The name came from some black Marines in a bar they were performing in. One of them was so impressed he yelled "That's RIGHTEOUS brothers!" And I guess these two unrelated guys decided that was the best name ever. So that's what they called themselves after that.

This time period was amazing for talent. These performers did the songs live with very little in the way, just the music and the amazing voices. No dancers running all over the place or flashy stuff, just pure beautiful music. I'm glad to see the new generation discovering such talent from the past.

This was the Second Song written for them by Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil after You've Lost That Loving Feeling. The Show they are on is called Hullabaloo where each week a Different Person Hosts. It was also the First Song they did after leaving Phil Spector.
It was no coincidence that during the peak of their popularity, they were being produced by the genius Phil Spector before he lost his mind. They had the talent, he had the ear and the "wall of sound". My favorite number of theirs is "Just Once in my Life". Check it out. Also, check out Spector's first effort with the wall of sound concept, from a little over 3 years before the Medley and Hatfield hit it big. Gene Pitney's "Every Breath I Take."

That's what makes this almost amazing because you would think that they really were brothers and it's been a lot of time you know perfecting their sound but in reality they are two studio singers that were put together by a studio who thought that they could really be something special singing together and as you and I both know that worked out to be quite good for the studio or they are really a fantastic duo.

Yes, I love them too! For ages I thought they were a Black group, too, just from hearing them on the radio. However, music has no colour, nor does soul.
One thing to keep in mind - I've heard others express wonder at the performances in other 'react' videos - is that most of these videos use the studio soundtracks with the singers lip-synching. That's why their performances look effortless and perfect. Not to take anything away from these amazing songs. The studio musicians had a lot to do with the polished sound and production values and there were many unbelievably talented (and anonymous) musicians and backup singers contributing to the song's success.

I tell you, being a woman and listening to these guys sing with all their heart and soul singing in a way that reflects such passion makes you fall in love with these guys. I fall in love with them every time I hear their music; nothing can top their soulful and passionate sound. When you hear them sing, you can feel how deep the passion is in their spirit; it just makes you melt to hear a man having that much love for a woman and express it so flawlessly in song. When I tell you I’m in love with these guys, I’m in love with these guys! I’ve never met any man in my life that can express love in the manner these guys put into a song. I hope the love for the woman they’re singing to in these lyrics reflects the actual love in their lives; and if those women didn’t appreciate these brothers, then they didn’t know what they truly have or had in their possession. Music today is crap compared to the music sung in the fifties, sixties, seventies, eighties, and mid-nineties. Those artists knew love and how to express love. All you hear today in music is money, sex, bitches, ho’s, boss, materialistic bs, etc, that’s not music, and especially rap; and women today lying to themselves by saying they don’t need a man. Everybody needs somebody that’s one of the reasons why God created man, and the woman for the man; not the man for the woman...recognize. Very few artists today know how to express love in song, that’s rare. Thank God for blessing us with the essence of love and the talent from these guys by showing in song what true love is in the spirit. Bobby Hatfield is no longer with us, and Bill Medley just recently turned 80 years young; and they’re style of music will always take us to a place that fills our heart and soul with the love and passion deeply expressed in song! I saw them live in Vegas, and this just brought back so many memories. Can’t think of anyone better, and I was blessed to see a lot of live performances there. They just stood there and sang. Yes, I love them too! For ages I thought they were a Black group, too, just from hearing them on the radio. However, music has no colour, nor does soul.

One thing to keep in mind - I've heard others express wonder at the performances in other 'react' videos - is that most of these videos use the studio soundtracks with the singers lip-synching. That's why their performances look effortless and perfect. Not to take anything away from these amazing songs. The studio musicians had a lot to do with the polished sound and production values and there were many unbelievably talented (and anonymous) musicians and backup singers contributing to the song's success.

I am in a living hell with today's music. I grew up with the Righteous Brothers, Marvin Gaye, Elvis, Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, the Doors, The Four Tops, the Temptations and so on and so on. A list of hall of fame artists that were truly talented. And now, the best the radio has to offer is Taylor Swift? WTF????!!!!

Okay, The tall guy is Bill Medley. the other is Bobby Hatfield. They are not related which makes it more amazing that in this huge world they would be brought together in such anawesome duo. Bill is still touring and Bobby has passed.

1:07. I just can't get used to how deep this man's voice is. I just finished listening to another song with him, and I came here and still got shocked! So soulful and rich and powerful! Amazing.
I tell you, being a woman and listening to these guys sing with all their heart and soul singing in a way that reflects such passion makes you fall in love with these guys.
I fall in love with them every time I hear their music; nothing can top their soulful and passionate sound.
When you hear them sing, you can feel how deep the passion is in their spirit; it just makes you melt to hear a man having that much love for a woman and express it so flawlessly in song.

I hope the love for the woman they’re singing to in these lyrics reflects the actual love in their lives; and if those women didn’t appreciate these brothers, then they didn’t know what they truly have or had in their possession.
Music today is crap compared to the music sung in the fifties, sixties, seventies, eighties, and mid-nineties. Those artists knew love and how to express love.
All you hear today in music is money, sex, bitches, ho’s, boss, materialistic bs, etc, that’s not music, and especially rap; and women today lying to themselves by saying they don’t need a man.
Everybody needs somebody that’s one of the reasons why God created man, and the woman for the man; not the man for the woman...recognize.
Very few artists today know how to express love in song, that’s rare.
Thank God for blessing us with the essence of love and the talent from these guys by showing in song what true love is in the spirit.
Bobby Hatfield is no longer with us, and Bill Medley just recently turned 80 years young; and they’re style of music will always take us to a place that fills our heart and soul with the love and passion deeply expressed in song!

I saw them live in Vegas, and this just brought back so many memories. Can’t think of anyone better, and I was blessed to see a lot of live performances there. They just stood there and sang. No messing around, just sang. Heavenly. 😢🤯. I’m so happy to see you young guys knowing what’s good is timeless! Keep it alive, and pass it on. Seeing you and them, makes me cry.

I love it that a lot of young reactors like you have discovered and appreciate The Righteous Brothers. I just heard a song by them that I had forgotten about called "Ebb Tide". It was another one, like Unchained Melody, that Bobby Hatfield sang solo. I haven't seen anyone else react to it yet.
Bill Medley produced unchained melody and played the piano.Said if he thought it was going to be a hit he would have hired a piano player.
