I'm an old lobster fisherman's helper, and I fished lobster in my teens in the 60s with my grandfather. We boiled lobster in a 5 gallon can, hung over the exhaust pipe of the engine. They were cooked in seawater directly from the Northumberland Strait, splashed with vinegar and dipped in real butter and washed down with beer. Since then, I've never tasted lobster that good. Your picnic brought back old memories. Love your videos. It's been many years since I felt the splash of seawater in my face, but I live it again watching your channel.

We're on a platform that's open to the world and many types of people depending on where they grew up, so to say that only one belief is "better" or treating others as potential "recruitment" is a bit narrow. I'd say regardless, I'm happy to have anyone along, whether you're from another part of the world or don't know what you're doing in life yet, it is a journey after all and I'm glad you're still here on this day in this way. I swear these gents have achieved as close to some sort of stoic nirvana as you can get. Sustainable business, a job which is hard but they love doing, the absolute joy of being able not only to provide financially for their family, but literally go haul enough food for a couple dozen people to eat whenever the weather is good enough to do so. I'm sure it's not an easy life, and hot damn does it look like a lot of work, but ya'll seem like a great group of folks with a great disposition that make me want some fresh lobster so damn badly XD I seriously considered keeping one as a pet because it's so interesting to see their life cycle in these videos and it's an organism that is just looked at as an ingredient but is soo cool alive too.

Had a home on the bay in Lincolnville for many years. Our lobsterman, Mike H., was also the harbormaster. Sailed up to your neck of the woods often. Your videos take me back to a wonderful time.
@@skipheald7300 Not surprised. Lobsterman community is tightly knit. My husband preferred 1.5 pound males as well, but cooked them for 13 minutes. Remembering those New Year’s Eve celebrations with all the guys in ski jackets hovering over the boiling pots on our deck. Fun times.

Never been a lobsterman. Eaten more than I can recall, though.Grew up a little south of you - Cape Ann, MA. Got older, wound up at UMO. That was a long time ago. Been up and down the coast of New England many times - fishing, sailing. I'm landlocked now, surrounded by folks for whom lobsters are not a part of daily life. Love your "How to Eat a Lobster" routine. Reminds me of the first time my father taught me, and then how many times I've repeated it to first-timers. Thank you for sharing your family outing with us. This is so nostalgic for me…when we were teens in the late ‘70’s, my BFF joined my family each summer vacationing in a cottage in Corea ME. Made a lot of lifelong friends there, many who lobster fished. A couple took us out of their hauls so I can now see how more sophisticated the trapping is now. Oh the times we had! My BFF continued vacationing there with her own family & has a home there. I went back to visit her there a couple summers ago & nothing’s changed. Still such a beautiful, unspoiled area.

To be fair, he worked that morning, you can be out and done lobster fishing by 2pm or earlier. But you're out on the water at about 4 or 5am to start.

I've been to Maine many times and every time I'm there, it feels like home. This video made me feel homesick if that's possible. Never been a lobsterman. Eaten more than I can recall, though.Grew up a little south of you - Cape Ann, MA. Got older, wound up at UMO. That was a long time ago.
Been up and down the coast of New England many times - fishing, sailing. I'm landlocked now, surrounded by folks for whom lobsters are not a part of daily life. Love your "How to Eat a Lobster" routine. Reminds me of the first time my father taught me, and then how many times I've repeated it to first-timers.

So far I've enjoyed all the antics, and learned a fair bit along the way. The 9 foot tuna was right down my alley, as I always have a freezer full of it. This is so nostalgic for me…when we were teens in the late ‘70’s, my BFF joined my family each summer vacationing in a cottage in Corea ME. Made a lot of lifelong friends there, many who lobster fished. A couple took us out of their hauls so I can now see how more sophisticated the trapping is now. Oh the times we had! My BFF continued vacationing there with her own family & has a home there. I went back to visit her there a couple summers ago & nothing’s changed. Still such a beautiful, unspoiled area.
