That's one pretty turtle. Glad you are protecting the eggs, especially the gopher tortoise eggs, when you can. Some would say let nature take it's course, but I we have taken so much habitat away, I think it's best to give some back, when we can.
I live close to the Platte River and salt Creek in Nebraska. There is a box tortoise with the cracked shell that is scarred that has walked around near our yard for 12 years and we just leave him alone.
