There’s a pond near where I live that is infested with these turtles. Feed them and they become your best friend.

Infested, as in like they’re not native to your area? There’s a ton of people getting slider turtles for pets (or really any reptile, snake, bunny, etc. ) then at some point they decide they cannot keep them anymore so they just let them go out into the ecosystem they aren’t native too and they’re becoming invasive. 🌍
But what you’re saying is facts, give them food and treat them with respect and they will become your best friend 🐢💕

I have had a yellow bellied slider now for 14 years! We built a pond in our backyard for her. She is the sweetest turtle ever! Her name is Slowpoke but you are correct, she is NOT slow!

@@MuhammadBilal-pi3lo It does, I believe males have the tendency to lose color faster compared to females . I may be wrong , haha .

I have a Yellow Bellied Slider and I'm in the UK.
So they are not just in the US.

Not native to the uk, too cold. Few harsh winters and they are gone. Just released pets and their offspring.there used to be native turtles but we ate them all. Family of the musk turtle iirc

I have a 6 month old YBS and today was the first time I’ve seen her so busy sliding all over her ramp and diving back and forth into the water and she’s still going at it…. I also have a 9 month old male and he doesn’t do anything like what she’s doing, is that normal

I have one.....his name is goddrick. This man is not that calm lol. He does the hiss thing but once he's in the water I'll call him and he'll pop up and swim to me. I can't tell his motives.
