Yep, Bron might be the greatest loser of all time😀..To be honest though, Jordan is a part of the media driven marketing of the NBA. Not taking anything away from what he and the Bulls did. David Stern, who didn't soot one shot or get one rebound is the singular most valuable asset the league has ever seen. He helped to create the MJ frenzy with his brilliant marketing strategies. There are 9 players who have won more rings than Jordan but will never be considered important to the game. Karriem, the NBA's all time leading scorer for 37 years, who also won 6 rings is very seldom if even in the GOAT conversation. So it seems winning takes on a different value and importance when we talk about MJ unlike anyone else to ever play the game.

@@AfrikanLifestyleThere have been plenty of great players in the league before Jordan.
But Jordans charisma and electricity he brought to the court was captivating. He had Bird and Magic calling him that best player in the league his rookie season. He made NBA All-Stars look like kids. Isiah used to say, "Jordan treats us like we are in high school".
Trust me kid, the level of superstar your dealing with will dictate marketability.
Did you watch "AIR"?...Nike dumped their entire budget on an unproven rookie, AND gave him a guaranteed percentage of profit on every shoe that branded his name and moniker. In that time, NO ONE did that. But, they saw what most people saw. A future legend who could change the game.

More championships, fewer losses in the Finals, 19 consecutive playoff appearances (every year of his career) and 50+ wins during each of those regular seasons (save for the shortened lockout 1998-1999 season) to boot! Duncan was way more consistent than Lebron in his playing on the court; he made his teammates better; stayed with one team all the way through and never once thought about leaving the Spurs for "greater glory"; had better relationships with his coaches. The Big Fundamental will always be golden! He almost always gets skipped over when it comes to discussing Kobe or Lebron as being the G.O.A.T. after Jordan retired the second time.

Kobe Bryant deserves much more recognition than he is getting, and Kareem, Tim Duncan, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson, Bill Russell, Shaquille, Hakeem and Stephen Curry, and more. Skap Attack thank you for being the most honest man on the internet. People might not know some players that didn't get recognition should be, I'm electing Kevin McChale, playing with a broken ankle for real. They think those guys weren't contributing to the game. @@borisfrlicI would argue that unlike Lebron, Jokic actually makes his teammates play better.
In Lebron's case, it's more about benefitting each other than making his teammates better. For example, if he has a 3 point shooting teammate. Either a teammate receives a better quality 3 point shot due to Lebron's gravity, or Lebron won't be double teamed because of a threat of a kickout, making Lebron's drives easier.
Jokic can do that, and more. Jokic's teammates actively try to improve their off-ball movement because when Jokic has the ball, they know a pass will come when Jokic thinks they are open.

The funny thing is finals appearances dont mean much in a playoff system. Its not designed to have the 2 best teams in the finals, it just helps find the best team. If he played in the west he would have been eliminated before the finals, and in many cases not by the eventual champions. So in reality he has 4 rings from a 20 year career while having good enough teams that could have won at least 6-7, but he wasnt great enough to beat the spurs and mavs with the heat. And he couldn't beat the 17 warriors.

No other team could have beaten the 2017 Warriors in the playoffs. When they added Kevin Durant in the postseason, the Warriors were really unstoppable. They added Kevin Durant into a 73-9 team. The Warriors swept everyone in the Western Conference series convincingly. The Warriors were one win away from the perfect season when they lost game 4 in the NBA Finals that year, but even that Finals series was convincing because the Warriors beat LeBron-led Cavs with an average point differential of 13.75. Their lowest winning point differential was 5 points in Game 3, and their highest being 22 points in Game 1. I don't think anybody could have beaten the Warriors in 2017 because they are overpowered. The following year in the 2018 playoffs the Warriors were still a beyond excellent team with the addition of Kevin Durant, and with an excellent supporting cast. That's why they won back-to-back championships, and swept the 2018 Cavs. As with the 2014 Finals with the Spurs, I don't think anyone can beat the Spurs and how good they played in 5 games against the Heat. It was their revenge tour from last years Finals.
Could it perhaps be that LeBron would have been eliminated prior to the Finals in the Western Conference? Probably, but I think he's still an excellent player to make an incredible impact on the team. However we're both speculating and because he played most of his career in the East so far, we will never know for sure.
While I would agree that LeBron and the Heat choked in the 2011 Finals, I think it's hard to criticize the guy for not having 6 - 7 rings. Kobe doesn't have 6, he has 5 in 20 years, Shaq doesn't, and Curry doesn't (perhaps yet). Most "good enough" teams do not have 6 - 7 NBA championships as of writing this within the past 30 years. Hell, there are only 5 teams with more than 5 NBA championships (Spurs, Bulls, Warriors, Lakers, Celtics). If you were to narrow that list to NBA teams within the past 20 years, it would be even less NBA teams.
I can understand you might not like LeBron because he flops, his attitude, or whatever reason it may be, but I just don't think you can bash a guy who doesn't have 6 - 7 rings because "good enough teams" could have won 6 - 7 rings within 20 years. Most teams don't win 5+ championships in 20 years. The only thing that I can think of between 2000 and 2020 are the Lakers and Spurs.

Example, the Los Angeles Lakers dominated the 2000’s. The Lakers Won 5 Chips between 2000-2010, 3 With Shaq, 2 WITHOUT SHAQ!!! 5 Championship’s Within 10 Years? That would make Kobe’s Lakers a dynasty / juggernaut! Example, the San Antonio Spurs won 5 Championships. Tim Duncan’s Spurs won 3 Chips between 2003 and 2007. If you add that up combined, the Lakers and the Spurs won majority of the Chips (8) between 2000-2010. The Spurs didn’t dominate quite like the Lakers, but they would still be considered a dynasty / juggernaut! Another example, Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls. The Bulls dominated the 90’s! They won 6 Championships between 1991 and 1998. Final example, Steph Curry’s Golden State Warriors are considered a dynasty! My point is, what decade did Lebron dominate? Name one team that he ever played for that was considered a dynasty. He didn’t even play on the best team during his era. That honor would go to the Golden State Warriors!

Fans were all for the current rivalries: Magic vs Bird, Jordan vs Drexler, Chicago vs New York, New York vs Indiana, Olajuwon vs Robinson, Houston vs Phoenix, Kemp & Payton Sonics vs Malone & Stockton Jazz. The only thing that mattered was who wins the series or the title, and all the debates and tensions had to do with that. The basketball community acclaimed MJ as the GOAT not because there was a debate, but to express the global admiration for what he was offering exceeded anything seen in the past. Now people talk all the time about who's the “goat,” “top 5,” “top 10,” because we have great talent but we don't have the essence of the game, that is, rivalry, intensity, excitement, everything that comes with passion to win above anything else. What we need is a new era of rivalries and genuine excitement to rise again.

Dude, awesome comment! I was thinking about that recently. All this talk about "the GOAT" has metastasized thanks to Lebron and his ilk propagandizing people through the mass media (specifically ESPN and Fox Sports) who hyper-focused on this topic on sports debates shows OVER and OVER and OVER again until people got all worked up about it.
MJ is the GOAT because, as you astutely pointed out, he TRANSCENDED the sport. Even great SOCCER players worship MJ and soccer is the most popular sport in the world, MJ is the only American athlete that is more recognizable than Pele in Brazil. He is that transcendent as both player and icon. We need a return of rivalries, and beefs, and division traditions, and fan traditions, and UNIQUE styles of play (I miss Kobe so much, NOBODY today really plays like him - you never knew what you were gonna get with him, left handed floaters, etc). I think we are seeing some of that return with Jimmy Butler upsetting the Celtics and the Celtics beating Miami the year before. That is a real rivalry with real animosity. I also think the Clippers and Lakers have a chance to be a real rivalry if Kawhi and PG stay healthy which is basically a pipe dream lol.

@@feynmanschwingere_mc2270 Thanx man. That's true, Michael Jordan is the only basketball player in history that reached the same levels of popularity worldwide as the top soccer legends like Pele and Maradona. David Becham said that when he went to Real Madrid and his number 7 was taken by Raúl Gonzalez, he chose 23 because of his admiration for MJ. In 1999-2000 MJ's son asked for a Raúl's signed jersey when they were in Spain, and Raúl sent it writing "to his Majesty who I always admire" recognizing Jordan as the greatest athlete in the world. On the contrary, when Lebron went to LA and Zlatan Ibrahimovic was playing there, he welcomed-mocked him tweeting that now LA had a god (himself) and a king. Then Lebron sent him his jersey, and Zlatan sent it back signed by himself. :) Also, in the Champions League final in Paris last year, Real Madrid's fans booed Lebron like the fans at the Super Bowl this year.

Get his teammates involved, is a "selfless player", is clutch... all while he hasnt lead the league in assists(which especially the last 5 yrs you would like he would be nailing this), or rebounds (isnt he an actual power forward?) he isnt all defense, he hasnt been the most clutch player on his championship teams for at least TWO of his 4 titles and all he does is LOSE...
SO no... he isnt the best teammate, he doesnt consistently get them involved" he isnt clutch and every move he has ever made in his entire career has been about HIM ALONE!
When can we just call him what he is... a great player, phenomenal athlete, incredibly smart business man/marketer of himself that has built an empire on his skills and "charm" and there is nothing wrong with that... he just isnt the greatest basketball player of all time... this video is the death nail in the coffin of LBJ

It was important to win rings, but the attitude was more “he’s got one too” than “I’ve got 6 and you’ve got 4.” Btw Kareem started winning those arguments when he passed Wilt’s point total. Just as no one really considered either Sampson or Olajuwon as a PF and C, Duncan in his seasons with Robinson was a center because C are primary rim-protectors on defense with mostly back-to-basket game (which Duncan was for all of his career, exclusively fitting the role during the post-Robinson years).

He actually DID play Center for most of his career the more i think about it. Absolutely, Olajuwon was superior to Duncan in nearly all facets of the game, except in the luck department as TD had a career with superior team management (consequently, better drafted teammates), quality of coaching staffs, overall quality of teammates, and fewer true contenders in the league during his respective era (really, it was mostly the Lakers, Heat, and Dirk).
After listening to the evidence presented by astute basketball historians, I agree that Hakeem is the greatest center of all-time. I see Duncan ~#6, behind Olajuwon, Kareem, Wilt, Russell, and Admiral, but just ahead of Shaq.

I look at Jordan's bulls being a true super team. I look back further and those celtics were a super team. I dont consider the warriors or the heat to be super team's. i think lebron certainly popularized the trend to join up with other stars but that heat team had flaws that were exposed. the warriors had flaws in that they buckled after a couple injuries and couldn't close out a 3 peat to show legit dominance. the important part about being a super team and clear cut above the rest is that it's the team being super great. If you are one of those folks under 30 and you have this view already you will get so much more out of sports, and really enjoy them. Or be like me, an old guy that gets pissed at Dak because I watch Aikman growing up and I know what a real general is. Stats mean nothing if you don’t win it all at some point. Thanks again.

Lebron changes the game for the worst smh. The NBA is the ONLY sport you have idiots fans calling a guy the goat who losses more than he wins on the big stage. Lebron can't compete if he doesn't have an unfair advantage

    Odd thing is
If LeBron never made the Big 3 Heatles and stayed with Cleveland, the Spurs and Thunder would have won titles in that time and could have changed everything (KD never goes to the Warriors, Duncan would finish with 6 rings, Kyrie would not be on the Cavs, etc.).
LeBron however might be able to win one title in Cleveland, but that would be his only championship.

Lebron ruined his own legacy by blaming everyone but himself for his lack of killer mentality (i.e Kobe, Jordan, Bird) Those guys never made excuses. They were excellence and they demanded the same, and made even the most average players play like champions. Another great video.

I think the appeal of European players is that most of them stay committed to their teams when the team is committed to them (think Dirk). Giannis and Jokic were developed by their respective teams as raw prospects, and I expect them to stay put for a very long time. Rookies sign 4 year contracts - in today's NBA, if your team is not a contender yet, I would expect most of them to leave. I root for the Wizards, who hasn't picked up an impactful free agent....ever. I'll check with them in 4 years when tanking is complete.

You notice the best player in the league always sets the precedent of competition for the rest of the league. In the 90s players would do things to gain a mental advantage over their opp because that's how Jordan competed. In 2000s, players carried a chip on their shoulder because that's how Kobe competed. In 2010, players jump team to team to join other stars because that's how Lebron competes

EXCELLENT point. I hadn't thought of that but you're actually 100% correct! THIS era embodies that p*ssified spirit. They all wanna team hop and play with superstars and be their own GMS and their own coach like Lebron. Nobody wants to be coached anymore. All the players wanna pick and choose who they play with, ALL OF THAT started with Lebron NOT KD. KD is blameless imo; he saw how LEMEDIA gave LeBron a pass for cheap rings on super teams and didnt criticize him, so he decided to do the same thing Lebron did.
