-headed..." 7:03 To the people: "He's here, on this side. You should come all together..." 7:15 "He's gone into the woods. He's gone. It's OK now." 7:26 "Let's not stay close to the woods, so he won't show up on our way... little monkey!" 7:38 "Come on, come on!"
It was a very brave descision of the instructor to make the bear chase himself instead of students. I'm fascinated how chill the man is. Truly a professional
I don’t speak Romanian, but I can tell this person has a great respect and care for the bear by his tone and inflection. And the bears language seems universal!
Inca o data REMARCABIL CARACTER.

That skier is very brave. He slowed down a bit once he approached other people so they would be safe or not as startled and maybe fall. More than likely the bear was having fun, but you NEVER know with wild animals. Awesome video. Thank you for posting!
Unusual situation where the standard things to do in a bear encounter weren’t really applicable. Very brave getting the bear to chase you, leading it away from your students. Skiing switch and filming the whole time is just absolutely madlad. Bravo!
I am Romanian also and I did cycling for the last decades. In comparison to the packs of stray dogs that I met, and they were all insane, this bear looks quite nice and friendly :))
@@bca-biciclindcuaxel7527 I am sure that compared to the war in Ukraine, that bear means nothing. Is that the point ? The bear compared to stray dogs ?!!!
And...the chase is on!!! and after a nice Romanian person translated what this ski Instructor was actually doing to keep his group, including little kids, safe from Teddy Bear then he is a hero in my eyes. Great job Instructor sir..well done🥰. 💞 from Canada 🇨🇦
I met this legendary man in Sinaia while he was teaching skiing to a few students; very friendly and jovial big old Romanian man. When i told him he was a legend to take on the bear so effortlessly, he pointed below his ski jacket in humility and said, "nah, see, no big balls here, just normal balls!". What a guy!
M M Singh thank you for adding more to the back drop of this crazy cool story. It almost feels like i was there. Happy travels & Best wishes from Florida. 😁👍👍
Great job keeping his students calm by commenting and laughing at the bear's "cute" antics -- and especially for getting the bear away from the younger skiers. It may have been wary of the adults, but wouldn't be intimidated by a child.

After getting out of sight of his students, the instructor should have gotten farther away from the bear so as to not provoke longer chase. It is as equally important to not teach the bear to chase people as it is to lead him away from people.....
Any expert will tell you when a bear approaches a group. The GROUP is supposed to “look tall” (wave arms up high) and make as much noise as you can with your voice and any thing you have on you. This case may be smack your skis with the tips of your poles etc. neither he or anybody in the group did any of that. And if this happened before with this “ski instructor” maybe he’s just practicing to be a professional bear runner. The fact that he “led” the bear away from the group makes no sense. *You want to drive the bear away from you - back into the forest * he led the bear down the hill towards more skiers and directly in the path of his own students. Guys a dip wad
Oh my goodness this ski instructor is a hero!!! He risked his own life to save other people! And he was so calm when facing the danger! He deserves millions of applauses and gratitudes 😊BRAVO!!
It makes me think this instructor has seen war, to be this calm with a bear, but it could also be that he is very familiar with bears and recognizes that it is a juvenile that isn't really aggressive, or too aggressive, but takes the responsibility to get him away from the slope.
From what I understand this guy is a very professional and experienced local guide. I want to express respect to him for his professionalism and courage
How wonderful to watch this beautiful bear - obviously " playing " with the ski instructor. Thank you for the translation. I've watched this video 5 times - my compliments to the ski instructor who handled the situation perfectly and protected the people AND THE BEAR ! WONDERFUL !!
I missed the translation, so I'll watch again wit subtitle on. I love how the ski instructor lead the bear away from his group. Brave and responsible, guessing he knows the mountain well.
You’re so low IQ that I honestly kind of feel sorry for you. The bear would have ripped that guy’s stomach out and eat him alive, if he had caught him. None of this was a ”game” to the bear
Bears exist in the wild, the unforgiving, harsh wilderness. If they don’t get food, they die. They don’t have a McDonald’s or grocery store around the corner, like people do. The bear wasn’t joking around, he wanted to kill and eat the person for food. Yes it’s possible if the human had thrown the bear a bunch of food, the bear probably would have been happy with that (food + no risk = best case scenario for any animal in the wild). But short of having a ton of food to give the bear, the bear would have brutally eaten the person IF it caught him. The guy is very lucky he was a skilled and confident skier.
Sadly, I met a woman who was later killed running from a bear. It followed her up the tree, pulled her down, and killed her. She was a well known athlete in the area. The two friends that she had been with, who stayed together, were fine. Safety in numbers, based on the stats I've seen. Stay together.
Crazy. This guy has balls of steal. Playing with a brown bear that should be starving after waking up from hibernation. All while filming and being calm about it. You sir are badass. 👍
This brave man stayed calm, drew the bear away from the skiers, warned others and made sure to keep eye contact until he was sure the bear had moved on and exhausted it. Bravo.
He's not a cub. He's a yearling. European Romania bears in the Carpathian Mountains are typically a little smaller then the American bears. He's probably 17 months to 2 years old and that's when they typically leave their mothers. He's just exploring his neighborhood looking for whatever and hopefully he won't get hurt. Great job on the ski instructor for handeling the situation perfectly. Great video.
He handled this perfectly. A friendly bear begging for handouts can be dangerous. So he lead it away from his crew, and then the next crew, keeping its attention until it's playful energy was done. What a pro!
Watched this with my young son as an example of how a real man responds to danger. Keep calm, think fast and protect the vulnerable. Excellent job, sir. Thank you for the heroic example
It is great you showed this clip to your son. All - man and women - MUST develop COURAGE and WISDOM - only then will be capable of true love, of commitment, of great life. A proverb says: "Cowards die 1000 deaths before the one death overtake them"
Wow that’s a very skilled and courageous instructor. Even if it’s a young playful bear, it would be capable of inflicting fatal injuries. Must have been quite a scary sight for his students seeing him disappear over the hill with the bear sprinting after him.
Wow!! Enjoyed this! Great job keeping your cool! Leading the bear away, warning people to stay back.... Not sure how you managed to keep skiing in one direction and filming in another! Impressive all around!
It really shows how strong a bear's instincts are (as well as other wild animals). At first the bear seemed just curious, even a bit playful. As soon as the instructor started to ski, the bear's instinct to chase automatically kicked in. otherThis guy was obviously putting all the skiers as top priority. Good job, dude.⛷️🐻👍❤️
Looks like an adolescent. Clumsy and curious, not trying to make a kill. Not to suggest this wasn’t a dangerous situation. Good reminder as to how fast a bear can move. Glad no one, including the bear, wasn’t hurt. 🦋
Damn 😳 good thing he didn't fall while the bear was chasing him down the hill ...looks like a very experienced skier. Considering the situation, I'd say he actually handled this very well 👌 no harm no foul
Thé young bear shows his submission several times by lying down, posing his head on the ground etc. He tries many times to indicate his invitation to play. Although it is true that it’s never ok to feed the bears and yes, he « could » be hungry he demonstrates zéro agression, quite the contrary, only repeated « requests » to play, that would frighten the pants off most tourists. The ski instructor is HIGHLY professional, luring the bear away from the tourists (who all followed anyway, not too far behind) and even skiing backwards WHILE FILMING!!! So a BIG hero medal to the ski instructor for his professionalism (and backwards-skiing ability) and for succeeding at taking the bear away from the tourists. I suppose the next step is to set up training classes for all wildlife to teach them the border lines that humans have imposed on their wilderness habitat.
it seems unfair humans makes recreational areas through natural habitat and then act upset when bears, deers, foxes, etc. show up. it's THEIR land. we're just guests here.
Yeah, I thought it wanted to play and was indicating submission. It looks half grown. Is it thin? Should it be hibernating? I don't know. It would be sweet if we could play with bears, but a healthy fear of humans is probably safer for everyone. Too bad.
This guy is straight gangsta. he’s laughing as he’s getting chased by a bear. And then stops when the bear stops! Like…. There is no logic in that but I give this man some mad props. He’s not even screaming for his life. He’s just talking like he’s talking to a buddy on the front porch. 🤣 I love it but this almost gave me a heart attack.
Truth is this is a young bear, more curious than dangerous driven by curiosity and possibility of food, which is why it's so important not to feed bears who then learn to associate humans with reward. He handled this well, keeping other skiers in packs and making noise is a good deterrent. leading the bear away from nervous other skiers but always having the pace to escape himself. Well played.
That bear had a thing for you. Well done maneuver to lead the animal away from the rest of your family and the other skiers. The bear was tired from his downhill ski run and decided to chill-out back in the forest. Good work.
I think you should get the award for best "bear encounter expert" in this comment section. A lot of RUclips bear experts here seem not to get the point, some criticizing that he's "running away". He's a skiing instructor and doesn't want his groups to be in danger.
That bear was not just curious. When the bear was laying down in the snow, next to the edge of the slope, it was actually behaving just like a bear on a hunt would do. I.e. the bear tried to fool the prey by looking uninterested, but at the same time slowly advancing tactically, closer and closer. Subadult bears are aggressive and a little concerning it’s actions with so many humans. I’m glad no one was hurt nor the bear either. High five to cameraman with correct bear interaction and it seemed he was helping to protect the others and the others cameraman as well. I held my breath thru most of the video.
For those who think they understand whether the bear was aggressive, or playful, etc. Try watching more videos of bear encounters. Observe the bear's nature and see if you can decode the intent right from the initial frames of the video. I've seen many. Some bears climb into a guy's tree stand - seems distracted and non-aggressive, then suddenly does a test nip of his leg. Everything you think you know about reading an animal's intentions is from domestic animals. They have existed with humans for centuries. Even dogs have developed facial muscles for communicating their emotions which are absent from wolves. We can't take cues from what we think we know in the domestic animal context. Wild animals don't fit into this. They don't communicate their intentions. They don't anticipate what could happen next as they get closer to another creature - even aside from human encounters. The behaviour can flip in one second.
@@bestopinion9257 i totally agree. Also, as a protective measure, while horsemen are allowed in the natural parks of the Americans, motorcyclists and cyclists are prohibited.
Well it's not an ideal situation. Well handled by the main man. But we didn't see how it ended. The Bear did seem hungry. And that big run would have made him hungrier. And yes, you can see why you don't run, as running activates the Bears chase response. Over-all quite scary.
Yes they are skillful pretender. Often before attacking. Bear is not a stupid animal. It cannot get close enough prey without seeming firstly innocent.

I knew you had to be going backwards! Awesome work my man! ❤ That bear was living his best life in those 7 minutes!
@adi99fox you are a good guy with great hearth! What you did here is amazing! Wish you all good 🫀!
So, he is a kind of hero.
that man has balls of hardened steel. i would be absolutely petrified
Good he has knowledge & respect for the bear. 🙏❤
I'm not so sure about the aggressive part though, when it looks like he's being playful (e.g. 2:22), it may be a deceitful move for going straight into attack mode if you got close enough... 😋🐻
Outstanding job of maintaining your cool, while keeping other skiers safe. Respect from Toronto, Canada!
The filming skills of this man filming backwards skiing downhill is spectacular
It looked like he was skiing switch (backwards).
That’s because he’s a skiing instructor, he’s confident in his skiing skill
Its because of his huge balls of steal what causes a low centre of grafity.
Seriously! This was better than a scary movie!! 😂
@@powerbutton2694 Balls of steal? 😃 Where did he steal them from? 😉🙃
Maybe if we can find out we can help him get his own, instead of the stolen ones…😄 some real ones made of steel…😉😆
I don't know what impressed me more, how calm he was being chased by a bear or his ability to ski backwards whilst filming
Most badass guy on the planet... casually chatting up the bear and filming it while skiing. DAMN! Ballz of steel!
This was an amazing video. The bravery of the ski instructor to lure the bear away from the young skiers was courageous. Plus he was alternating between skiing forward then backwards and had to look behind him to see the other young skiers⛷ on the slope and earn them. The guy is a hero
100%
He skied a little too slowly for my taste 😂
So as a romanian, I can give a few translations to the people watching the video:
1. The guy was not mocking or provoking the bear, he was a ski instructor attending a class and he kept telling him to go to the forest and was trying to keep the people in the group from panicking. He kept calling the bear cute :)
2. The reason he made the bear chase him was to keep him away from the other people, in interviews he said this has happened before (in other words he wanted to provoke the chase instinct of the bear on purpose, so it goes after him instead of a child or something)
3. He was warning people as he was going down the slope that theres a bear in order for them to leave
Thanks for the explanation!
Thank,you
Thank you. That makes a lot more sense. Maybe they should do subtitles.
Need a bear chase dog.
Wonderful, thank you!
Keeping the camera focused on the bear during the chase was epic. Calm nerves prevailed - and he kept everyone safe. Well done! 🏆
Bro's got balls of steel. His tone was calm and didn't get high or nervous when the bear got really close
if you could understand Romanian you would see that this guy is a professional ski instructor who frequently has this kind of contacts with bears and knows how to react. he actually is protecting the tourist and attracting the bear to follow him. still courageous though. (with some kind of defending weapons probably)
he should carry a flare or a gun to scare it away, this is just reckless
@Vasile Gavrilan yeah thanks for pointing that out. Guess I skipped those Romanian classes while in Jr. High 40+ yrs. ago. I KNEW I'd need it someday. Dagnabit!!!
This guys’ ability to warn people, keep an eye on the bear, ski, scare the bear and more all at once is amazing. He’s lucky it was an inexperienced yearling though.
Right?!?! Bear whisperer
Totally agree about the ski and camera skills... Plus nerve!!
Bear!! Thumbs up.
Well, the bear was probably trapped after that...
That guy did an amazing job of filming the entire encounter.
He probably had gopro on his helmet.
Well done. You prevented a very dangerous situation for both the skiers and the bear. Your confidence and skills are very apparent. Peace
ENGLISH translation.
We have in this video a Romanian ski instructor (not Russian, as many people keep dreaming...)
Looks like a lot of people missunderstood what happened in this video, and they think the instructor provoked the bear.
I invite them to read this translation.
The ski instructor's name is Adrian Stoica, this is his channel.
During the whole video, he's been skiing backwards (hat off...) so this way he recorded the entire chase.
0:01 The instructor to the bear: "Hey you, grandpa' bear, get away from here... we've got work to do."
0:07 To the people: "Stop! Stop! Stop! Stay were you are, just a little bit. Let him pass by."
0:14 To the bear: "Hey brother! Come on, come on, come on..."
0:16 A woman in the background: "And now...? What we're gonna do?"
0:19 The instructor to the woman: "We'll let him pass by. You don't put yourself in his way."
0:28 A man in the background: "Stop! Stop! Stop!"
0:30 The instructor to the bear: "Come on, beat it to the valley, slowly."
0:35 The instructor to the people: "And after that, the group. Everyone stopped, right?"
0:39 A man: "Right."
0:42 The instructor to the group: "Come on... let's make some noise, so he will go. Make a little bit of noise."
0:53 To the bear: Hey partner... beat it. We are too many here, and you are alone.
Come on, come on, come on... huo! Huo! Huo!"
1:04 To the people: "Look... what a cute face he has! He doesn't care..."
1:10 To the bear: "My friend, come on... don't come closer cause we are not such good friends.
Come on... come on...
Go to the woods, to the woods...
To the woods, to the woods, to the woods... forget about us, leave us.
Come on, come on..."
1:38 "Oh... bravo! Very nice of you!" (He loughs).
1:45 "Are you kidding me...?
You're not allowed here. You're not allowed here."
1:57 "I know you're cute, but... everyone with his own business."
2:11 "Huoi!
You're not allowed here. You're not allowed here.
Don't you understand you're not allowed...?
Go to your woods.... I know you want something, but I don't have anything to give you."
2:24 A man in the background: "Doesn't anybody have food on...?"
2:29 The instructor to the bear: "You are adorable."
2:34 To the people: "So what now...? What are we going to do with him here?"
2:35 A man to the instructor: "Leave the skies there, and come here."
2:37 The instructor: "No. Because I have to go down slope to the students."
2:41 To the bear: "You're not allowed here! Not allowed! Not allowed!"
2:50 "That's it."
2:51 To the bear: "Bye, little bear!
Come after me... huol!"
3:01 "Let's make a contest... come after me!"
(He starts the race.)
3:06 He turns 180 degrees and continues to ski backwards during the whole race, while filming the bear and talking to him:
"Come on, dear, come on..."
3:14 "You're a light-headed!
I suggest you to go to the woods...
You are adorable!"
3:28 "Little bear, little bear..."
3:44 "You keep running, keep running, but there's nothing you can do about it."
3:51 "You are there, I'm here..."
3:58 "I'm gone dear, cause I've got classes to do.
Bye! And we don't stay to socialise for too long..."
4:11 "You are so cute! Bye...!"
4:21 To another group: "Watch out! The bear is coming.
Come on, take it easy and leave. All of you."
4:48 To the bear: "Come on, come on, come on...
We'll take another ride..."
5:05 He loughs...
To the bear: "Do you still can run...? Can you?"
5:15 To the group: "Everybody must go to the valley."
5:23 To the group: "You go forward, I'll stop him, no problem.
There are a few more left up the slope."
5:30 A man: "What? Bears...?"
5:32 The instructor: "No... a group of tourists.
Come on... they are gone to the valley."
5:43 "Today we won't teach ski lessons anymore."
5:46 To the bear: "Did you press the breaks, dear...?
You've got tired, didn't you...?"
5:57 "Come on.... go to the woods, cause otherwise they will pick you up and relocate you, or who knows what's gonna happen to you...
Yeah."
6:17 "You're nice, you're cute, but we don't socialise. Everyone goes on his own territory."
6:26 "And.... regarding food, I haven't had any to give you, so... maybe some ski lessons."
6:37 To the viewers: "So that's it with this recording... I made this video with the bear for you, so far you only had the one with the deer..."
6:46 To somebody: "Watch out! He's here..."
7:00 To the bear: "Hey you! Light-headed..."
7:03 To the people: "He's here, on this side.
You should come all together..."
7:15 "He's gone into the woods. He's gone.
It's OK now."
7:26 "Let's not stay close to the woods, so he won't show up on our way... little monkey!"
7:38 "Come on, come on!"
Thank you!

After getting out of sight of his students, the instructor should have gotten farther away from the bear so as to not provoke longer chase. It is as equally important to not teach the bear to chase people as it is to lead him away from people.....
I understood the word STOP

The guy is very lucky he was a skilled and confident skier.
it is nice to read the comments of smart people. thank you!
Ok that was so scary but so cute watching the bear run. Hopefully the bear is tired after his run. Brave instructor
This guy is amazing. You can tell he was leading it away from everyone else.
This is a good example to see for those who are thinking of running away from a bear.
Sadly, I met a woman who was later killed running from a bear. It followed her up the tree, pulled her down, and killed her. She was a well known athlete in the area. The two friends that she had been with, who stayed together, were fine. Safety in numbers, based on the stats I've seen. Stay together.

Too bad.
BRAVO!! your backwards AND downhill filming abilities are A+ amazing!!
I think he wanted the bear to follow him instead of focus on other people. He was waiting for the bear.
@@dezertson2011 True. Very brave thing to do.
@@dezertson2011 Exactly. He told to the bear, "common, let's have a race". He also told to the bear 3 times "you are beautiful". 😊
@@dezertson2011 Indeed. On the sound track, he explains that he was concerned the bear would head back up to where his clients were, now unprotected.
Ye I have also noticed it be very small grown bears are gigantic
Well that shows you how much I know about bears then. Thanks for the info!
Good observation I am wiser for this thanks I'll hold off on the urge to go give a bear a hug when I see one.
You are enjoying skiing and then look behind to find out a guy is bringing a charging bear😅
Incredibil comportamentul celui care a filmat . Un exemplu perfect. Ești de admirat ❤️. Video-ul ăsta îi unul dintre cele mai tari pe care le-am văzut
You Romenian are really brave!!!! What a beautiful scenario , Romania has Amazing wildlife treasure😲🐻❣️🇮🇹
Subadult bears are aggressive and a little concerning it’s actions with so many humans. I’m glad no one was hurt nor the bear either. High five to cameraman with correct bear interaction and it seemed he was helping to protect the others and the others cameraman as well. I held my breath thru most of the video.
Wow… so you took him down the mountain to get him away from the others? Amazing filming and calmness.
So so TRUE. thanks for setting the sheep straight!
True.... I've been a wildlife rehabilitator for 20 years now and I have to agree with what you said. Wild is wild. Observe and keep your guard up.

idiot, that bear wasn't hungry at all, only curious
@@timlabeaux8123 I'm an idiot for not wanting to be bear food? How would you know if the Bears Was just curious? Did you talk to him? You're funny
@@timlabeaux8123 Bears got food near streets from people in cars. Now he search for food where finds people. And this can finish badly.
@@bestopinion9257 i totally agree. Also, as a protective measure, while horsemen are allowed in the natural parks of the Americans, motorcyclists and cyclists are prohibited.
Hi Gary...I don't think the juvenile bear was as hungry as he was just plain curious...I really love this footage... : )
Well it's not an ideal situation. Well handled by the main man. But we didn't see how it ended. The Bear did seem hungry. And that big run would have made him hungrier. And yes, you can see why you don't run, as running activates the Bears chase response. Over-all quite scary.
I love how the guy was so calm and sometimes even laughing hat this bear chases him down hill.
He and the bear are friends down at the local pub...set all this up in advance for meeting chicks.
American, "We drink energy drinks to help us ski down hill."
Romanian, "We have bear chase us down hill."

Yes they are skillful pretender. Often before attacking. Bear is not a stupid animal. It cannot get close enough prey without seeming firstly innocent.
