Coming up with a good premise is just the first step, and possibly the easiest, but actually writing a story with a compelling narrative and interesting plot developments is no easy task. Ask anyone who's started writing a novel based on an idea they swore would be absolutely mind bogglingly brilliant; it's not easy finishing, and certainly not finishing well, it never is. GIve the people who write these decade long stories and character arcs some credit, cause it's abysmally difficult to write something good, as opposed to just coming up with the premise.

There is actually a female joker in the comics (I think it’s in the flashpoint story, but idk). She’s Martha Wayne, because in that alternate universe, Bruce got shot instead of his parents, which led to his father becoming a more brutal batman and his mother becoming the joker

Eh, as an editor, I often have to gloss over some really good details to get that page count down. I bet because of the “family friendly” aspect and for time, he cut quite a bit. I’m thinking there was some pretty dark stuff while Robin was captive, and after he got free there was more to the story. Either apprenticeship gone wrong or confronting Batman, etc.
I feel the most lucky to have my job when I see really good work slide across that desk. I know half of the good stuff will get chucked, but at least I get to read it. I get to know. It’s such a cool feeling. 😅

Iago Natan You’ve never taken time to find the good ones then. There are AMAZING novel length fan fictions out there that I have enjoyed far more than most published books. Many authors use FanFiction to practice and stretch their muscles. Plus, in FanFiction you have more direct control over your work to explore themes and a publishing house or book store may not find suitable. There is a ton of creativity out there. It’s not all e.l. James I promise.

MintGordan 123 yea it counts. In certain versions of DC canon, joker was the Red Hood and then fell into the ACE Chemicals vat, and became the Joker
Not all of them, only two robins have become joker in canon (I believe). One from the cartoon and another was the unshown robin in Batman vs superman (worth movie ever)
