  • I ordered the the oil cooler back flush from fixur6.com for my 2005 ford f250 6.0 powerstroke diesel. In this video I unbox and show you how to install it on the truck. Then I build the back flush components to connect the water, and air to the truck. At the end I talk about doing a regular radiator flush and how to do it properly.

    I use a deep 4mm ball driver on a 3/8 socket in place of the t27. If you are afraid of breaking ball driver because of reduced shank size, loosen first with small key wrench. Works great.

    We have a 6.0 that we pull our fifth wheel. I bulletproofed it but still stuff to fix all the time. I am going to have to look in to this. Thank you for posting. We might need to get together and learn from each other.

    Hey I noticed fixur6 has the flush valve and coolant filter as a set at a discount. I have been vacillating about ordering the valve, but after your video I am comfortable about ordering and installing them both. 6.0 forever!

    Great video all very important maintenance item. All 6.0 owners need to know what their Deltas between engine oil temp and engine coolant temp. Get some gauges or a tuner. If they're not within 15 degrees you have a clogged oil cooler. That will lead to replacing injectors, turbo, high pressure oil pump, EGR.injectors and head studs. All the common problems the 6.0 has are related to oil coolers not working properly. Do not use Motorcraft gold it can clog your oil cooler, many reports of this coolant creating silicates under heat and pressure produced by a 6.0. Use a EC-1 rated coolant.

      James you are correct, using the Ford orange coolant is the main issue. 6.0 in heavy duty truck applications for international/Navistar don't have these problems. They will go 500k no problem with good maintenance

      Thanks so much for the advice. One good thing since I installed the mech fan clutch is that I have not seen temps over 208 degrees on either EOT or ECT.

      Yea I want to use Cat coolant it was just a bit out of my price range at the time. When I replace my coolant and do another flush I will be using CAT

    I saw one guy who said use the air pressure gently. I think 125 psi is risky in a few ways. I like your straight forward style.

    Amazon sells a flusher that comes with the 45 degree fitting with a 24" adapted hose that goes up to which you can easily attach a garden hose.

    The Motorcraft gold contains silicate that can clog up your oil cooler as well. From what I've read the elc coolant is the fix for that. Might be worth looking into? I am for sure

    I have 2 questions do you leave the unit on after you install it.
    2nd question is that thing that you twist down does it go all the way down after you install it or do you just adjust it anywhere does it matter for goes directly into the center or can I go to all the oil cooler.
    Don't know if that mixes with oil or not. Mine did not come with directions

    • @grumpysdiy
      @grumpysdiy  2 года назад +2

      Yes leave it after install. If I remember correctly twisting it all the way down seals it to do the flush. Then when your done you twist it all the way out and use a zip
      Tie to lock the cap in place.

      Thank you very much for your fast reply. I think I noticed you had to take apart your Turbo.

    • @grumpysdiy
      @grumpysdiy  4 года назад +3

      I got a good deal on the gold concentrated coolant from the ford parts guy. Since my truck never gets hot anymore because of the 7.3 fan clutch I have had zero problems. Not even towing does my ect ever go above 205, even on at 8% grade. Everything I’ve seen on coolant is the extreme temps that breaks down the coolant and causes the clogs.

  • @stevewalker9066

      Once I put it on the truck it did, but who knows how long the truck ran with out one. So maybe next time think before you think you know everything trying to be a smart ass on my video.
