    whats the max screen weight for screen printing ? i did some big one with wood and was wondering if 7-8 lbs is too heavy

    • @Ryonet
      @Ryonet  Год назад

      Weight of screen is only important if your tools can not hold the screen properly.
      If your screen is 80lbs and your tools hold it properly, you can use the screen with no issues, and then you can reclaim etc... then 80lbs is fine.
      If the screen is 5lbs and you can do none of the above, then 5lbs is too heavy.

    Where do we find the exposure times

    • @Ryonet
      @Ryonet  7 лет назад

      Exposure times will vary based on the emulsion, mesh, and exposure unit that you use. A step wedge exposure calculator is an awesome and easy to use tool for dialing in your exposure times no matter what your set up! If you need help with exposure times for our products reach out and let our Success team know : )

    approximately how long should I leave my emulsion to dry before moving on to the exposure step? my "dark room" setup is not ideal so i literally have to stay inside until I've completed the process.

    • @Ryonet
      @Ryonet  8 лет назад

      +shakespeare85 Really, this can depend on variables like airflow in your room, temperature, etc... Just eye ball it until you know how long. You want to be sure it's completely dry.

    how important is it to have the scoop coater for the emulsion layer? Could it work alright to spread a thin layer with a squeegee?

    • @Ryonet
      @Ryonet  3 года назад

      Your emulsion deposit needs be be consistent and even. Emulsion exposure times are 100% related to emulsion thickness. If your emulsion coat is uneven, your exposure times are uneven / over and underexposed. Uneven coating will give you spots where detail disappears from over exposure right next to spots that are underexposed because the emulsion is too thick.
      Spreading emulsion with a squeegee will not make an even coating of emulsion :(

      @Logan Vaught you might be able to pick up film at a local art store. You are looking for ink jet film or water proof ink jet film. You may have a local screen print shop willing to sell a film as well. Some shops offer it as a service.

    After degreasing, is there a reason why the screen is dried with the inkwell side down?

    • @Judahpeter
      @Judahpeter 8 лет назад +1

      +DennisIsAMenace I was taught to dry the screen with the print side up. That means the inkwell side is up as well.

    • @Ryonet
      @Ryonet  8 лет назад +1

      +DennisIsAMenace Good question! This allows all the water to drip out of the frame. It's more important to dry your emulsion with the well up as this is optimal for binding the emulsion to the screen.

    • @Ryonet
      @Ryonet  8 лет назад

      +Art Barnett The color of the mesh shouldn't matter. If the emulsion is washing away after exposure, you are most likely not exposing the screen long enough. Different types of exposure units or lights require different exposure times, depending on the intensity of the light source. If the problem persists after increasing your exposure time, please call our support department: 1-800-314-6390

      Hey there! You can either print on those bags with water based, or plastisol inks. Whichever you choose, you'll need to make sure that it is low cure. If you choose to use water based, you can use our standard Green Galaxy line of inks, mixed with Warp Drive Low Cure Additive. You can find the inks and the additive linked below (See the video on the Warp Drive page for usage)
      www.screenprinting.com/cat/green-galaxy-water-based-inks

      If you want to print with plastisol inks, I would suggest getting our Epic Top Score inks, which are already a ready for use, low cure ink. You can find them linked below (See product pages for videos and information about the inks)

      As long as the emulsion hasn't been exposed to UV light you can still expose it. If it's already got the design burned in, then this screen can be used for a long time to come, many months or even years :)
