I am from Delhi and I had worked in Trivandrum in Kerala for almost 3 years. Sadya is one of the best food I have ever had in my life. One of the best Sadya I had was in Thalassery at my friends wedding. It was just wowww..man, I miss Kerala..will be going to Kollam in Kerala again in September for a wedding...looking forward for Sadya and Kerala :) ur videos are really good and yes, appam is not part of Sadya...Hahaha.. but it is also equally good :)

I'm from Kerala but living abroad. This is bringing back memories of Onam (Keralan festival) with extended family. The difficult part was having to sit on the floor and eating from a plantain leaf. But boy it can't get more eco friendly than that considering so many Hindu weddings in Kerala still serve food on the plantain leaf and that brings its own flavour and aroma.

Also appam and curuma is not part of traditional sadya... Don't fool foreigner's... Most of all fully loaded sadya will only cost 200 rs maximum

You can carry coconut oil fried banana chips also. Very nice ones. It's taste is different than that of Tamil Nadu banana chips. Btw, the reason why banana leaf is used as plate is because the properties of banana leaf get transferred to the food which improves digestion & help maintain kuf, pitta & vaat as per ayurveda which improves your overall health.
Btw, good to see Grand Hyatt now having Jaguar XJL. Very nice car, now it's Indian post purchase of Jaguar Land Rover by Tata.

Thanks for such a nice and special video about Kerala sadhya... As in your description Kerala sadhya is very underrated Indian food... There is a wide range of vegetable curries in Kerala sadhya... Even in your video there is only few curries...
A typical Sadhya can have about 24-28 dishes served as a single course. In cases where it is a much larger one it can have over 64 or more items, such as the Sadhya for Aranmula Boatrace (Valla Sadhya). Bye the way keralites use nonveg food also... Especially fish. And there is no beef ban in Kerala... But I prefer vegetable food more even I eat nonveg...
Also porotta or paratha is one of the most famous food in Kerala... Beef curry and porotta/ paratha is the best combination... But I don't like porotta/ paratha...
And 650 INR for a sadhya is too much... But it's just coz you were in Hyatt... If you go local restaurants it will be more cheaper... Bye the way kootu curry , Beetroot thoran are my favorites too and also Avial.. .😬
Anyway thanks again for such a beautiful video...

Kerala and Tamil Nadu have the real sambar. The sambar inn Bangalore/Karnataka is actually very very different with less vegetables, and a little bit of sweetness of jaggery/sugar in it. Even within Kerala the sambar tastes different in different districts. Palakkad is one place thta I know has one of the the best tasting sambar - with and without coconut. But Palakkad is not a place that has many tourist spots.

Actually only the kurma is a proper accompaniment to the appam in the food offered. There is vegetable and chicken stew, kerala egg curry, kadala curry Fish Moli etc. Which usually go with appam. All the others are actually what you eat with rice. Appam is never a part of the traditional sadya. Well no harm in variety right ?

Wonder why the chef didn't suggest the perfect curry combinatin for Appam(rice n coconut pancake) usually it goes with spicy stew(veg/nonveg)made with coconut milk or egg curry or black lentil curry or any non veg curry..

Sorry-I missed that part. It’s very rare a traveler get accosted with the taste of Kerala. It’s very ‘cocunuty’.Yet this cuisine is one of the best veg delicacies in the world.I wish you at least try sea food.Tamil Nadu is another place you get lot of vegetarian options.Great Vlog.I will share with my friends 👍
