I’ll let you decide that one, but one thing is for sure it’s an absolute belter!
Well done Cavalex, this is my first purchase from the company & im sure it won’t be the last.
All I need to do now is build up a rake of coal hoppers for it to haul.

I've bought 2 Cavalex Class 56's for my layout that is being built for me. Can't wait to run them on my layout.

The Cavalex 56 is a fine model no doubt & if you’ve got sound fitted versions you’re in for a treat!

Modelu have got crew figures on sale for the Cavalex Class 56's. They do looks really good figures. Will buy some for my 56's.

Very nice John, it’s looks and sounds great, great running session to.
The nearest loco that sounds as good is a Hattons 66, which is in a box somewhere. That beast shakes the loft!

A fantastic loco, be very difficult to decide between the Accurascale 37 and the Cavalex 56 as to which is the best
It’s a tough call. 37s are my favourite loco. There’s 6!Accurascale 37s on the layout, there have been minor issues with one or two, nothing that can’t be fixed or worked around.
There’s only one Cavalex 56 & I’ll admit the real things I like, but not as much as the Tractor….
There’s something about the running & sound of the 56 that is edging it for me. I only really got one to see what all the fuss was about & now I wish I’d got another!!
It’s definitely a hard one to call…..👍
Looks the biz, it’s the sound quality that makes the difference and seals the deal.

I like to add a bit of realism to the layout in the form of graffiti where I can, normally those IOAs don’t all have it showing. For some reason all the graffiti seems to be on one side of the train, I must turn a few wagons around😆otherwise people will start to moan!

Definitely get a full rake of MGRs. This 56 looks superb in blue!
Yes it does look ace in BR blue👍 The task of starting a rake of HAAs has started already, I don’t think my layout is big enough to handle 32 of them, but I reckon it will work with around 20😳💰💰💰😂

Nice loco. I had the chance to get one but I didn't take them up on it. It does run well from what I have seen and defo think they have nailed it when it comes to quality. You know they have put thought into it as it comes in a cradle rather than the standard plastic shell. Tim
Yeah I have to agree, the quality control Cavalex have in place seems to be second to none.
I’ll be honest the 56 isn’t my favourite diesel loco, but I do have fond memories of watching them haul MGR trains as a kid. I was put off at first in buying a second hand Hornby one because of needing a good rake of hoppers for it to haul, looks like I’ll have to bite the bullet & start buying some more now!

Yep it’s a wonderful model no doubt. To be honest I don’t think there’s a bad livery in the Cavalex range, they all seem fantastic. Trouble is I’d like another one now 💰💰💰

This is the sound file provided by Cavalex for the ESU Loksound V5, a few places are using it to reblow decoders so that DCC ready models can be upgraded being as the sound fitted models sold out almost immediately. I've built a few Hornby 56s over the years and I always went for the Legomanbiffo sound file. It used to be the best 56 model and sound combination on the market IMHO, but has been comprehensively surpassed by the Cavalex model.
