Don't ditch the 5W adapters. They charge slowly, but keep the battery cooler while charging, thus improving its life span.

5W is making chargers overheat, not the phone overheat. I can say barely minimum at least 10W if you don’t want the charger overheat.
18W and 20W are OK for those need to charge an iPhone or iPad faster. But do note that the phone might get a bit some heat than 5W and 10W. But not that much.

I learnt so much from this video, thank you. Finally I can sort all my charging bricks and know what is what. Really love the visual you used by lining them all up like that as well.

First off faster isn’t always better. When I got to sleep speed is unimportant. Having said that I purchased an aftermarket MagSafe charger that came with wall plus cable and puck for $25. I’m wondering why they had to change the USB. Im sure money had nothing to do with it. Albeit in a few years it won’t matter much because eveything else will be a dinosaur.

i was told by the apple lady today that she doesnt recommend me using my macbook m1 power adapter to charge my iphone 14 pro. what am i suppose to use then? i alreaedy paid so much for iphone apple couldnt include a power adapter - she said it would mess up the iphone battery - why is this? Why do they have different watts of power adapters?

I didn’t realize the point about the “pull” nature of the phone with the power! I guess I always assumed it was a “push” relationship.

Lol it also comes down to battery health xD. I bought the newest iPhone coming soon and I bought the lowest adaptor 5 watt type A even though the phones comes with iPhone type c. Everyone is saying continuous high wattage usage degrades battery quicker. Planning to get anker 20 watt pro adaptor if I’m in a pinch but yeah.

So do you have to also purchase a magsafe specific phone cover in order for it to work?

Great question, and I’ll be doing a whole video on MagSafe soon. While there are MagSafe specific cases, you don’t have to have one in order for it to work. It can work just fine with a regular case.

Pay attention to the amperage instead of wattage.
Iphone is 1A, ipad is 2.4A.
Mixing the iPhone and iPad chargers will shorten the life of the battery if you use a 2.4A charger with an iPhone.
