  • Jane found an old photo in her file of a trip to Costa Rica which became the inspiration for this tutorial. Sharing a lot of information and painting tips throughout the video, she demos how she creates foliage, water, mountains and sky and how she mixes her colors to create them. Always starting with a canvas painted in orange or red, she first sketches out her landscape and then does negative painting in which the sky and water are painted last. Follow along and have fun. At her website, JaneSlivkaGallery.com, full classes are offered for only $25. You will also see a list of her favorite paint colors and brushes that she likes to use as well as live, upcoming workshops.

    It’s hard to paint loose. I seem to get tighter as I paint. I don’t stop when I should either. Following you is helping. Thanks so much. Paint is about all I can do anymore and just a little at a time. Not to be morbid but I have a terminal disease. This keeps Mr from being depressed.😊🍀

    I love your work I truly do . I beg you, though, show us the picture that’s inspiration. I know it’s extremely difficult to do all this for us to see I just need to see what inspired you to put this tree here this mountain here. Just need to see what inspired you then put it aside, but I’m trying to look at it to say, why did she put that there? I wish I could see what she’s looking at. I know you’ve explained how it’s not very important to see the picture but for me it is.

    Love it Jane, so pretty. I've started a farm painting for my daughter with a red barn and tractor and at first I didn't know where to begin. I've begun to put in the barn with all hookers green but for the lighter side I'm confused as what to do, a lighter shade of green adding some yellow? In a nut shell I guess what I'm trying to say is blocking in confuses me, lol. I didn't mean this to be a novel.

    • @freedomofacrylicswithartis5133
      @freedomofacrylicswithartis5133  9 месяцев назад +1

      I do all my laying out of the painting in hookers green, and after it dries, I start adding my colors.To add the lighter shade of greens, you can addto your brush the cad yellow light or medium and maybe some titanium white to hookers green.

    Your paintings are absolutely wonderful, but please please do something about the videos. I know you keep saying you're working on it, but the other Jane is still zooming in and out of the painting constantly. I actually laughed when she asked you if your horizon was in the middle? Yes, we can't tell either because we cannot see the entire canvas. Maybe use a tripod for the camera and just leave it?? Maybe get a microphone hooked up on your shirt so we can also hear you more than the camera lady? By the way - are the classes you offer on your website of the same quality?

      This will be the last video with the multiple zooms. It has been a learning curve for us. The next filming will be with the camera stationary. I appreciate your feedback. And no, the classes at the website are done with the camera stationary with some zooming.

    I like your style but don’t follow you bc you never show how you finish your paintings so you leave watchers hanging every single time. You’re the only RUclips artist that does this. I feel cheated. Also I always worry about underbinding bc you use enough water w the red to make it transparent and when you paint you have so many drips. Your camerawoman seems to be very honest which is helpful bc I’m not always sure you are.
