About the movie:
13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi (also known simply as 13 Hours) is a 2016 American action thriller film directed and produced by Michael Bay and written by Chuck Hogan, based on Mitchell Zuckoff's 2014 book of the same name. The film follows six members of Annex Security Team who fought to defend the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya after waves of attacks by militants on September 11, 2012. The film stars James Badge Dale, John Krasinski, Pablo Schreiber, Max Martini, David Denman and Dominic Fumusa with supporting roles by Toby Stephens, Alexia Barlier and David Costabile.
Filming began on April 27, 2015 in Malta and Morocco. Known colloquially as "the Benghazi movie", the film was released on January 15, 2016, by Paramount Pictures. Upon release, 13 Hours grossed $69 million worldwide against a production budget of $50 million (not including advertising and distribution), becoming one of Bay's lowest grossing films, and received mixed reviews from critics. While the film was praised for its acting performances, action sequences, and dark tone, the script was criticized for its historical liberties. Bay's direction also received a mixed response, with many criticizing his emphasis on over-the-top action, but some also noting it as one of his most mature and grounded films.
The film received an Oscar nomination for Best Sound Mixing at the 89th Academy Awards.

I love how Activision took inspiration from this movie for modern warfare 2019. The setting is almost identical to the second part of the embassy mission.
isn't this also based on real events ?
I just noticed that and was like “wait a minute…”. I remember how painful veteran mode was with those flares
@@TehPh1L yeah but the modern warfare game portrays both this movie and the real events pretty well
Sicario 2 is basically a modern warfare 2 2022 lmao
@@TehPh1Lyes. And the obama administration is to blame and Hillary clinton as well.
This movie truly showcases the confusion in a real battlezone. You don't really know who your enemies are.
No it doesn’t 😂
And the extreme government corruption
the enemy are who you invaded
.... :))
and being critically low on supplies.

We always wanted a movie that looks like a real one. But we also wanted a movie that entertain us and just be like we imagined. Sooo. This is what we got. Just a nice one excecuted perfectly.
If you want something like this with a similar plot minus the hollywood exaggeration, watch The Outpost.
Awesome movie! Great actors too. Unbelievable how stupid their commanders were for making that spot a base. Went against thousands of years of basic military doctrine and tactics
@@cw9766 yeah i was think the same tho. The most thing i questioned about was the bus with a massive bomb inside. What they think when they shooted that scene? Put that vulnerable bus in range view yards from target with massive explosive inside think they were cool? Idiot
Perfectly like that 40mm grenade launching a car 12ft in the air.
@@cw9766 I mean, the US made Afghanistan high priority so not that stupid compared to real life.
Say what you want to say About Michael Bay But He know How to do good Action sequences
Some directors make films that critics think we should want. Some make scenes that we actually want.
@@Delta6ICU Xactly 💯
Like sending a car in the 12ft in air from a little 40mm grenade 👌🥴
@Rick King 22 Please. As much as I don't like his work in the Superhero genre, the dude Directed 300. He just outworked Bay with that.
Mortars dont flip cars.
Probably one of the best gun fights I've seen in a movie. Not because of cinematography or anything like that, but the effects. The guns aren't ear-piercingly loud, it's no gorey or too violent, and it overall is a scene easier to watch than most movies. Bravo to the sound designers and CGI guys for the movie.
Heat …. Watch it
@@setnomA too loud Guns in heat. This one was perfect
@@henrik1743 no heats perfect.
I get why people don't like it - but guns are *very* loud. Everything in a battle is. I know a few people who have been in active combat zones, and they all say the same thing. You can't hear anything. If you want a movie that tells the thing as it happened, you'll barely be able to track whats going on, and that's the story of the battle.
*Lone survivor enters the chat*
True heroes indeed with an ending that is not ever mentioned today. Thankful for the friendly Warlord that rolled up in the end. Salute to the fallen American heroes who gave their lives in Benghazi 🇺🇸
They are not heroes. They are "occupiers". Down to America.
Ever soldier gave his life for politician.... They only know after they are long gone.... What are American soldiers doing in Benghazi? Is that an American soil? Oh... They came for oil or gold..... That's the Politician's needs.
El Chapo Guzman army 🪖 came
@@Exquisite.C They were CIA contractors (GRS) protecting an intel base. You should read more about this incident, because there was no military involved. The contractors tried to save Christopher Stevens, the US Ambassador to Libya.
Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State, Joe Biden as Vicepresident and Obama orchestrated a false flag that involved killing their OWN democrat ambassador and more than 50 Americans so they could set-up the perfect scenario for an invasion. The false flag failed because of these GRS contractors who were there to stop the attackers in a fight that was nothing short of a heroic display of will to protect everyone in that base (including some Libyan civilians who were taking refuge). *If anything, the contractors in Benghazi fought AGAINST politicians.*
RIP Christopher Stevens, USFS officer Sean Smith, CIA contractors and former Navy SEALs Tyrone S. Woods and Glen Doherty.
It’s really too bad a battalion from the 173rd wasn’t dropped into the middle of this. Thank you Clinton and Obama… for nothing.
If anyone played modern warfare there was a similar mission were you had to defend an embassy pretty cool.
Was looking for this comment
i was hoping someone would say this
I'm like wtf... I didn't watch this.. I played this...
I was thinking the same thing
Had those vibes 😂
This is my favorite scenes in the movie. I can't get this scene out of my head after finishing the movie.
Really was some of the best battle scenes in recent cinema.
then you haven't seen mosul best war film after jarhead
@@bingus_the_dongus i have actually, excellent film as well.
One of my favorite movies ever! I think it's so underrated.
Great to see Jim and Roy getting along
This movie really catches you, the action was impeccable
Saw this in a packed theater. Everyone was numb walking out - could have heard a pin drop. RIP to the 4 fallen. Vilerat knew it was coming the day before. Shame as it did not have to be this way.
Mercenaries/Contractor's get paid more for higher risk work, they could have turned down the job.
Same packed theatre. We all laughed at the fake American patriotism when trying to occupy another country. Cheers from Australia
@@coleforbes2059 what is it with people not knowing a fuckin thing? Read a book before commenting? I have a good one. It'll tell exactly why Americans were in Benghazi & the fact the Lybian government wanted us there to bring democracy to a the country. It was considered a failed state at the time so we came to bring democracy when all it was controlled by were gun & drug runners. Those said organizations were who attacked the compound & killed the ambassador in-country going to convince the rest of the country to let them help. Democracy indefinitely fucks up a warlords day.
@@coleforbes2059 they were in an embassy... it was no occupation.

The cinematographer deserve Oscar for his work
Last checkpoint in insurgency sandstorm belike. This is epic!
Producer: “How many tracers do you want?”
Michael Bay: *Yes*
It's actually about right 😅
As a section Sergeant I would have a mag of tracer ammo, a mag with mixed tracer and ball to highlight targets of priority for my mortar gunner. And of course our MGs had 1 tracer round to every 5 rounds on the belt to see the direction so everyone can follow.
5:09 Jim: Hello Roy.
5:14 Roy: Hello Jim long time no see.
4:03 that’s a great shot
This is the difference between guys with guns and professional soldiers
Well, it's the difference between people with average IQs over 100 who spend a significant portion of their time training and people with average IQs under 100 who don't spend much time training. Anyone reasonably intelligent can do it with some willpower and effort, being a professional just means you get paid and pushed into doing it. ;)
Um dos melhores filmes de guerra já produzido !!!
Its so great to see Jim and Roy making up
While our people were fighting for their lives, our government was a sleep at the wheel.
Hillary at her best. If you ignore it, it will go away.
Hillary Clinton knew exactly what was going on. She was the cause and the reason for the cover up
Hillary wasn't asleep, she just didn't care. Too busy scheming her presidential aspirations
all this blood is on the hands of Hillary & Obama plus sleepy joe. sleepy joe, wasn't even in the information loop.
The "government" was not "asleep at the wheel"... The Obama Administration is the same "government" who single-handedly found and killed Osama bin Laden. They were wide awake for 8 years. Republicans used the tragedy of Benghazi as a political football. The republican lie that they held up the military response to the attack is flat out false. Administration officials, according to Congressional Republicans placed no limitations on the military’s immediate reaction to the attack. In fact, then-Joint Chiefs Chairman Martin Dempsey told a congressional committee that “the President instructed us to use all available assets to respond to the attacks to ensure the safety of US personnel in Libya.” And the evidence is very clear that the military, in fact, committed every immediately available asset to Benghazi.
One of the best and intensive real based war movie I ever seen
1:24 that wouldn't happen, the rpg needs to travel some distance before it arms itself, it's a built in safety system.
maybe you are right, but im not that sure. The rpg warheads have a pin that has to be removed just before shooting it, otherwise it can explode if you fall pointing the warhead towards the ground as some videos of syria have revealed lol
They also have an internal fuse that automatically goes off after traveling a certain distance. This was used by Somalians during Mogadishu to shoot at helicopters.
It's a poor man's airburst explosive.
But this is michael bay
ohh
What? No. PG-7V's WILL explode if the tip is hit hard enough (provided the safety cap is removed), no matter the distance.
If anything, it should've exploded WAY sooner.
Isaiah Miller is right, so maybe you're confusing the functions a bit.
"They're walking slowly out of cover towards us sir!!!"
"Perfect."
And to think our government left these soldiers to defend themselves. That's unacceptable in my opinion and several should be charged and put in prison. God bless our Armed Forces.
These were not soldiers. They were mercenaries and were absolutely in the wrong morally.
lock her up
They got what they deserved. Why the heck would US and her allies invade a sovereign nation and kills its leader? And you expect it's residents to sit back home and accept it? Shame on you.
@@Austin-wy4xe these were mercenaries contracted with protecting American assets, that's wrong morally?

Best action movie since Saving Private Ryan, and by far the best Modern Warfare movie in general.
There are really good Modern Warfare movies, like The Outpost and Sandcastle.
@@Dr.KarlowTheOctoling outpost is really good and very accurate to what actually happened
Black hawk down is definitely better than this. I mean 13 hours is a good film but not as good as black hawk down.
we want to see much more movies of this type of action shooting war tactics of the military with their weapons approaches showing those beautiful weapons
i knew i recognized this when playing Modern Warfare 2019's campaign
I had DirecTV, with ALL the premium channels in 2016-17, when this film came out, as well as should have been shown on the premium channels. It wasn't. I found the DVD in a bin at wallmart, at the end of 2017, then not long after that it was on Amazon prime. Sicario was very similar. Gee whiz, I just could not figure out why those "premium" channels didn't air these great films back then.....................
I ordered a copy from BestBuy, couldn't find it anywhere else
this looks exactly like one of the missions in cod moder warfare 2019
I thought I was the only one that noticed
The mission from COD 2019 was literally inspired by/based off of what happened in Benghazi
Breaks my heart every time I watch this movie.
"they thought they were walking into another temporary embassy"
People talk shit about Bay but he has put some of the best action and chase scenes on film. Take the Car Park/Intersection/Causeway chase sequence from Bad Boys 2. That’s one of the best sequences to be put on film. You can’t deny that. Transformers 1 and Dark of the Moon were great too. Saw him film some scenes for the Battle of Chicago cuz my friend was doing security for the set. I can tell you for a fact he isn’t on some set with green screen. He’s actually out there blowing shit up lol.
The real movie with less of dramatization, rest easy soldiers
I’m no vet so take this with a grain of salt but there are literally things exploding that should not be exploding bc I saw nothing in that building that would’ve caused it to explode in the way portrayed. Love it! 😂😂
Our boys were let down that day....
Best Movie !
The Sound mixing is insane...
Its like tickling your ears
Comfort sound for sleep
It must be nice to be a politician and not have any of the laws or your actions be held against you.
One of my favorite movies ever
1:07 Well actually it was Boon who shot first
You know you're not coming back the same after a war like this
This has to be what the embassy mission in COD MW 2019 was based off. Ever since I had played that mission it reminds me of this scene here.

Very Good Movie This was True Story That Happen in Real Life
This reminds me of a call of duty mission

considering the fact that an attacker was able to call the base , probably means quite a few "allies" were involved in the attack.
So those guys getting shot in the field were 17 Feb? Allies?
this movie so nice....
reminds me of that modern warfare (2019) mission at the US ambassador
Me and the boys playing survival mode
My respect to this brave men on another note it shows how this is government don't care about their people

The Mortar is a M1 81mm Mortar. It is used to attack the compound in the final wave of the attack. Should have a max range about 3000 mts.
The M1 is a United States 81 millimeter caliber mortar. It was used during the World War II well into the 1950s when it was replaced by the lighter and longer ranged M29 Mortar. It was based on the French Brandt mortar.
If I right m252 81mm mortar has a max range of 5,500m so the mortar system in the movie is not US made and can have similar range
If you play modern warfare they do same exact thing in that and it’s beautiful
Thank your local politician for doing absolutely nothing during that horrific time.
If I was there. I would of helped those men on the roof.
