Ngl I thought the comment on that episode would be cesspool, but it turns out quite tame. Some are wholesome even
Excepting a couple of goblins most of the comments were very nice.
As a OG trash taste enjoyer and Hasan fan. Most of us trash tasters are the type who enjoy a good episode regardless of the guest ,Hasan had a banger episode and all those dislikes ,I bet alot didnt even watch the Ep, they just came externally and disliked bc they caught wind Hasan was in it
@@mikegemme5404 that's how Hasan haters are. They see just his name and they go malding and losing their mind.
They started the episode with straight up saying it will all about anime. For people who bother to comment, their negativity was immediately abated.
There was a few, but they were being up straight up weird for the most part and not appealing to normie sensibilities.
I've never really watched Hasan but he really was one of my favourite guests. Had so many interesting things to say and I love that he had actually analyzed and engaged with anime in a critical way that I feel like we seldom see with the anitube community
He should probably stick to anime because I legitimately thought he had a mental disorder after hearing him talk about politics.
seldom? if u watch video essays i dont think so.
some channels: colleens manga recs, scamboli reviews, hiding in public
@@mono8476 it's more like the general audience. The average person doesn't put any thought into what they're reading or watching, and most have superficial level discussions about the shows. To find someone who has a keen knowledge in other subjects and recognise them when the author hints at them, or downright makes parallels to them, in their work and go online to point them out to the wider audience is always fun, because you struggle to find these discussions the wild in the first place
It was funny to see the trash taste boys be blown away by the idea that people who make anime have opinions and worldviews and that is reflected in their art. It's funny because it means the anime fans trying to argue against it are like "actually I don't think the artist put any thought into this whatsoever"
I mean both of them can exist at the same time. Some mangaka definitely put shit in their art just because it looks and sounds cool.
@@joyeboye_ well why do they think it's cool in the first place? in some way, small or large, the decisions we make are influenced by our own lives and you will find ways to create parallels in your work, intentionally or unintentionally.
@@joyeboye_ kubo literally said he took shit from other culture just cause it looks and sounded cool.
@@joyeboye_ oh yeah both can be true, but i'd say in general a lot of the anime stories we hold in high regard are like that because the mangaka had more to say than "look at all this cools shit". Even when what they have to say isn't always good or logical or coherent.
@@baileyk One of the directors of Evangelion said they only added Christian themes to be different. Completely superficial. It’s a completely valid opinion to assume themes in an show are not that deep, just as it is valid to think there’s more substance to it. Detail doesn’t necessarily mean intent.
it blows my mind that people don't think One Piece is political, the culture war has rotten people's minds and the education system is so lacking that the average person doesn't realize how revolution, slavery and war is politics, and instead thinks "political" means climate change, guns, saying merry christmas, or having trans people in a video game
Oh I fully agree. It really hit for me when they BURNED THE WORLD GOVERNMENT FLAG. Even if you disregard real world politics the internal politics of the series is fairly intense.
The people who miss it are people who close their ears and eyes at the first sign of what they consider "political."
because of the word " politics ". They don't wanna associate with that word. Similar how the word " feminism ". People don't know what it actually means technically and hence hates it
Technically, everything is political/everything is politics. I doubt it would be of any significance if all people learned or knew such intricate stuff/mechanisms and even if they do have the knowledge, I doubt they'd be able to use it well enough.
How one piece was made and produced; the writers, the directors and even the character's dynamics not just in one piece but in every single anime have politics in them. I doubt it would be useful for most people to have the ability to dismantle the power dynamics and shts from anime because it probably isn't the reason they're watching it.
politics is literally everything, so then everything is political, then whats the point of pointing it out?
There may be a lil "culture shock" because the boys are famously apolitical on the podcast, but I think the general vibe from the video was great!
iirc in some episodes, they touch on politics though not talk about it deeply
They talk about politics all the time, they just don’t engage with politics beyond the point that they’re familiar with it - they pretty much only talk about healthcare, urbanism, and immigration, but those are all political topics.
@@Necroskull388 Compared to a political commentator they might as well be apolitical. They talk about politics as much as the average person
@Jon Paul Cuellar yea its mostly stuff that affects them very directly or just part of the convo they're having like talking about how Japan is different etc. Literally everything they talk about is politics in some sense, but they only talk about the outcomes (like most people), and not the structures (like actual political commentators do)
@@mang_0nim81 i feel like on the rare times they touch on politics it does tend to be stuff that's pretty easy to take a stance on. maybe that is "apolitical" since to actually be devoid of political beliefs is physically impossible
I feel like people with the "AOT is a mecha anime" take i feel like people fixate too much on the "is a titan a mecha" and they miss the part where mecha anime as a genre isn't just about giant robots. When you consider how the show works and the role the titans play, there is a lot of similarities between AOT and mecha anime
people really forget that the titans in aot are literally weapons of war and that mechas in mecha anime are weapons of war
People also say, that the titan shifters transform into titans, I always see it more like they are summoning them around them
What's funny is that the mangaka of AOT explicitly said he practically ripped off the mecha visual novel Muv-Luv Alternative when making the plot of AOT since he's such a huge fan of Muv Luv. So of course AOT would end up being similar to a mecha when it's main influence and inspiration is one.
power rangers is a mecha live action
while thats true, mechas still have to be mechanical, the mechanical aspect is part of the appeal, you can't just take away that requirement even though yea there is a lot of similarities between AOT and mecha anime.
hasan has slowly but surely been convincing me to embark on my 1500 episode One Piece journey
If u have tym just do it😅
Just read the manga coloured much better option I think
Do it
I did after the podcast. Except I started One Pace instead (45% shorter).
Unless you want to waste time with some of the worse pacing, just go for the manga
YEAR OF PR BOYS LETSGO
All of the vids comments were really positive. Shits poppin this year.
I've watched clips from Trash Taste centric channels when Hasan's involved (like during his Japan trip with CDawg) and yeah, most of the comments are super wholesome. Lots of them have never watched any of Hasan's stuff outside of those interactions and they're super in to it! You get the bad faith commenters who come in and try to drama bait but then they get dunked on as well. Good shit 👍
Didn't even know AOT is Flesh Mecha is controversial. I heard this take back in 2013
Yeah for real why is anyone acting like this is a new take? Shit has existed since the beginning of the anime
How can Connor and Garnt watch so much one piece and think its apolitical, are they just looking at the colours
Joey had the brain cell and Connor returned to monke
jokes on u they read the manga
To be fair to Connor he isn't that far in. When he gets to like Marineford he will know
Trash Taste community is pretty chill. I only knew of Hassan prior to this episode but he seems pretty chill. He just seems like every other weeb imo hanging out with his friends.
The reception was largely positive. Everyone made it sound like the TT community were a bunch of reactionary weebs but nah, I only saw a few of those comments
As someone who writes I definitely get the "the curtains are blue" trope and it's definitely true, but a ship name in an anime about ships and major plot points lining up with leftist values aren't the same as arbitrarily making the curtains blue.
It's everything put together. The Revolutionary Army, Bentham & Ivankov (I mean C'MON. This is from early-to-mid 2000's Japan of all places), Yamato, the Che Geuvara photo... Try looking at the Go D. Ussop clip from a leftist perspective. The clip ends with Ussop using his own "sacrifice," to convince everyone to save his little friends from a factory and save themself. Are you dense?
I think it's harder to spot when it's "politics" that most sane people agree with. One Piece's world is so backwards that capitalism is barely a thing, they're at feudalism. Rebelling against absolute monarchies just seems so natural to many of us that it sometimes doesn't even register as politics.
One Piece doesn't have the worker aspects of what many modern people associate with leftist politics like strikes, collective bargaining.
Yes. The boys are real dummies sometimes
AOT is mecha take makes even more sense once you think about the similar themes.
The AOT crew is fighting against an imperialist opressive regime just like in gundam.
Well AOT's author said that his main inspiration is Muv-Luv Alternative, which is a mecha visual novel. Makes perfect sense I'd say.
I'm not a fan boy or a hater of hasan but his presence on Trash taste was good. Is it my preferred episode? No but it is really good. A lot better than some of the other guest episodes I've seen
So shocking for me the Hasan x Trashtaste. Was so weird even when he started hanging with Connor😂 hasan always crosses over the most random communities. This was so good though, I’d be so happy if he moved to Japan and joined the podcast for good🎉
This and among other things have shown that Hasan is a good opportunist and rhetorician, proud of him.
hasan outing numi the vtuber was the funniest crossover followed by this collab with trash taste. both were great haha
I mean they have mutual friends, Ludwig for example.
Man I can't wait until Hasan gets to Fishman Island
I live for weeb hasan
there are some dragon ball fights that hold up really well and amaze me that they were made in the 80's / 90's. Goku vs perfect cell, piccolo vs android 17, ssj2 gohan vs cell, goku vs piccolo jr in the tournament, and the GOAT scene kamehameha vs galick gun
How do people not realize how political one piece is????? ITS LITERAL EVERYWHERE IN THE SERIES
One of the best episodes for real
As someone from not hasans community I thought he was a great guest. I liked his takes on the anime and the flesh mecha. It was great anime takes something fresh.
Yeah Hasan was a great guest. I actually enjoyed his more analytical approach to talking about anime, you don't really get that often and its nice to hear once in a while.
he should honestly just join the podcast
@@douglasmello6567he's right tho, lil bro 😂
I think 145 episodes in is a little too late for a new member bro
cant take that job from Chris Broad

only 9 of the Titans are flesh mechas, the rest are vaccine injuries :)
hasan and chris broad debate team LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Chris will scoff at a lot of the leftist stuff. I doubt he would be down.
I loved this episode tbh
Someone’s gotta convince Hasan to watch Code Geass, aside from the mecha scenes, I’m sure he’ll love it.
the ep was great, i was waiting for it for a long time and its been a while since ive seen a 2 hour podcast without skipping. I do gotta say that within politics i do agree with some hasan takes and i disagree with other ones, so i wouldnt say i like or dislike him. But the ep was interesting, enjoyable, funny and honestly it wasnt like hasan was throwing his views to your face.
I'm not Hasan's fan or anything, just occasionally watch his youtube video and sometimes I agree, sometimes don't. But I think it was one of the best episodes of trash taste, I enjoyed every second of it and too bad it was just 2 hours.
Hassan''s episode is probably my 3rd fav. 1st would be Pete and 2nd is Nilered.
My favourite is also the Pete episode. Dude is just an amazing storyteller.
At the end Hasan convince me that AOT is a Mecha anime lol
They were right. Hasan needs an anime focused channel
This giant weeb sold me on one piece being revolutionary. Our generations das capital. Toobased
The last chapter is serialized and it's finally revealed: the One Piece was Communism all along. I would laugh my ass off for decades.
@🎭x. I just know it's going to be the friend's we made along the way. But God would I be a happy puppy if it was the Comrades we made along the way 😂
Sitting at a big box bookstore reading manga all summer was the ultimate weeb experience of the 00s, you CANNOT change my mind 🤭
10:30 Uh, no?? God his chat has no idea what they’re talking about sometimes
Lmao
What is Hasans take on anime in a nutshell ?? I haven’t followed his stream for a whilw
I loved DBZ, still do... but Hasan is right. I tried rewatching DBZ with my kids recently and it moves so ridiculously slow, so padded. DB Abridged has much better pacing (and comedy).
DBZ Kai is still one of the best shonen anime out there.
kai fixes every problem the original anime had. Just watch kai
I had a friend stop watching Abridged because he said it felt like less of a parody and more a re-cut with humor
And I was like... yes, and it's awesome
@@grim_glim whoa

ngl I opened the comments on the podcast and the edited video of the Kobe livestream knowing that there will be people hating the idea of him being there with blind rage but some of the outrageous claims I read were actually unbelievable
AoT is a mecha anime because it's literally about all the same political points every mecha anime has made.
Ps: I don't care how left One Piece is. I'm not doing it. Y'all will never get me.
I want to but damn that length. I still want to play Elden Ring lol
2nd best trash taste, only thing that was better was Ladybeard
I'm not a fan of Hasan, but that episode is a certified banger.
Heyy I don't normally watch Hasan but I was like he's alright when I watched the TT episode. He's probably going to get a lot of hate from the tt fanbase tho because that's such a mixed bag
Nah. The majority of the fanbase is chill. You will see a few idiots hating Hasan like they did with the Poki episode but the majority are quick to shut them.
The comments are pretty alright tbh, the multiplying dislikes are a bit much though
the majority of trash taste viewers watch for the trash takes and trash taste
@@ajcliff8642 Hating Hasan is actually the intelligent thing to do.
Hasan argues politics like how most anime fans argue about their favorite animes. But when he's talking abt anime, he actually seems pretty chill. Imo, it's the online platform that prioritizes constant high stimulation that rewards Hasan's behavior when he streams. I don't disagree with most of his takes but I feel like we are unable to criticize the system we're operating on since it's what we've deemed normal.
"Zelda is 17" I mean, post-calamity Ganon, sure. Once Link saves her in BOTW, she's 117 years old, just like him lol they're the oldest iterations in the series
13:13 me who read berserk in 3 days: I see no god up here..... other than me lmao
In three days? What a loser, not even taking the time to digest their food.
Joey and Garnt are caught up or nearly on par with the manga, right?
How can they think One Piece is not political EVEN AFTER WANO???
That's insane to me lmao
I think they were trying to not offend average weebs. Whenever he brought up anything about politics they would kind of chuckle awkwardly and try to change the subject.
Next month, please react to this reaction video lol
I dont think he ever explained why he considers AoT a mecha. I would like to know cuz I have counters. Little guy gets bigger... DBZ ozario forms. Little guy can make big body parts he controls... Tokyo ghoul. And little guy controls a big guy... Parasyte. I'm not in this boat if y'all consider any of these mechas, so why AoT?
"ivankov power is trans-ing people" thats it dude, i lost it, hasan needs to comeback
95% of the video is just replaying the episode...
Brook the classicalist Austrian composer
How could one piece NOT be political? They have a ruling class that literally owns fishmen as slaves and a police state
Also, it’s hard to argue Usopp is racist on the basis that his lips are big because Brook, the Austrian guy, also has big lips when he’s alive
You mean Hasan eats while episode plays
Would you consider Cell at Work a Mecha anime?
16:00, 27:20
Hasan just needs to start making seasonal anime reviews from a leftist perspective we all want it come on now
Sailor Moon had trans characters way before One Piece in 1997
ngl i dont like watching hasan but this episode was a banger
You’ve got to keep in mind they once had a guest on who’s infamous for drawing CP, Snuff and bestiality Doujins and that barely got noted so it’d be wild if they got hassle for having Hassan on.
ShindoL?
Yeah but he isn't as well known so its harder to be outraged about it. I also feel like a lot of it has to do with some of Hasan's fans more than him himself. I like Hasan but his fanbase is large and he described it as basically twitter. I think a lot of people are worried about introducing a whole new fanbase like that to trash taste. Still probably stupid but it's not just about hasan
😭
@@mang_0nim81 That’s the one, still makes me feel sick to my stomach that they platformed the creep but hey, not much point in complaining about it.
@@SadBirbHours damn what… which episode number was that?
This was a great TT episode. I'll be honest, I don't care for Hasan's political stuff, but I really enjoy the other stuff he does. And yes, Attack on Titan is a hot damn mecha anime
Jar Jar Binks was racist. As a Gen X black man sitting in the theater I was like WTF is the Trade Guild members, Watto and Jar Jar except racist characters. It was hard to watch and made me not want to watch star wars anymore. I was like, why did he make them even speak english?
Baki is the best political anime lol.
this is why gender bender hentai is a genre in japan
I didn’t think I would agree with Hassan going into it, but damn he’s based, let him cook
Hasan is the biggest weeb confirmed
Your DBZ take was the only wrong one bruh
I can't believe One Piece is mind controlling our kids to be trans. Sinister indeed
i don't ever watch hasan, and i just know him for his political takes and controversial opinions. When I watched the episode, I thought it would be cringe and annoying to watch but I loved it.
Bon Clay basically has the power of indominatable queer spirit
Anyone find it weird Hasan is embarrassed to have fun?
Aren't all weebs?
Gonna be honest, Hasan as an individual person is neat, good dude & insightful on a lot of topics but man reading these comments makes me glad I don't follow him, such a braindead fan base
Argument:
AoT is not a mecha anime, even by meat standards. It's just bigger meat armor, which is an extension of the person's body. Mecha, I would argue is a separate entity from its pilot. It should be something that the pilot had to physically ride on. In AoT, the titans are manifested from the person's body.
So in my humble opinion, it's not a mecha.
If, say, a character used a device able to summon a giant robot out of thin air to pilot, would that be considered a mecha by your standards?
Is it in the same genre as Ultraman?
@@shizar998 that would be mecha, as long as it's a separate entity that didn't come from the person itself.
@@fluidthought42 It seems so.
@@vhalrougelarfouxe the titans don't come nor are part of the person in AoT, they're send to them through a network that connects all eldians by ymir (the founder). The pilot may leave the titan partially and get back into it at anytime.
People that say dbz didnt age poorly either are going completly on nostalgia or havent watched any good animr
it was kinda sad seeing the boys push back on hasans leftinst views on the anime. the curtain is just blue view they kinda ended up having is so fucking sad/cringe
Did you watch the episode?
@@ADSNavarro yea i did, you can see multiple times them trying to shy away from hasans takes, it’s upsetting seeing it
@@kamizzy5215 I saw them creating a debate, not shying away, you're talking JUST about when Hasan was talking about Dragon but mfs were very receptive and created a disscussion
Unfortunately it's super common for content creators to be uneducated on/avoidant of political topics. I've watched almost all the podcast episodes and they'll only vocalize popular political takes like "antivax people bad". I think Connor is the most socially aware but even then the other two seem uncomfortable when Connor talks about how workers in America are overworked.
@@kamizzy5215 i think you'll find that they actually do share your views, the issue is that your frame of reference in this episode is from a political commentator. he just consumes media differently and is presenting a new way to look at it, but it doesn't diminish how the others want to watch their anime.
it would be like being disappointed in someone for not realising that naruto has political themes, even though all they remember was how sick the kakashi vs obito fight was.
I dislike Hasan, but even I acknowledge that it was a banger episode.
With that said, I disagree with the AOT mecha claim. I will stipulate I have yet to read past the 1st volume, but if the pilot becomes the vessel to control the titan then it shouldn't count.
In Gundam, ratatouille, Eva, Gurren Laggan and other mecha anime the primary factor is that the vessel exists and is present prior to and after the "pilot" exits the vessel/mechanism.

Not the Nazis really, but Stroheim certainly. Also pretty sure I butchered that spelling lol.
I thought it was weird too. But it didn't kill my enjoyment, like Hasan said, it's fucked up in some places, but it's still cool
@@Alex_Barbosa no strohiem was shown as the monster I’m talking about just cause he has blind patriotism and brute force will and common sense watch back his introduction and your whole point is completely mute
@chris etheridge yea his introduction was villainous, but by the end he was celebrated everytime he was on screen. You can't take many things in Jojo seriously, but I definitely think they portrayed him as heroic after the initial introduction.
@@Alex_Barbosa he was celebrated for his help with the pillar men(and even then not really he just saved Joseph’s life which I mean hey he saved the whole world) and then im immediately got mowed down like a dog in Stalingrad tbh he is the perfect example of a nazi he’s just a blind brainwashed idiot who might not be fully evil but commits horrible acts anyways he’s also more like the nazi treasure hunters from Indian jones than the straight up monsters still evil don’t get me wrong
it’s so funny because garnt and connor are like stereotypical “atypical” and then joey is like a literal conservative. and super unsurprisingly these dumbasses fall into the “anime isn’t political” group of people and then proceed to desperately resist any political interpretation and chalk it up to for example Oda being a “history weeb” 🫥
