I'm from Kerala but living abroad. This is bringing back memories of Onam (Keralan festival) with extended family. The difficult part was having to sit on the floor and eating from a plantain leaf. But boy it can't get more eco friendly than that considering so many Hindu weddings in Kerala still serve food on the plantain leaf and that brings its own flavour and aroma.
Appam will not go with all the curries... It will go with the kuruma only... All other curries are to be used with rice..what he explained u is blunter... Also appam and curuma is not part of traditional sadya... Don't fool foreigner's... Most of all fully loaded sadya will only cost 200 rs maximum

You can carry coconut oil fried banana chips also. Very nice ones. It's taste is different than that of Tamil Nadu banana chips. Btw, the reason why banana leaf is used as plate is because the properties of banana leaf get transferred to the food which improves digestion & help maintain kuf, pitta & vaat as per ayurveda which improves your overall health. Btw, good to see Grand Hyatt now having Jaguar XJL. Very nice car, now it's Indian post purchase of Jaguar Land Rover by Tata.

Thanks for such a nice and special video about Kerala sadhya... As in your description Kerala sadhya is very underrated Indian food... There is a wide range of vegetable curries in Kerala sadhya... Even in your video there is only few curries... A typical Sadhya can have about 24-28 dishes served as a single course. In cases where it is a much larger one it can have over 64 or more items, such as the Sadhya for Aranmula Boatrace (Valla Sadhya). Bye the way keralites use nonveg food also... Especially fish. And there is no beef ban in Kerala... But I prefer vegetable food more even I eat nonveg... Also porotta or paratha is one of the most famous food in Kerala... Beef curry and porotta/ paratha is the best combination... But I don't like porotta/ paratha... And 650 INR for a sadhya is too much... But it's just coz you were in Hyatt...
