    I actually have this because it came with my Macbook Air, but I used it more frequently for my Iphone.

      Yeah, it works to charge just about anything with a usb c port.

    Nice video mate! I agree, $50 for a 30W charger is pretty overpriced. I once bought the 5W Apple USB-A charger for 20 Euro, same price as the 20W Apple USB-C charger!

      Yeah. Apple beat everyone with the 140w brick but the short game leaves a lot to be desired.

      Apple has always been eating people's money. Their accessories are so fragile that they are expected to break!

    One of these came with my MacBook Air. Works fine but gets very toasty. Christmas of 21 I ordered my mom a pixel phone from Google. The order got messed up so I bought her another Galaxy instead. Google gave me $25 Google store credit for the trouble so I bought their 30w pixel charger just because. Tried it on said MacBook and it stayed nice and cool while charging. So long story short the Google 30w brick might be a better option

    Do you have any recommended adapter with good earthing? I'm using a 3 pronged plug but it's still not grounded because the round slot on the adapter is connected to the plastic housing of the plug.

    • @AllThingsOnePlace
      @AllThingsOnePlace  2 года назад

      It is very rare to find a grounded power adapter. Earth is generally not required if no exposed metal sections are present. Double insulation on all parts. The best chance at finding something with earth is probably a laptop adapter. I will have to look around to see what I can find.

    Hi,
    I just got the new ipad pro and would like to know what's the best charger for it?
    Thank you

      @AllThingsOnePlace  2 года назад +2

      Hello, the Apple adapter featured is obviously a choice, I would look elsewhere though. I don't specifically know what is the best because I haven't seen everything! The best one I have tested in the 30 watt class, plenty to charge an iPad, has been the Belkin Boost Up 30W. If you want something more universal the Amazon Basics 65W was not bad. Check the compatibility list before buying of course!

    I have a DJ controller. but I want to connect it with my iPad 10.2 2021 which comes with a 20W charger. When I make the connection with the lightning connector to USB 3 adapter for camera, it gives me an error and says that it needs more power and the controller turns on but goes crazy. the question is; You can with this 30W one. Please help

      So many things unknown right. Check the controller for it's power needs. You probably need to separately supply the controller power to use it with the iPad. But other wise I don't know what you are connecting to what and when with your comment details. Also, I would contact the controller manufacturer for help.

    Hello, You seem to be the person to ask this question to. I bought a late 2020 macbook air m1 laptop. It didn’t come with a charger. So i ordered a charger. A 90w charger. The laptop calls for the 30w in your video. Will the 90w cause the laptop to not charge?

    • @AllThingsOnePlace
      @AllThingsOnePlace  Год назад

      No damage, that is fine. Laptops can use more power during charging with their larger batteries. The device decides how much power to consume, up to the limit as reported by the power adapter. A 30 watt adapter will work, but a 90W adapter will work faster.

    Hello From Bangladesh.
    Can I use this charger to charge my camera like osmo pocket 3? Will that support 30W fast charge through this 30 watt charger? I hope you may reply. Thank you

    • @AllThingsOnePlace
      @AllThingsOnePlace  4 месяца назад

      not sure. If it supports PD charging then this apple charger should be great. If it uses a different protocol like QC or VOOC then this will only charge at 10 or 15 watts and 5V only mode, or not at all.

    in your reviews, you don't praise apple chargers. but I have a baseus 65w and noticed that when charging via the original apple cable for apple watches via baseus, the watch is buggy (the screen slows down, does not immediately respond to clicks) . noticing this, I immediately switched the charging to the original apple unit and the glitches disappeared. just before that, I used only the original apple chargers and did not notice such glitches when charging.

    • @l7l7l7lful
      @l7l7l7lful Год назад

      I thought that buying not the cheapest adapter I would not be afraid for my devices. I was looking for information about something similar on the Internet and found a mention that similar glitches led to a broken touchid on iphone 6 and later models.

    • @AllThingsOnePlace
      @AllThingsOnePlace  Год назад +1

      Yeah, I don't know about the 65W chargers, I honestly don't use them because they aren't very good. I have a GaN 5 adapter from Baseus that has been released to solve the specific concerns of charging stopping and issues related to that. I haven't looked at it yet. There is the obvious advantage that Apple charges do work with Apple devices. They guarantee that. I have been charging and using my iDevices (watch included), while plugged in sometimes, with the Baseus 100W chargers for a long time now, multiple devices on one charger, with a laptop or other devices plugged in too (4 ports isn't enough, ha), never have had even a single glitch. The power does renegotiate occasionally, on plug and unplug of devices but other than that everything is charged and nothing is broken. Doesn't mean they're perfect, far from it.

      @l7l7l7lful Год назад

      @@AllThingsOnePlace Would you be interested in conducting tests with charging apple devices through original and baseus- type devices using original test wires and or baseus wires ? I have looked through a huge number of reviews, but no such testing has been conducted anywhere, although what I noticed when charging devices from baseus suggests that it would be useful to conduct such testing.

    $44 for aUSB C charger is ridiculous. I've got tons of old computer power supplies laying around for free that can crank out 250watts. . Is there any way to go from a 5v molex connector to USB-C...

    • @AllThingsOnePlace
      @AllThingsOnePlace  2 года назад +1

      You can certainly do it, it is a bit hacky but it can be done. I needed 20 amps of 5V on USB ports for a CD ripping machine I built a bunch of years ago (ripping 10 CD's at once is much better than 1). Basically soldered a bunch of USB ports onto an old PC power supply. Works great. It would certainly charge a lot of phones at once but would be limited to the 5V since there is no power deliver (PD) interface, also no over current protection so if the device your charging isn't properly protected... Surprisingly, I had a hard time finding such a ready made solution.
      There are modules out there but the kind of hacky work around would be to use a "boost converter" from the 5 or 12 volt rail of the power supply to 24 volts then buy a "buck converter based USB PD module". Then you could have modern USB output, depending on the power available on each of the power supplies rails up to the rated watts worth. Some old PC power supplies aren't so great on the power factor side so that'd be something to check. I feel like this should be a video on my channel. hahaha. Maybe.

    For about 1000 CZK / ~ 45 USD this is not worth the money. There is a lot of alternatives either cheaper or offering more added value like Anker 65W (more fast charge protocols, performance and much smaller) or Samsung 45W (also more powerful, supporting more protocols and having similar size) Also the voltage is a bit low in 9V and 15V modes. It is so low on 9V, that my AlzaPower powerbank reaches only about 15,8W while with any other of my >= 20W USB-C power supplies I get easily to up to 18,9W.
    I got 4 of those adapters when we were clearing out old office. Now I use those adapters mostly for charging my powerbanks or powering wireless charger for my Samsung as they get into more efficient power range

    • @AllThingsOnePlace
      @AllThingsOnePlace  Год назад

      Yeah, this one is too much and too inefficient. Apple gave up on power supplies after the 5W brick was actually kind of okay for 10 years ago. Now, not so much, even the 140W brick from Apple isn't amazing.

  • @SalamHerbs-db5nt

    Mine only charges at about 20w and not 30. You can get a 30w usb c and a ppwer adapter for like $8. Wouldn't recommend this one. This one is also big and bulky for only 30w.

    • @AllThingsOnePlace
      @AllThingsOnePlace  3 месяца назад

      It has the locking replaceable plug end thing so yes, that adds some bulk. The device decides how much power to use not the adapter so it won't force 30W in if the device only wants 20 w.

    • @AllThingsOnePlace
      @AllThingsOnePlace  8 месяцев назад +2

      Yes, this is fine to use with that device. The phones do a good job managing battery health now so I wouldn't expect significant further degradation to a battery over time with this versus the recommended 20W apple charger.
