❤ thank you! I'm going to use your instructions to water bath my small red beans and Cuban style black beans! 🎉 I'm so excited! I'm about to soak the beans over night and rinse and soak again like you recommended.
I just found your channel thank you for sharing your information and axing the big bad boogie man about water bath canning !! Your video is to the point without all the chitchat 😳
I canned pinto and garbanzo beans tonight, fingers crossed they all sealed. I heard the magical pop on most of them before I crawled into bed. So should I wash them and test their seal tomorrow, if so what's the best way?
@@skyybest1025 I had to rewatch the end to see what you were referring to. To clarify, I said it was a few months of beans for us. I canned about 24 jars of pintos that day. I do this once a year where I can all different types of beans. Black beans, kidney and pinto usually. But as long as they seal properly, they last for years. At any given moment, I have 1000 jars of canned foods in my pantry and only have so much room to devote to each item. My next house will have a much bigger pantry area. lol
@@TexasHomesteaders how long do you soak the beans each time you soak them. How much beans in each jar. I’ve never done this before but I want to. Thanks
Because of the density, I find it to be better to just make my refried beans with these when we decide to have refried beans for the night. Only takes a minute to mash them.
Thank you for sharing! just got into canning and I do not have a pressure canner but i did some research and i trust that the Amish have been doing this way for a longgg time. I’m going to try this tomorrow after work🥰🫶🏻
I followed your instructions and successfully canned 14 pints of pintos today. Thank you!
You're welcome
Do you do black beans the same way?
Yes. All dried beans. @@lauramilam5571

How long will they be good on the shelf?
Years as long as they stay sealed.
have you canned baked beans by water bath
No. We don't like baked beans. Sorry.
How long should quart jars of dried beans be processed?
Same time.
What's the shelve life for these?
Many years as long as they stay sealed. We try to use them up in 1 year.
@TexasHomesteaders thank you!
Can i use 1/2 a strip of bacon in each jar instead of salt pork?
Yes
How long are they shelf stable? Google wont tell me anything except it's against it 😅
Years and years but best used within 2 years in my experience.
@TexasHomesteaders when she said months at the end it had me thinking was it worth it? Cause I am hoping to can food for years to come

@@skyybest1025 I wipe with vinegar water and lift from the top to see if the lid stays on.
Thank you. Great. I am mote likely to use them if canned. How much inch space from top?
1 inch head space
Thanks so much! How long do you soak each time beforehand?
Overnight. 8ish hours
How long do you soak your pinto beans each time?
Overnight
I made cowboy beans with hamburger meat in them, can I water bath & if so how long
I would yes. 3 hours.
Hi I canned tomatoes my lids did not seal they come off withe me using my nails
If you feel they didn't seal, reprocess them. Wipe your rims well with water or vinegar.
Do you heat the water for the overnight soak or just do cold water? Please & thankyou
For overnight I just use room temp water. A fast soak is when you bring to a boil and then turn off and let soak. Either way is fine.
How long do you soak them each time? When I do them to eat, we soak overnight once…
I e also started using chicken broth instead of water for potatoes and green beans. Adds more flavor
I always soak my beans overnight.

I soak my beans overnight. I can't post the chart that I use here but I will post it on my community tab. @@shirleymckeithen9960
How long for quart jars?
Still 3 hours.
Is it possible to blend up the beans into a Mexican refried bean paste and then waterbath for 3 hrs or would that not work?
Because of the density, I find it to be better to just make my refried beans with these when we decide to have refried beans for the night. Only takes a minute to mash them.
Can you use any kind of salt?
Salt with iodine makes your canned goods cloudy but yes you can.
European, Water Bath BEANS = 2 hours = Water to bottom of the LID.
Correct
Canning Karen...LOL!!!
You only need to do 1 hour on pints and 1.5 hour on quarts. 3 hours is way too much!
We can agree to disagree. Mine come out perfect every time.
U dont need to soak them
You do in my kitchen. Reduces gastric upset.
