When you think “surely they can’t think up of a more complex routine” then they came up with this, a quite brilliant routine. If there was a vote for “Best marching band in college football” Texas A&M gets my vote.
My high school band marched military style so I love the traditional marching and music. Of that military style, no doubt A&M is tops in what they do. Best marching band? I'd be tempted to go with two marching bands you've never heard of, RCC Riverside Community College which is a training ground for new Blue Devils ideas. The other would be North Texas University, which has a fantastic music program. Nobody in the country beats their drumline which is virtually the same battery as the Santa Clara Vanguard.
While some naysayers may point out that a lot of this is "follow the leader" and that only the first in each file needs to know what they're doing, this style of marching is absolutely unforgiving of error. If someone in the FTAB makes a mistake, 50,000 people will know it immediately. That isn't the case with most marching bands. It adds a different level of pressure.
@@mtnairpilot It still is really impressive. I've been on the opposing band side. We all say ours was harder, But it is like: "I had to learn all these positions and whatnot, and then you follow. meh, it's been 20 years, let me bitch about song selection =p T+M is just going to get applause and our audience doesn't get our technicals. (I'm jeaolous a bit at least =p)
I just stumbled onto this, thankfully. Tomorrow my wonderful husband who was a veteran of WWII would have turned 100 years young. Shortly after his return from the war he enrolled at Texas A&M. He graduated as a member of the Class of 1950 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a very proud Aggie and taught me the love of A&M and the fighting band. He was 1LTC ENOCH T. DARBY Gig 'EM Aggies!
@@bradcallahan1194yes, you have to be in the Corps of Cadets, which is an ROTC program, however you don’t have to be committed to be commissioned into the armed forces upon graduation.
Many people don't know what a Sousaphone is or identify it with that wrap around horn that people carry while marching. So, it is genetically called a tuba. The coolest tuba players EVER march in the Aggie Band.
Freaking a work of art. Whomever designs these marching flows and maneuvers is genius. Amazing!!! My son is in JROTC. He is a fantastic driller and marching cadet. He will fall out of his chair when he sees this!! Nice work A&M!!!
Its one thing for a band's musical director to have a vision. But to implement that vision and teach it to 400 musicians, paying attention to the myriad details while never losing the big picture is mind-boggling.
ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!! I could watch this a million times! I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! SIMPLY AMAZING! AND, NOT A SINGLE COLLISION, EITHER!!!! WHAT IMMACULATE PRECISION! IT'S FLAWLESS (AND MIND BLOWING, TOO)!!!!! WHAT A SPIRIT OF EXCELLENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 100%! CONGRATULATIONS!
Does anyone know the music they play? the marching can be so mesmerizing I don't really hear it. UT Austin class of '69 and a huge fan of the Aggie band.
This should be halftime for the Super Bowl. Ohio State isn't shabby either. This type of marching needs to be so precise. So much better than the last few SB halftimes.
This makes me miss my dad, Kyle Field, and College Station so so much! Dad played a coronet in the Aggie band, he was class of '54.Hope he can hear this from heaven!
I never get tired of watching them perform. I played both tenor and base drum in my high school marching band in the mid 1970s in Los Angeles. It was a lot of fun. I loved it.😁❤🎼🥁
Holy crap! Can’t get anymore perfect than that!!! Precise straight lines are amazingly hard to do. I give props to the ones carrying the heavy instruments and drums. The routine was eye catching to say the least, BRAVO AGGIES ❤
Popped up on my u-tube... THIS was great to watch! It is not easy to play a musical instrument & by a one note you've got to make so many steps after a yard line on the field a left or right or go back and so on and so on. I remember being in the marching band at the school I was going and I loved the hard work we put in to it. The teacher was Mr. Decker. Yelling "Mark time- Mark time!" Fabulous teacher!!!!
I know my Grandfather is watching from heaven, he was a Singing Cadet Class of ‘62 & ‘66 he passed this past June, so Jimbo has to win it all for the Class of ‘66 and my daughter who will be Class of 2028 !!! Gig’Em
This is one of the best shows I have seen they were beyond words. Great job. I know the extra time you have spent getting this ready. My granddaughter is in a high school band . So I know it takes a lot to get it right. Be proud you were great. And thank you for letting us see it!!’nnn
They make their performance look so easy - the mark of the best performers. Thanks to all members, leader, anyone else involved. Just beautiful! How many band members? Couldn’t even try to count. As always, Go Aggies! Texas Aggies, of course.
Wow, wow, wow. So astounding. It's hard to believe those are people counting their steps in complicated patterns while playing music! I truly love marching bands. Kudos to this incredible performance! I could watch this over and over.
Well done, Aggie band that was such an amazing halftime. Wow, I am just so thoroughly enjoyed watching that. Go Texas Aggies. My older son graduated in 2014 from A&M.
On an icy cold New Years morning in downtown Dallas over 50 yrs ago my love for music and this band began as they marched by playing the fight song , I still can feel the bass drums 😊
I have no clue how they figure out how to do the maneuvers, but they are amazing. I watched at normal speed and then high speed, both blew me away. Thanks for all the hard work and effort, so enjoyable to watch.
Invictus has to be one of my favorites by far! Now I just gotta wait for them to do Joyce's someday! And the "Block-Buster" in the drill was absolutely perfect for the first strain. King never disappoints! Only mistake I saw was one lady who I believe turned into the wrong section of the block in the block-buster, and then miss a left turn which I believe she shouldn't have been taking if in the right, but she had a hasty recovery and did a great job of making it look purposeful! The Aggies never disappoint!
RUclips has recently introduced me to marching bands. Now I can't stop watching them. I am blown away by what I'm watching, especially when I consider the amount of work involved to present the finished product. Coming up with the choreography, executing it, the amount of rehearsals required..... I think this band should get themselves along to The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
So awesome!! My brother, sister in law and a cousin are aggies. I was in band through high school but never seen what we looked like like this. Lot of work too, remembering your steps and the song you're playing. Miss it.
Thank you very much for sharing this enchanting band. So those who can not attend personaly, at least this way can see the sinery of one part of the Great TEXAS. and their capabilities.
I know my late band director was watching from on high and smiling!! Our high school band was a “military style” band, which prided itself on precision, straight lines & perfect formations. I can certainly appreciate the hard work, dedication and creativity it took to produce this show!!! What a FANTASTIC BAND PERFORMANCE!!!
So interesting! My name director also died and was extremely precise in everything he did. Our band went to, and won, many competitions. Early morning practices, Friday night games to perfect routines, and a desire to be the best ❤

Congratulations...you must be proud of that grandson of yours. 👍
YES! And our grandson is right out there marching wih his tuba!!!!!!!! Gig 'EM Aggies!
Is it true that you have to be in the ROTC/ military program to March with them? My son is a 10th graders in his HS drumline and loves this band!
@@bradcallahan1194yes, you have to be in the Corps of Cadets, which is an ROTC program, however you don’t have to be committed to be commissioned into the armed forces upon graduation.
Just for the record, he is playing a sousaphone aka as a marching tuba.
Also just for the record, it's mostly called a "bass" , he says, and neither of the above terms . Most people recognize "tuba", though.
Many people don't know what a Sousaphone is or identify it with that wrap around horn that people carry while marching. So, it is genetically called a tuba. The coolest tuba players EVER march in the Aggie Band.
Precision marching at its FINEST.
I vote Aggie band for Super Bowl Halftime Show! Please!
Lifetime Longhorn here: Always love watching the Fightin' Aggie Band!
Texas Ex of 1979, I concur.
Next year in 2024 will be 50 years since I graduated from A&M. Watching the band never gets old and they never cease to amaze.
You cant out band the Aggies
Congrats. You graduated from a great college. And Aggies are boss
My Dad marched in that band in 1932-1936.

Whoever (nominative case). And I too was thinking same thing - so clever (put a big smile on my face just watching it)!
I have always been a Longhorn at heart, but I know greatness when I see it see it. The Aggie Band is fabulous!
Whether a good season or bad season, halftime is ALWAYS won by the Aggies.
WELL SAID!!! And I am not even an A&M grad. You don’t have to be to appreciate this level of awesomeness!!
Great line! 😂
Agree!!❤
Texas got the better halftime performance we make a hook em in the field, a Bevo, and more 🤘🤘🤘
What a performance. Your band is definitely the best in all the SEC. I am proud University of Kentucky grad.
Freaking amazing! Gives me chills every time.
I am amazed at the complexity of this performance, especially for the FIRST game of the year. KP ‘83
Agree! The individual execution is well beyond most marching bands first show of the year.
You should see it in person. Always gives me the chills it’s so great!

I’m an Oklahoma Sooners fan, but I gotta tell you, I saw them perform the last time they visited Norman, And that was down right Cool.
As an old band kid, I love watching this band.

Grandson at A&M in second year. So proud of him and this great band! His mom and dad are AGGIE graduates too!💜💜💜
I am a University of Houston graduate but my husband and oldest son are Aggie Alums! Gig ‘Em 👍🏼👍🏼
We’ve won not only the halftime, but the game too!
THE NUMBER ONE COLLEGE BAND AT HALF-TIME, OR ANY TIME, PERIOD. GIG'EM..!!!
In high school during halftime of my football games I would sneak out and watch our marching band... they were awesome 👌
This should be halftime for the Super Bowl. Ohio State isn't shabby either. This type of marching needs to be so precise. So much better than the last few SB halftimes.
I had the same thought!
Ohio state vs. Tx. A&M.
Thanks for recording and posting, Bbew. Wow, 40 basses marching the first drill! That might be some kind of FTAB record.
