The nice thing about Apple chargers is they allow you to easily swap the plug out (on some of them) for other markets. I use this one when I travel and makes it much easier to charge lower power devices.
Very true and great point! It also makes them bigger.
I have the 10w Apple USB-A charger, I guess at some point they upped the power to 12w. Thanks for the review!
Yeah, the 10w charger is in the list too.
Can this charger be used for iphone?
Yes, it will. As usb A device and 12 watt output it may not charge as fast as some of the modern devices available.
this adapter keeps my iPhone 11 BH for almost 4 years. My iphone BH is still at 80% now
Yeah, since the device manages the charge it takes, my phone, the 10R, is still is in great health since it chooses to charge slower many days to keep the battery health in good condition, even though I use the maximum speed charger with it (18W).
How much time it will take for fully 100% Charge ?
My apple 5 watt brick is 10 years old, my 2 apple 12 watt adapter is 7 years old. I use them almost daily. Quality stuff
Yeah, that is one thing they did on the early adapters, quality. They are not very efficient though but for overnight charging a phone, they do the job.
@@AllThingsOnePlace do you think they change most of what’s inside that’s why it’s not as quality as before?
i just bought 1 of this i dont need fast charging, is it safe charge my iphone with this?
Yes, it is perfectly safe for that.
So I have an AMP tester, and this brick is only charging my iPad Air 4 at 1.45amps, isn’t supposed to deliver at least 2amps consistently? I tested the charging rate at 44% battery level. Using an original Apple USB A to C cable.
That’s probably correct. The iPad Air 4 has power delivery so requires an adapter with that technology to maximize its charge rate. This 12 watt adapter is 5v only and can deliver 2.2 amps if the device can use that much at 5 volts. The iPad likely wants to negotiate the power it uses and this adapter can’t do that so defaults to a lower and safe charge rate of about 7.5 watts. Which would fully charge the battery in about 4 hours.
@@AllThingsOnePlace Gotcha, sounds about right, this came with my iPad Pro 2017 12.9”. And that one does draw 2.2amps.
Can I use this adapter with my iPhone 15 pro and pro max, I find the the apple 20 watt heats up my phone too much, I only charge my phones overnight
I'm not sure. With the USB C phone now, not sure if they kept compatibility with older USB A ports. I'd expect it to work fine.
My 12W adapter stopped working , is it repairable ???
Not really. The adapters are usually welded closed and then the insides are filled with material. It can probably be brought back to operational with considerable time and effort but it won't ever go back together and wouldn't be considered safe at that point.
Shit, I just ordered this adapter for my new iPhone 13 mini, thinking it would be wise to get an original non fast charger. After seeing this review I regret not buying an aftermarket charger instead. Do you, whoever reads this, believe only using 12 watts is better for the battery than something capable of the maximum 15 watts my 13mini can draw?
Well, the best one is sometimes the one you have. In this case from 12 to 15 watts my guess is that won’t have a serious impact on battery life. There are some more efficient low power offerings out there in terms of chargers.
@@AllThingsOnePlace Ill look into low wattage Anker charging bricks. They seem to score good on average and are readily available. Do you think going 5 watts is the way to go, or would you consider that torturing myself?
@@peaceupmtown haha, yeah, 5W is extreme. To each their own though. I charge at the maximum speed, my phone is 5+ years old, it's still in excellent battery health but that experience isn't for everyone, iphone so 'fast' charging is 18W, which is reasonable if managed.
Go to the battery settings on your phone and set it to charge up to 80-85%. It will prolong your battery life (as long as you don't drain it to 0% all the time).
