It stars Scott Eastwood, Caleb Landry Jones, Orlando Bloom, Jack Kesy, Cory Hardrict, Milo Gibson, Jacob Scipio, Will Attenborough and Taylor John Smith. The film was scheduled to premiere at the 2020 South by Southwest Film Festival, but the festival was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This movie was perfect, it was realstic, gritty and it really made you hurt when one of them would get killed or end up getting mentally scarred, cause they actually gave the characters backstories and emotions, just like in 13 hours.
That’s because 13 hours and outpost are both real events that happened and in this movie they got some of the actual members of this even to play there character
This is based on the attack on COP Keating where hundreds of Taliban swarmed the outpost also known as the Battle of Kamdesh
its not at all realistic, irl, it takes like 20 bullets to down one man, and guns dont sound as bang bang, but more like a pathetic pew pew in the open, and also, there isn't any flash when you fire a gun, there's just some little dust or something moving from it, thats it, and the grenades i see here blowing up, MAYBE make an explosion 1/10th of what we see here, so yeahhhh, nooo
@@nightfalls5462 there is a slight flash when firing out of the muzzle, plus it takes only around 3-5 shots to completely down someone in the body.
@poop pee a good movie in the sense it shows some stuff ppl no fuk all about while still being a Hollywood action movie. Not everything is trying to be 100% accurate or perfect
2:25 love how the grenade just make a cloud of smoke instead of a giant fireball, theres also some shrapnel flying around
@SF Giants Highlights Indeed. This movie was pretty good. Some of the effects were lacking, probably due to budget, but overall quite a realistic representation of combat
But in movie rule grenade explosion should look like a nuke test explosion! This movie is unrealistic 😂
To be fair it's been a while since I saw a grenade fireball in a movie or show.
@@nitrokid a lot of movies actually make hand grenades seem like close quarters weapons when they are very much not
That's always been a huge gripe I've had with war films, or for that matter action films in general, the way grenades explode in fireballs. That said, by far my biggest is the lack of reloading. Im plenty willing to give it some leeway, you know instead of 30 rounds being fired - maybe little over 40 or somethin. But in most films they literally never reload despite having laid down a constant fully-auto barrage, or at best, reloading after a good 60 to 70 rounds instead of the thirty rond capacity of most standard assault-rifles/carbines. Even one of the top ten, or even top five shootout/firefight scenes in film history, the one at the end of "Heat," despite constant full-auto there ae literally a total of 4 reloads total for both the cops and the robbers. You only see Robert reload 2 and Val only once. That said, over the past decade this as improved by leaps and bounds when compared to early 2000's, (let alone 90's and older), action movies/tv-shows in this regard. Which is why whenever i see a modern movie or show where characters never reload their firearm, it just complete kills the immersion for me. This film thankfully is one of the movies out there where they do a great job limiting the round count and having a decent amount of reloads.
Just so people know the film tried to follow the actual event that happend, they had survivors with them to make it as realistic as possible, it was probably a lot worse than depicted and less flashy but more chaotic. Overall great film and great exposure to the masses of those tragic event due to a failure of command from the top and idiots with shiny rockers
Didn’t they say 50 men was on that base and 300 taliban fighters crazy how they just whipped them out
It was Rodriguez who was willing to go in the movie he plays himself
Much worse in reality. I just read a comment on a SPR review and a WW2 vet. said it wasn't even close to as bad as it was.
The only piece of communications equipment that stayed working during the firefight was the SNAP Satellite system, which I worked on. And no, I did not go to this particular base, as I was in RC East, and this battle was the northern end of RC East in AFG. With the SNAP System, they were able to call in air support and kill hundreds of Taliban, and prevent the Combat Outpost from being over run. I am proud to say that two were awarded the US Medal of Honor: for Staff Sergeant Clinton Romesha and Specialist Ty Carter. COB Keating.

Whoever set up the Outpost surrounded by valley like this must have never heard about Dien Bien Phu and Khe Sanh...
or even " common sense"
It was known to be in a bad location and considered a deathtrap. Relocating was supposed to happen but the military said that the resources to do so were tied up with the defense of a nearby town that Afganistan considered a priority and the search for Bowe Bergdahl.
@@josephramponi4431 could be like that. But, just for the sake of skepticism, I think those reasonings could also been made to cover up the CO overconfidence that led to the set up of the base in the said valley...
Yup
To sum up: the higher ups fucked it up, like proper fucked it up.
The whole battle was an absolute shitshow, the US Military got their asses whooped.
Then made an official report that cleared the higher ups, awarded the poor fuckers who died there with some posthumous medals & financed this little propaganda movie to boost morale back home.

@@rhett1029, no shit. The movie points this to being a real story multiple times. And I think I watched the news story when I was a little kid.
The CO who chose that outpost surrounded by high grounds was probably promoted later on by his political master.
...ya know..!
Actually no this was the last outpost that’s considered strategic ineffective, later in the war they’ve never build an outpost like this again due to this battle and battle of Wanat in 08.
I am speculating over-confidence. At COP Keating, the had artillery support from a based not too far away. They did not count on it being taken out of the fight. I suspect they thought they could get gunships in more quickly and they would be more effective.
Some things never change. Since the Brits inn 1842.....a small outpost of 30 -100 guys surrounded and outnumbered 3-1. Fighting for a small piece of real estate.

вам принесёт большое облегчение, когда США перестанет вторгаться в другие страны как Третий Рейх.
The movie is based off the book "The Outpost" written by Jake Tapper. An outstanding read. He deep dives the first plans and development for this post. Top brass was warned: "But sir...that is a really awful place for a base." "Sir, this is a really bad idea. A. REALLY. BAD. IDEA. Anyone we drop off there is going to die."
Six pages into the book, you are already pissed off by the absolute incompetence of military strategist who planned it. Guess I need to get the movie and get pissed off all over again.
"Greatest military in the world" showing that arrogance can over come the best technology every time.
I love the 3:44 where he looks at his rifle like he thought "what the fuck, what doomsday ammo do I have there?".
Yeah
a bit reminiscent of Tom Hanks firing his 1911 at the Tiger in Saving Private Ryan and having it explode after a few rounds.
lol doomsday ammo
Rpg is so realistic in this film unlike in other war movies where u can see the rocket in a dramatic way lol
RPG. Is loong ang big
They're hollywood films, what do you expect.
And love 💕
Love 🥰 you. love 💕💗you 💖 somuch
This is based of real life
On every modern war film I must always listen someone crying hysterically: “RPG!”
True but in combat situations it’s really smart to yell out there’s an incoming explosion. Communication is key.
Soldiers are trained to duck and cover as well as spread out if the enemy is using explosives.
@@Crossed-Bones Perhaps they would just say incoming? "Incoming explosion" seems a bit too long.
@@colleen9026 I was saying yelling “rpg” is short for there’s an incoming explosion
At least they didn’t play “Fortunate Son” when the helicopters flew in.
We yelled that in Somalia too. You also yell "FRAG OUT!" when throwing a grenade so EVERYONE within earshot KNOWS you just put out an explosive of your own. An "incoming FRAG grenade" is noted by simply yelling "GRENADE" so everyone knows the difference between an "outgoing" and "incoming" explosive.
One of the better recent war movies. Good script, good actors, good job overall.

i served was a missile technician on trident submarines during first gulf war and yes i risked my life. but wasn;t on the ground like these guys much respect. patriots!
Full-length running, ignoring cover etc. Oh those enemies...
Well, it is said that many Taliban soldiers don't join willingly. Many were teachers, farmers, and other civilian roles before the conflict. So yes, some are more effective than others.
If someone is not a warfighter, it's hard to make them into an efficient soldier. But some are.
Non experience tend to take cover too much but if forced to advance would likely lost in the flow of battle/adrenaline and resort to blindly charge and shoot without "feel the environment". Trained are more likely to be less adrenaline driven and more tactical, so they are less likely to die this way. That why we got "regular" and "meat shield".
@@checkinncmugget9251 It is especially hard when they have little to no tactical training at all.
If you never been in this kind of firefight, no movie, video game, vr game can prepare you for the chaos this is. It's hard to watch this even now and I was in the Army 30 years ago. One thing is for sure, Hollywood has become better at showing what it's like

What an obscure rare talent this editor has really emotive mix of movie and sound.
Just watched this yesterday. What a great movie. The best word I can use to describe it is "harrowing." Constant fear for the guys on screen.
I knew from reading about it to Romesha and Carter both survived and receieved the Medal of Honour. Everyone else was a total wild card.
Caleb Landry Jones' portrayal of SSgt Ty Carter was particularly heartwrenching. Especially his final scene with the Army therapist. This movie did a stellar job showing the causes and effects of warfare PTSD.
I plan on watching it again soon, to try and appreciate the smaller details I would have missed on first watch.
9/10. Only complaint is some of the CG and very small moments where the dialogue felt a bit clunky/scripted. Otherwise, great modern WoT war film.
