i wish he pointed out subtle specifics like how the right hand reference from lenin to stalin was pointing at the fact that stalin was on the right side of the communist party.
its a nice little touch because stalin was different from lenin in that he believed in bringing a centralized government and bureaucracy to re-stabilize Russia which was in ruins after the Bolshevik revolution. this was very contradictory to what the revolution fought for in the first place, but at this point Lenin was dead and it was left in the hands of the people in the communist party. the right side of the party highly opposed the revolutionary ideals of a revolutionary state of left side of the communist party which conformed more to lenins ideals and had most of the initial Bolsheviks from the revolution such as Trotsky who worked alongside lenin from the beginning military-wise. stalin was the new guy who came, exploited the party, and got the power for himself
both sides are stupid anyways but its fun history to look into

@@kato4792Lenin was absolutely still a vanguardist, stalin just had less respect for Marxism and was more practical and brute force about accomplishing the goals of Lenin's start to a government, which is why Lenin preferred trotsky who was a more avowed marxist. Still didn't like each other though so good comment, just trying to help.

It makes sense that in the Western vs Eastern philosophers that they would start fighting, they are on the same team but none of them really got along in the real world, they all hated each other. Despite being on the same team.

It gave me flashbacks to my art history classes in the early ‘00s when the professor actually used a slide projector because most of the classrooms didn’t have the hardware yet to display PowerPoint.
The slide projector was ancient and a student would have to sit in the back of the class and wait for the prof to yell "Slide!" and hit the button to advance the slide to the next one.
I can relate and I don't even use PowerPoint for presentations
It makes sense that in the Western vs Eastern philosophers that they would start fighting, they are on the same team but none of them really got along in the real world, they all hated each other. Despite being on the same team.
I think I remember reading somewhere that Stalin actually really loved his wife, he was a violent thug before but it was when she died that he went complete sociopath.
I've heard about this, there are records he said:

during her funeral, and was seriously considering suicide.
However, I'm not too sure if he actually loved her. Excluding how history portrays him as a psychopath/sociopath, records say he wasn't really the best husband, and the wording of this quote (though could be translation error) is a little off.

My history teacher in freshman year of high school was very similar to that in personality. Now, I don't think he has a RUclips channel or anything like that, but he was also the varsity football coach at my cousin's school at the same time.
I like this stuff, I enjoy the fact he watches it and has a look over the outfits and costumes, but I wish he circled back to the lyrics and explained things as to why certain lines make sense. "I even crush motherfuckers when I'm laid in state" would've been a good one for example. I have no idea what makes that line, and I don't know how accurate it is. "Pride of Lenin took Trotsky out of the picture" references Stalin calling *himself* the successor to Lenin, even though Lenin himself did not want the man in charge, and Trotsky was the basically runner up to Stalin, but was forced to flee to Mexico where he was assassinated by Stalin's men in 1940. He was forcibly removed to prevent anything from stopping the dictator.
There's so much to unpack in all ERB videos, but the Russian Leaders one in particular has a lot of amazing moments because of things like that, Gorbachev ending the Cold War, that sort of thing. I'd love to see Mr. Terry unpack these at the end of a video, going through them bit by bit like a rapid fire history lesson!
Edit: I mean, Mr. Terry does say it's hard for him to catch everything, but I feel like if he had a little time he could record his immediate reaction live the way he currently does, but then have a more edited part right after where he gives more of a run through of as much as he knows in the rap, something he maybe has taken notes on, structured a little bit or at least goes through a bit more? I don't know, I feel like he could easily make a full video just on one of these raps at a time, but the editing is where it'd be most time consuming so I suppose I understand.

Plus, I could end you with a whisper to your wife line by rasputin was a nod to how people thought he was controlling the tsar and fking his wife.
@@urmumhuge5556 Exactly! A lot of ERBs best stuff has way more depth than most people would know, so there's a great opportunity to make reactions of a history teacher who can highlight them in a more structured way and all that, after their first and immediate response.
The picture line is also about Stalin editing his enemies out of pictures with himself after killing them
I really have to emphasize: "Oh, you don't wanna stand in the Path of Lao Tzu today. I'll make you mooove, bitch! Get out the Way!"
Everyone gets the Ludacris reference, but they miss how the Path and the Way are references to Tao.
They also just had to drag the Tao of Pooh in there.
Damn that Tao of Pooh line is layered. I always just understood it as a reference to Nietzsche’s sister’s exploitation of his mental state after he went insane. She’d parade Nietzsche in public and charge people to watch him shit his pants and act like a madman.

Actually I remember that as well now that you say it. Although I think it was said he did still feel for his son, but he considered it a matter of war, and wouldn't let the personality of it get to him, he knew they were trying to play weakness of family, and he would show, he has no such weakness.

For the Martin Luther King having his name on the signs I think you're thinking of those show Boondocks from Cartoon Network. Huey once said that quote and that's when dr. King realize that a street with his name on the side might not be the safest place and quote
They did an excellent job with Stalin's character. The beginning when he says "look into my eyes, you perverted witch," you can just feel the hatred and anger radiating from his character. Kind of unnerving, but in a good way. Gives me chills to be honest.

ERB has actually taught me a surprising amount of history. For example, I had no idea Putin was ex-KGB before first watching that one.
Smart move keeping it related to historical figures. This can help grow your channel without loosing focus on your original vision for the channel.

in the william wallace era the scotts never wore kilts on top of that the blue face paint was only used by the celtic tribes. not by the "scottish rebels" so - points for pointing out williams outfit was good.

In the video Wallace also says “that’s the Highland way”, but William Wallace was from the Lowlands. So even if kilts had been commonly worn at the time (though, they weren’t worn til about the 17th century) by Highlanders, Wallace wouldn’t have worn one because he was a Lowlander.
Wallace would have been in chain mail/armour, the whole lot.
While I'm a big fan and ERB has some really great stuff - I'm thankful that your first battle here, was actually my first introduction to ERB. It is actual real and somewhat receent history, it has good beats, and I in particular love the style of Lenin with it's aggressive drive and punch. There wasn't really a lot of entries in the ERB library back then, of this caliber, so I'm glad that is where I got onboard.

I get that he's a teacher and all, but isn't it just a good technique in general to use? Saying what you think kinda means nothing if you can't give a reason why you think it. Otherwise you're basically just screaming into the void, right?
Screaming into the void, to me, would be more like the readers not caring what you wrote. That may be the case, but I have parents that are teachers. The way he says it reminds me of them. Saying what you mean and why is unfortunately a lost art.

That wasn't the joke. Uber wasn't even big at the time. He was referring to his philosophy, the Ubermensch or Superman. A man who takes control of his life and does shit to improve himself and other shit.
