I just discovered your channel, and honestly, it's so therapeutic. I went to school in Maine and miss it terribly. Thank you for sharing your life and life's work with us.
I’m a Midwesterner born & bred and aside from catching minnows in local creeks, I don’t know a damn thing about fishing! But I’m mesmerized by your videos & this just made me smile!
These men work so HARD; up at 3:am and out on the water before 4:am. I have so much respect for the job they do to support their families. Much respect for his most beautiful “ egger” .. his wife…
I know nothing about lobster fishing, but I have learned so much from you guys. And I am so impressed with your little boat. Halibut, lobster, Maine, love them all. And your channel.
I discovered your videos a few weeks ago. I love the ocean and sky views and the older ice fishing. I actually live in the foothills of the mountains and believe the majesty of the mountains, sky, and water are second to none in showing the awesomeness of my Savior, Jesus. May God keep you safe and bless you and your crew.
What a loyal husband and father. Went out and caught everything and cooked it and made a big mess for the wife to clean lol. Loving his content. New sub found your channel on shorts about three weeks ago and I can’t stop watching
Watching you finesse all the levers, unhook ropes, clean out traps and all the rest is amazing. You and your crew work so well together. It’s a pleasure to watch. Your videos are such high quality. I’m just all around impressed. Thank you for sharing your life!
Wow I had to stop and say the quality of this video and transitions between scenes was insane. Really an amazing job looking forward to see recent videos.
Hello Jacob and Crew… I found channel a year ago and I have been watching your videos and shorts and y’all have made me laugh so much! I have the utmost respect for y’all, I know being a commercial lobstermen or fishermen doesn’t come easy… I have been to the beautiful state of Maine a couple of times to eat the freshest of seafood 🦞 I couldn’t make up there this year because Cancer had other plans for me,man! I miss that delicious Maine lobster 🦞 and specially now that I live in Pennsylvania… When I use to live in Rhode Island (for 30yrs) I had to have my 1 lobster and seafood once a week, I would go to Narragansett RI and wait for the boats to come back and I always like buying from them because I would pay what they priced their product and after a few years they got to know me and would save for me what they knew what I bought🥰 I hate Cancer!!!! A really bad Yanet for sure, but you have brought me joy and good beautiful memories…. Sending y’all lots of love and blessings and prayers from Pennsylvania 🙏🏼♥️🙏🏼♥️🙏🏼♥️
Those halibut are enormous! What an awesome lesson in filleting them. As a person who loves steak and seafood…and fishing, THANK YOU! Darn, I’m so craving sushi and a halibut steak.. You’re right, best tool is a razor sharp filleting knife.. PS..MY Dad was an avid fisherman; absolutely nothing was wasted, he caught them, and Mum and I cleaned and cooked them…my Mum had the most beautiful , healthy and prolific roses and flowering plants in the city..plants LOVE the fishy bits…nice to see a man who cleans and cooks his catch for the family.. MILK? Really? I’m going to try it.
Good catch with the Halibut. I like the use of the drone as it gives a better perspective of the fishery. BTW, back in the day, I worked on the docks in Seattle at a fish storage facility (Rainer Ice and Storage) for Salmon, Halibut and other species. The Halibut came in all sizes from chicks (size of small tennis racquets) to jumbos that tipped scales between 300 and 500 pounds. Those usually took 2-3 of us to move those around. Room temps ran from -40 deg F to 11 deg F. Fun times!
Dude, I LOVED that type of music you played in the video! I think it really captured the essence of the moment. I wish more channels would use that type of music for those types of situations! Thank you for posting everything in this video; even though you were new at it, you did a really good job, in my opinion.
Brilliant video footage! I really enjoyed it! The sunrise, the ocean, your crew, the sea gull and your boat were all spectacular to watch including your hauls of the day! Thanks for doing the cleaning of the halibut and cooking segment! It was also nice to see your wife and son. Your son had a lot to say while you were explaining how to take the lobster 🦞 meat out from the shell. It was so simple when one knows how to do it. I've attempted it without knowledge and made a big mess out of it!
great video Jacob! I have to say you have a pretty good personality for this type of commentary. I like the fact that you take the time out to explain without shouting or being over the top.
@jacobknowles5421 I appreciate how clean you keep your content. Family-friendly viewing isn't easy to find in this day and age. I have to say that I never thought I would be so interested in lobster fishing, but you and your crew make it fun, entertaining and educational for us. I get so many belly laughs from watching your antics with your crew. 😂❤ Much respect to y'all from eastern North Carolina.
I have even more respect for hard working fisherman and lobster fisherman. It's obviously a very tough job. Thankyou for sharing all your interesting videos.💙oh my goodness! Your baby is so adorable! What a doll!
Catching the fish, and cooking the fish. Yum. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoy your videos. Please keep them coming. Do you ever go out with other relatives fishing? If so, what do y'all catch and eat and take to the market. Wow! Your wife is very lucky. She looks very happy enjoying your catch of the day. Cute baby fisherman 😊❤.
@@jacobknowles5421 I'm extremely interested in your 180 ownership experience and have lots of questions. If there's enough interest, maybe you can make a video some time. Combining aviation and the outdoors is a dream situation for so many people.
Im a native maine guy myself an have caught a good charge of halibit on long lines. Jacob try grilling one someday VS steaming. So damn good. Wrap in aluminum foil with lots of butter, fresh lemon slices, and salt, pepper, garlic powder, and a hint of onion powder and then stick on grill for a hr maybe longer depending on fish size, I promisse ya wont complain about how it tastes. Hands down my favorite salt water fish in maine, then striped bass maybe but halibut is still king of salt water fish taste wise.
Hey I just wanted to say I'm really enjoying your channel and your videos I'd like a lot more of them you know the shorts are awesome but you know the 5 or 10 minute 20 minute videos hell I'll sit here and watch you for hours you and the guys and the fish and lobsters I really enjoy some music you pick I just I'm really enjoying your channel
Recently found your channel this is the first older video I've watched. I really appreciate you giving your time to entertain us,!! Also really enjoy the lub-lub of your engine at idle
Living in NH for 40 years I never knew Maine had Halibut or Pollock, I thought they were only found in the PNW and Alaska. That looked like some damn good eats. Great video
So cool, and well done. If you replaced the lobster with crab....you would have swore it was like a day for us on the west.....congrats on such a nice family... Gotta run, the herring are in and I need to fill the bait freezer......
Can’t get enough of this content ! Your long format stuff should have millions of views like your shorts! Dropping a like and comment for your algorithm!!
"Corny Uncle" joke from Minnesota ❄️about halibut...Why did you order the halibut, when there's walleye?..."Oh, just for the halibut" 😊😂. Thank you for sharing your videos about lobster fishing from Maine!!! I've learned so much and congratulations with 1 million subscribers and baby girl!!!! ❤🎉😊
3 halibuts that you worked your tail off for, and two mates. Diesel and maintenance on the boat...I hope you sell that halibut for 200 bucks a pound. Great videos, thanks for being so positive!
If you put salt in the boiling water on the bottom of a two-piece pot, it will boil hotter than regular water and the stuff in the top part will cook faster because the bottom part holds more heat. If you put salt in the water on top, it'll take the same amount of time as if you had plain water in both, but fish cooked in salted water does taste better.
I just love watching your videos and how you are with your family...so pure and wholesome!! Your parents did a fantastic job raising such a good man!!!
Oh my goodness, the cheeks are the best part! The filet mignon of the halibut. Please mail the cheeks to me. Actually, do you or the place where you sold the halibut ship halibut fillets? Beautiful video about a beautiful life. You are a very fortunate man. Hopefully, that young woman knows how fortunate she is.
Salt in water helps stop foamy boil overs, when food is cooked in the water, and adds a bit of flavor. Its not needed in a steamer/double boiler pot at all.
No no you have to get the cheeks out they really are the best part they fetch 29 bucks a pound they really do taste great the texture is different slightly but same flavor as the rest of the halibut Great videos by the way you guys do well
Please leave the cooking for others and reMaine at fishing! Just kidding :) the salt on steaming water will not do anything since the salt doesnt evaporate. Steam is just distilled water which is almost pure water. Cheers! Love your videos!
Love the content bud keep it up, Maine as hell. Side bar do you have commercial Halibut tags or are they just the regular ones? did you apply for them on the state site?
Thanks a lot man! Mine are commercial, just the 25 tags. You can get a different commercial license then the one I have that allows one per day year around but it comes with a lot of reporting and headaches. Mine is just the normal commercial 25 tag license. Yes applied right on the state site.
Back when Halibut steaks were reasonable in price we used to eat them often. In all the years I had no idea what one looked like, Im totally shocked by its appearance or its being flat.
Question what keeps some other guy from pulling up you fishing lines? Is it just the law of the sea or is there something that proves that is your line .?
Wishing you, Ashley and your little one all the very best. One hard working, loving family, right here. ❤️🔥 May the Love of Jesus and the Father cover your lives with sweetness, protection and success. ❤️🙏👼🪽✝️🕊️

Nice halibut 👍 love this fish so great eating yum
Great way too make tarter sauce is mayo relish and a tad of yellow mustard ❤

I really enjoy your videos. So for this one has been the best
I like this channel its like deadliest catch but with out the rage and made up drama.
A small amount of salt makes it boil faster and steam more. This is why you add a little bit of salt to a humidifier when you're sick.
love your videos and you work ethic. the grind is great and you are great at it. keep grinding!
Love you're excitement about catching the Halibut, from now on your name shall be "Fishrael" 😂

I love your videos!
I feel like I should eat more Lobster to keep you fishing!😂
1/2 cup Mayo
1 Tsp mustard

Best homemade tarter sauce if eaten!

Our coop ships seafood. Halibut is out of season right now. It opens in the spring.
Fortunate ? Maybe, he made it that way, it's not luck.
The face Ashley made was what made this entire video worth watching. ;)
My "MAINe" objective is lobster but I'll catch a fish just for the "HALIBUT" :) LOL
Great job on the fillets. Only thing I'd personally do different is cut the gills instead of the tail to bleed it out.
Nell
Looked like a good day!! Yeah boy!!
Jacob you look like you’re having more fun than working ❤
Those Halibut look like flounder ❤
Grand clip altogether.....loved it. (Scottish Fisherman)

Jacob, did you bread the fish in pancake mix?
“I do not claim to be a good cook!” 😂🤣😂🤣
Question: Why are large halibut not put back into the ocean as breeders? Very large lobster are classified as breeders and put back into the ocean.
Congratulations on the baby
Back when Halibut steaks were reasonable in price we used to eat them often. In all the years I had no idea what one looked like, Im totally shocked by its appearance or its being flat.
Salt water starts boiling slower. Because the boiling point is higher.
But that also mean that the stuff you boiling get done a bit quicker.
I clean my bluegill, perch and bass that same way!
Man, that fish skeleton would make some great stock
Wait what!!?🤯 vinegar in the butter?? For lobster?🤔
awesome vids. keep up the good work.
