It’s feels so strange when at the beginning cutscene it looks like a movie with good quality and cgi, but in gameplay and in-game cutscenes they have a more geometric look.

Underrated jokes aside, I actually liked this game. The game gave us a bit of backstory for Shadow, literally giving us the true definition of "Dealing with the Devil" with Gerald and Black Doom. We even get to see our favorite Sonic Heroes characters show up (Except Big) which makes this game more lively with all of the different partners along the way. We learn on how we can make Shadow unite, betray, kill, protect, save, destroy, and even still carry out Maria's wish for a better world. Laugh it up all you want, this game might just be the most lore filled game in the franchise, and we should all be happy that this game existed.
I didn't know that. I'd assume it only works with the recurring characters, though, not Doom's Eye. I mean, what could you do as a floating eye with tentacles? Does Doom have laser eyes or something?
Fun Fact: In the final boss of this game if you are at 9 minutes Eggman tells shadow that he’s the real Shadow because he had one of his robots found him when he fell to earth making it think that Shadow died, but really he lost his memory.
58:07 This ending is so underrated. The idea that Shadow regains his memories, overcomes his demons and comes THIS close to stopping Black Doom- Only for him to pull a full 180 on Sonic at the eleventh hour; out of PURE PETTINESS- is fucking gold.

I love how Vector's vibin in the victory screens. Also, one of the endings is heartwarming. Because Shadow swears to protect the ARK and spares Eggman. Sometimes, an edgelord can be a pacifist, but only when he wants to.
This is honestly such a great game. The level design is great, with each different chooseable objective making you access different areas and play differently. The control could be better but it's fine. The soundtrack is stellar, guns were actually balanced fairly well, and the story variations could be quite fun. It's lovably edgy. You can still get decently immersed while laughing at the cheesy bits. Overall, good game.
No matter how badly disgraced Shadow is (through memes), I still give him respect for being the edge lord that kept Sonic in his place and toned down the extreme positivity of Sonic's universe in the past.... (And hopefully he'll arrive in Smash as well...)

Definitely! The people who complain about it because they think it's "too dark" or because the main character uses guns to defeat his enemies, are just stupid! I mean Shadow is a completely different character from Sonic and the game is still for kids, you can clearly see that by how cartoony the violence (including the gunfire) is, I mean you don't even kill humans, you just knock them down! It's totally recognizable to be a Sonic game, but with some main innovations since you play as a completely different character (in personality) It is clearly the most criminally underrated game I know! I'll end up being traumatized by a bunch of people who joined the thousands of others in the Sonic Forces hate bandwagon for no reason. For the vast majority of these bosses, I think the important thing to recognize is that when you have a full meter, you’re invincible and never run out of ammo. So instead of slowing down time with Chaos Control or constantly dealing less damage with Chaos Blast, the quickest and most efficient method is to grab a gun, wait for your meter to fill up, then go Rambo. You’ll deal major damage, and refill the meter, even as it’s draining. Handy, isn’t it? Your third battle with Black Doom is a good example. Also, they docked you the A-Rank for taking too long on the first Sonic and Diablon fight, didn’t they.
11 times huh? Try 326. In order to complete the cutscene library, you have to do that. Nobody should waste their life on that, but mine is empty enough for me to have actually done it.
I absolutely loved this game. It is in my top 3 game Sonic games for the GameCube, along with Sonic Adventure 2 & Sonic Heroes. Adding Crush 40 & having Jun Sunoue to get the music for each of the stages was awesome work!
Oh my gosh, Shadow the Hedgehog! I remember playing this on Nintendo GameCube back since my childhood. That's also how I've found out that those words "damn" and "hell" are not complete swear words but mild ("Where's that damn fourth Chaos Emerald?"). I wasn't even affected by those mild swearing in this Sonic the Hedgehog spin-off when I've played it during my childhood.

This is probably the only game that isn’t going to be so kid-like. It’s a 9/10 game, I love how dark in can be. I mean, it has guns, death, and lots of things you wouldn’t see in a kids game.
With his genius IQ, Eggman really built a mech that not only can damage him directly with his own attacks, but also give Shadow a power boost with Shadow Fever
One of the very first cutscenes, and his hand starts spazzing out. Glorious. Didn't remember this, but then again, I was fourteen when I last picked up this game, and I'm now 27, so yeah.
On a more serious note, I feel like black doom would have been better implemented as a villain if he were unveiled today. And his motives were really to halt an extinction level event more so than just a giant snack.
He seeds to see a doctor XD. Someone earlier in the comments said they beleive they saw shadows,foot in his head in his final confrontation with black doom.

Terrible mission structure, bad platforming physics, sometimes rage-quit level desing, dumb and barebones story, horrible "personality", meh bosses, horrible level progression and killing the Sonic's supporting character spin-offs
frankly the vareity of bosses in this game is impressive, even when you fight the same boss they are not exactly the same, they change the way you fight him and the attacks they have, amazing

At least Gerald Robotnik did regret what he's done. Dealing with a deadly alien overlord is the worst thing he's done! He knows that the Eclipse Cannon is strong and powerful enough to annihilate the Black Comet along with the Black Arms army so he only wants Shadow to use his powers to teleport the Comet, placing it within the Cannon's firing range. At least Gerald did learned from his mistakes even before he's executed...
That last cutscene with Shadow overlooking Earth on the ARK is probably the highlight of this game. Sure it definitely isn't long however tossing the photo is a sign he's moved on. What I wonder though is what happened after, did he stay on the ARK? Or did he go back to the surface? Memes and shit aside the game itself has some...questionable design choices but it was nice to see Sonic Team adopt a slightly darker tone for one of their titles... As cringy as it is
What happened after the ending was actually showed in 06. Yes, despite it's universal infamy and even the fact that the events of 06 are reset at the end, one thing I'll give credit to that game is that it brought a conclusion to Shadow's arc (considering that 06 simply showed us the aftermath of Shadows's game, even after the reset said aftermath still holds up as canon). Shadow went back to the surface, settled his differences with Abraham (the G.U.N. commander) and joined Rouge (and Omega) as a fellow G.U.N. agent (thus rendering Team Dark an actual team in the canon), partially to keep fighting the good cause but most likely also to ensure that G.U.N. wouldn't turn back into the corrupt force they were when they invaded the ARK 50 years ago. That's why his vehicles in the All-Stars Racing games all have the G.U.N. logo on them. A certain line in 06 also has Rouge suggest that Shadow may be a bit of a workaholic. And right after that, they dumped everyone that isn't Sonic in the fire, so his story ends here.

The fact that a 2nd controller controls Shadow's partner in each level such as Sonic etc is great and should be implemented in more games.
Played that game when I was 8. And I've liked that that 2nd player could play as your sidekick.

The people who complain about it because they think it's "too dark" or because the main character uses guns to defeat his enemies, are just stupid!
I mean Shadow is a completely different character from Sonic and the game is still for kids, you can clearly see that by how cartoony the violence (including the gunfire) is, I mean you don't even kill humans, you just knock them down!
It's totally recognizable to be a Sonic game, but with some main innovations since you play as a completely different character (in personality)
It is clearly the most criminally underrated game I know!

For the vast majority of these bosses, I think the important thing to recognize is that when you have a full meter, you’re invincible and never run out of ammo. So instead of slowing down time with Chaos Control or constantly dealing less damage with Chaos Blast, the quickest and most efficient method is to grab a gun, wait for your meter to fill up, then go Rambo. You’ll deal major damage, and refill the meter, even as it’s draining. Handy, isn’t it? Your third battle with Black Doom is a good example.
Also, they docked you the A-Rank for taking too long on the first Sonic and Diablon fight, didn’t they.
The only exception is the Egg Dealer, since there are no range weapons and the weapons the Egg Pawns dropped are melee weapons.

I absolutely loved this game. It is in my top 3 game Sonic games for the GameCube, along with Sonic Adventure 2 & Sonic Heroes. Adding Crush 40 & having Jun Sunoue to get the music for each of the stages was awesome work!

Oh my gosh, Shadow the Hedgehog! I remember playing this on Nintendo GameCube back since my childhood. That's also how I've found out that those words "damn" and "hell" are not complete swear words but mild ("Where's that damn fourth Chaos Emerald?"). I wasn't even affected by those mild swearing in this Sonic the Hedgehog spin-off when I've played it during my childhood.

One of the very first cutscenes, and his hand starts spazzing out. Glorious. Didn't remember this, but then again, I was fourteen when I last picked up this game, and I'm now 27, so yeah.
On a more serious note, I feel like black doom would have been better implemented as a villain if he were unveiled today. And his motives were really to halt an extinction level event more so than just a giant snack.

This is honestly such a great game. The level design is great, with each different chooseable objective making you access different areas and play differently. The control could be better but it's fine. The soundtrack is stellar, guns were actually balanced fairly well, and the story variations could be quite fun.

At least Gerald Robotnik did regret what he's done. Dealing with a deadly alien overlord is the worst thing he's done! He knows that the Eclipse Cannon is strong and powerful enough to annihilate the Black Comet along with the Black Arms army so he only wants Shadow to use his powers to teleport the Comet, placing it within the Cannon's firing range.
At least Gerald did learned from his mistakes even before he's executed...

That last cutscene with Shadow overlooking Earth on the ARK is probably the highlight of this game. Sure it definitely isn't long however tossing the photo is a sign he's moved on. What I wonder though is what happened after, did he stay on the ARK? Or did he go back to the surface?
Memes and shit aside the game itself has some...questionable design choices but it was nice to see Sonic Team adopt a slightly darker tone for one of their titles...

What happened after the ending was actually showed in 06. Yes, despite it's universal infamy and even the fact that the events of 06 are reset at the end, one thing I'll give credit to that game is that it brought a conclusion to Shadow's arc (considering that 06 simply showed us the aftermath of Shadows's game, even after the reset said aftermath still holds up as canon). Shadow went back to the surface, settled his differences with Abraham (the G.U.N. commander) and joined Rouge (and Omega) as a fellow G.U.N. agent (thus rendering Team Dark an actual team in the canon), partially to keep fighting the good cause but most likely also to ensure that G.U.N. wouldn't turn back into the corrupt force they were when they invaded the ARK 50 years ago. That's why his vehicles in the All-Stars Racing games all have the G.U.N. logo on them. A certain line in 06 also has Rouge suggest that Shadow may be a bit of a workaholic.
And right after that, they dumped everyone that isn't Sonic in the fire, so his story ends here.
