And remember, this is the same woman who went on to nail Stairway in front of Led Zeppelin nearly forty years later, at age sixty-two. Ann is now seventy-three, and still killing it. She's a national treasure.
And do a recent duet with disturbed....flawless and timeless
Amen to that, Saw them twice, early 80s and then mid 90s. WHOA !
@@busher69saw them the day Elvis died in 1977
wao, amazing, Is Ann in person as beautiful as on video? @@vernhoke7730
Amen
A barracuda is a predatory saltwater fish that stalks rather than hunts. They're incredibly fast, powerful and nasty fighters. Ann and Nancy Wilson wrote this song about one of their promoters that wanted to portray them as incestuous polyamorous lesbians, to basically refer to the promoter as a nasty, slimy, stalking predator.
Also, Sisters harmonizing. No autotune, just incredible talent and Ann Wilson is still killing it in her 70s, she recently covered Layne Staley’s vocals on "Rooster" with Alice In Chains.
Ann was absolutely salty when she wrote this one. Good for her because this shit ROCKS
I was about to type out the back story , and saw your comment. Thanks for saving me the time of explaining it, well done buddy
Any band with a dead vocalist would bend over backwards to have her sing with them. Queen would be interesting, but she nailed Stairway!
Very nicely said.
Fun Fact: Ann & Nancy Wilson are sisters, they wrote this song as an angry response to their record label spreading false scandalous rumors about them, saying that Ann & Nancy were secretly lovers (which obviously wasn't true) just as a marketing ploy to increase album sales. This made the sisters so mad that they wrote this song to tell off, rebuke & reprimand these record label agents, calling them "barracudas" (a predator fish known for their deliberately cruel temperament & vicious behavior).
If you watch the live version of "Crazy on you" Nancy has a killer guitar intro
Just make sure you get the full version - there's one out there where the guitar intro is shortened.
The 'Crazy On You' vid is also fully live, not synced to the retail recorded versions of their songs like this and many other 70's video's out there:

@@vadagget yep.
Absolutely!!
Under-rated guitar player
The opening riff is probably one of the greatest and well known guitar riffs in the history of all music. Instantly recognizeable.
Strait On Dog and BUTTERFLY Kick It OUT Crazy On You are examples of how great they were in the 70s
Ann best Rockin Roll Female voice of all time. Heart you are going down a big rabbit Hole.
Top 5 for me, male or female.
Stevie.
Anne is the Best female Rock voice, best voice overall is Karen Carpenter.
OMG you must react to Heart's "Magic Man" next! MM was their first hit single from their debut album "Dreamboat Annie" two years prior. And to fully appreciate this band, beyond their ability to rock, please check out their folk pop/ acoustic songs "Dog and Butterfly", "Love Alive", and "Dreamboat Annie". You'll get to hear just how intricate the Wilson Sisters' harmonies really are. ❤
HEART is 100% REAL ROCKERS! They are terrific musicians! Great reaction!
Legend has it that Ann Wilson once stood in front of a Sherman tank and carved the armor off it with her voice 😮
The story on the writing of this song goes like this. Ann and Nancy Wilson were at record company party of some sort when one of the sleazy slimy record company executive asked Ann "How is your lover?" Ann thought he meant her boyfriend at the time. So she said he's fine and the scum bag replied no I mean your lover your sister how's your lover? This pissed Ann off and that very night she wrote Barracuda! And the rest is history! Love that you are going down the Heart rabbit hole! They have so many great song! What About Love, and if you want to hear Nancy take the lead in some songs, These Dreams, Stranded, and Will You be There in The Morning. You really can't go wrong with Heart! Cheers!
Yep. They not only insinuated that Ann and Nancy were "lovers", but, propagated the rumor to sell records and Ann/Heart wrote Barracuda as a response.
and kudos to Michael DeRosier, the drummer, he's a absolute beast behind the kit! ❤🥁
Love his drumming!!
Nowhere as good as Paulina Villarreal.
“Crazy on you” is another early hit of theirs. Seeing them “live” (6 or 7 times) in the 70’s was a real treat.
Both sisters as well as the entire band were soo
talented !! Even my Mom loved all of their albums !! ❤❤❤ 11:44
That’s the one
They were so young here, and with incredible talent. This was 1977. I remember going to the Record Bar, and buying their album in 1977 at the age of 17.
Note: Heart doesn't always use acoustic guitar, but when they do it's always Nancy playing it. She plays several instruments, including electric guitars, but acoustic is her passion. She really spotlights her talent on the live concert video of Heart's Crazy On You. It intros with an extended acoustic guitar solo by Nancy. Excellent performance.
That galloping riff is an aspect of Metal and this was an early example of it that came before Metal.
No autotune, just talent.
Wow indeed. That is what real female singing talent sounds like. You can't go wrong with Heart.
Ann arguably has the greatest female rock voice ever!
Congratulations! That riff is now programmed into your brain. You'll know it's barracuda almost instantly for now on
One Heart song that is really popular, but I rarely see reactions to is Straight On. Such a groove!
Didnt like it
I love it!!! ❤
1st of the Heart 70's top 3, Barracuda, Crazy on You, Magic Man. All are must listens
I agree about Ann's voice. Her voice is clear, powerful with very good enunciation. I can understand the words she's singing. She has excellent control over her voice.
“Mistral Wind “ is a lesser known but vocal masterpiece. Their cover of “Tell it like it is” another great song with little air play.
Mistral Wind is a force; an entire experience by itself
Do the live version on their Greatest Hits Live album!!!!!!
Mistrial Wind is a prog rock banger! Gotta check out the Alive In Seattle version from 2002. Easily my favorite version.
I'm so grateful I had this kind of music when I was growing up in the late 60s 70s and early 80s. If music back then was like it is now I wouldn't have had any music in my life at all.
The 70s were a creative explosion...something rare!
Well I grew up with this and I even had an older cousin that would watch them Jam over the lunch hour at his high school once in awhile in Washington state, and everybody was buying Ovation acoustic guitars, and I never get tired of this. You are right. That and Magic Man and crazy on you and other stuff. It just always sounds so good to me and feels so good
Great reaction Stacey! Check out these other Heart songs.
Heart - "Crazy On You" is another rocking song from their 1970's Hits.
Heart - "What About Love?" This is my favorite Heart song! Great guitar solos! Nancy is no slouch on the Lead Vocals either. Check out these songs where Nancy sings lead. These songs are superb!
Heart - "There's The Girl"
Heart - "These Dreams"
I haven't met one person who doesn't like Barracuda. Definitely one of the most iconic rock songs of all time.
Barracuda is one of their first hits in the 70s and, Alone was done several years later in the 80s
The kitty cat just wanted to say "I got a heart too! And my meow is beautiful too!"

I am very sorry! Having a conversation with you would have been very nice. You have a great channel and a great personality. Keep doing what you are doing.
Barracuda was iconic when it came out. Mainly for the unique guitar riffs. I loved it then and I love it still. And I admit that Ann was an eye's treat for that young man I was back then. But yeah, the entire song was just electrifying when I first heard it on the radio. I wasn't able to distinguish Ann's voice and artistry as I do now which is kinda sad. But I loved to rock along with that masterpiece.
This song stands the test of time incredibly well. Her voice is unparalleled. Great channel. I wish you great success.
If you want to hear how beautiful and then just how hard Heart can rock, listen to "Dreamboat Annie" followed by "Crazy on You" - - - - - Crazy on You is Hearts signature song. When it hit the streets nobody could believe it. I've mentioned this before, out of prolly 75 to 80 concerts I've seen, Heart is still in my top 3. Huge respect to both of these women for what they did in the Rock n Roll world and when they did it. They took a backseat to nobody
When I first heard "Crazy on You", I thought, Finally, a woman who does flat-out hard rock and does it as well or better than any male. Ann Wilson instantly became one of my two all-time favorite female voices in pop/rock, along with Karen Carpenter (who was actually a smooth jazz drummer and singer).
They did a lot of Led Zeppelin in their concerts! Their take on The Battle of Evermore is EPIC!❤❤❤
First lol. Great reaction Stacey. This is a classic. It's from their album Dreamboat Annie, "Crazy On You" and "Magic Man" should be next.
This is from their third album Little Queen. Saw them way back in '77 in the old Richfield collosium near Cleveland. No one sat down during the whole concert!!! Ann is POWERHOUSE!!!
@@gregorysimmers Thanks for the correction.
Appreciate your thoughtful commentary at the end for sure.
This song is on the radio every 10 mins
I lived Seattle in the late 70's, I became a fan in 77 when I heard the Dreamboat Annie album and to this day there is no other female voice in rock that can touch the power and range of Ann but if you listen to some of their minstrel sounding albums like Little Queen or Dog & Butterfly where the sisters blend harmonies with acoustic sound that is simply beautiful and pure. I ran down to Rainy day records in Olympia Wa right after school my senior year in 78 the day the D&B album was released. I couldn't wait to hear it and found a friend with a turntable where we both sat and listened intently. The way that they blend hard rock and soft ballads on every album is one of the reasons for their long success. I saw them in 1980 on the Bebe La Strange`tour where they rocked the Tacoma dome a local venue. I have so many favorites, if I had to pick a favorite song, I would have to go back to 1st album Dream Boat Annie (as a young man, Annie was a dreamboat) and choose a song that is very underrated in their catalog. The song is White Lightning and Wine and it has a funky guitar start and Ann delivers some great screams in this rockin' track. Who doesn't like the use of a cowbell giving it a time stamp of sorts for the 70's? Take time to watch the Kennedy Center honors of Led Zeppelin and see the intensity at which the band listened to Hearts performance of Stairway to Heaven with the added feature that really excited the members of Zeppelin with Hearts rendition. Enjoy! ruclips.net/video/LFxOaDeJmXk/видео.html
Seems I'm late as always, I just saw that you already reviewed that performance. I'm watching that next. 🙂🙃
Ann's three octave range is legendary. Karen Carpenter was another female lead singer that had that type of range and pitch perfect voice in the easy listening category.
I grew up on this. This was on the radio all the time when I was a teenager.
Another song with a similar background riff is "Edge of Seventeen" by Stevie Nicks. Both Heart and Stevie were part of the female power rock explosion in pop music during the '70s and '80s, along with Blondie (Debbie Harry), Joan Jett and others. Being a teenager in the '70s, the BEST (and wildest) girls to date were those who were Heart fans!
Somehow for some reason this brings tears to my eyes the big bands of the 70's we're all masters, seeing heart live was awesome.Still the best concert I ever seen was in 1985 with the Firm opening for Robert Plant .concert was 5 1/2 hours long.
This song was so fun to play to Guitar Hero 3. It was one of the few songs that wasn't too hard but still made you feel like a badass 🤣
For those of us old enough to remember PS2 and Guitar Hero, this was a song i fell in love with on that game!
Ann was actually offered a recording contract just for herself but she turned it down and said she would only sign as a band. Lucky for the band.
3:04 The look in the 80's was "big hair" whereas the 70's was the "au naturale" era!
Beyond cool...vocals and guitar. Put's me in mind of my favourite old Queen songs like 'Keep Yourself Alive' and 'Now I'm Here'. Nothing beats being a 70s child :-)
Stacey, this is early Heart 1977. This came out on their 2nd album "Little Queen". Their first album "Dreamboat Annie" came out in 1976. 70'S Heart was their best era in my opinion. Have a great day! I really enjoy your heartfelt reactions.
saw them long long ago. What a spectacular show! Ann played flute in Dog and Butterfly.
This song has been stuck in my head since the 70's 😄
Aan Wilson's voice is Soo strong it's amazing
BTW; Ann Wilson is a big Floor Jansen fan and Floor is a big Ann Wilson fan.
Just imagining what the two of them would sound like on stage gives me goosebumps.
From early 2023, when Nightwish joined the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise ...

Its rock and roll baby at its finest! Im 61 grew up with all of it. No analysis necessary. Just let it take ya.
Barracuda has always been part of one's rock n roll road trip playlist. Along with similar classics like "American Woman" (The Guess Who), "Highway Star" (Deep Purple), "Smoke on the Water" (Deep Purple), "Let It Ride" (BTO), "More Than A Feeling" (Boston), "Stone Cold Crazy" (Queen), "Keep Yourself Alive" (Queen), "Life Is a Highway" (Tom Cochrane), "Oowatanite" (April Wine), "Free Ride" (The Edgar Winter Group), "I'd Love To Change the World" (Ten Years After), "Listen to the Music" (The Doobie Brothers), "China Grove" (The Doobie Brothers), "Paranoid" (Black Sabbath), "My Own Way to Rock" (Burton Cummings), "Lunatic Fringe" (Red Rider), "Tush" (ZZ Top), "Legs" (ZZ Top), "Stay With Me" (The Faces), "Sweet Home Alabama" (Lynyrd Skynyrd), "I Know A Little" (Lynyrd Skynyrd), "Rockin' In the Free World" (Neil Young), "Rock n Roll Hootchie Koo" (Rick Derringer), "Helter Skelter (The Beatles), "Rock and Roll" (Led Zeppelin), "Ballroom Blitz" (The Sweet), "Girls School" (Paul McCartney & Wings)....to name a few. Heart fit right in with all these iconic bands and singers.
It’s a fabulous galloping guitar and drum session that never lets up.. gets more intense till the end
Probably my favorite Heart song. And in my opinion, one of the better songs of the 70’s. Great reaction ♥️
They also bring that West coast, California flavor to what thay do. Their Dad was military guy. They were both born in California. ❤❤❤
This is definitely my hands down favorite of theirs. Another one that you'll like a lot is "Magic Man". Great reaction!
Barracuda is their most well-known song. But they have so many great songs that are criminally underrated. They are so diversified and their songwriting abilities were off the charts. Two songs I always recommend are Dream of the Archer and Minstral Wind. If you do give them a listen, I would suggest listening to the live versions. Dream of The Archer - 1995 The Road Show performance and Minstral Wind Live in Seattle, 2002.
Ann has some of the best facial expressions in rock and roll!
Crazy on you next❤ They have sooo many great songs.I saw them in the early 90's those ladies kicked ass😂❤
If you are reading this Stacy, AND you decide to react to "Crazy On You" next, you simply must watch the earlier live version when Nancy gives the opening intro ...SImply amazing guitar work!!!
See it here: ruclips.net/video/XKJbyK4NTek/видео.html
Heart played for my senior prom. Ann is the same age as I am. The guitarist Sister, Nancy, was still at a neighboring high school. Led Zeplin II album was only a month old. Heart played whole lotta love from it and No Quarter from the first album. Nancy wrote Barracuda because she was disappointed by a man. She was angary.
This is a protest song... Love the Reaction!
Another fabulous reaction!! Keep the Hearts coming!!
How scary is this
I had just bought a 1969 Barracuda as a senior in high school. This song had just been released. Here I am flying down the road in this bad ass car, when this song comes over the radio. I was really? Standing on the brakes so I could get out and listen to it without killing myself. What memories the 70's.
Stacy, Heart ❤️ is and always will be a rock n roll heavy weight!! Ann's voice is truly unique and motivating, I'm really glad you appreciate their music, Keep learning and keeping discovering a lost musical time in history
Ann Wilson and Floor Jansen, in my humble opinion, are the greatest singers to ever record music! Another beautiful reaction! Doesn't get any better than Ann, Nancy, and you on the same screen, lol! Blessings to you!
I love the galloping rhythm....very infectious.
Ann Wilson is arguably the best female rock singer of all time. The only one I can think of who could top her is Floor Jansen (Nightwish)
I concur
Another great choice. Ann Wilson has a killer set of pipes. And she (and the band) can shift effortlessly between soft songs like “Dog And Butterfly” and straight-ahead rockers like this one. I fell in love with their driving “Black On Black” but I’m not sure if it was ever released as a single. Also, side note, this is the studio audio track, over (semi-) live visuals.
Don’t enjoy hearing “washed up”. We don’t know that part of your life, and don’t like hearing you described that way. It doesn’t describe what we’re seeing here on the Tube. Enjoying your new part-time contributor! Take good care of him. Love the ferocity in that Twitch clip! Remember, check out Two Steps From Hell ~ “Dragonwing” will take you for a ride.
The animated version of the music video A-Ha "Take on me" It's a love story and I really think you will dig it
Great reaction! You should watch Crazy on You next if you like Heart!
You're kind of right when you say "maybe one of Heart's most popular songs." Though they had many hits, "Barracuda" was kind of their signature song, and it was from their best period, in my opinion, the seventies.
Barracuda was the record executive that was trying to get with the Wilson sisters.
For yet another flavor of this band, you might try Dog And Butterfly. It's a very easy, smooth, laid-back vibe. Like you said, they can do it all.
If you're liking what you're seeing with Heart so far, you should find the live version of "Crazy On You" with the long acoustic intro by Nancy Wilson. There are a few versions out there but I think there's only one with the full acoustic intro... I think it may have been from this same performance, but maybe not.. it was definitely the same time frame...
I provided the link so hopefully she gets it. ❤
The 1978 version begins with "Silver Wheels" before segueing into the intro for "Crazy on You". That complex acoustic solo is one of the most entrancing setups in live rock history.
Absolutely love the Wilson sisters and their work.keep up the good work. So much great music out there!
If you want to listen to another great female artist! Try this hidden gem from Canada Sass Jordan! Anything off her Rats CD is excellent, but try high road easy!
I love to see you praise them the way I do as well. I love your reactions so very much. Keep doing more, I’ll be waiting
@Stacey_RPG_Reactss- Stacy said on the reaction she is not on Telegram
Love this song. Thanks for your reaction. Your kitty is cute.
We used to blast this song, and only Heart albums, errrr, tapes...on our ghetto blaster...errr, boom box...on the school bus on the wau to middle school, err...Junior High School.
We were only allowed Heart albums because the bus driver loved them and feared much of the other music we may have put on. Like very early Metallica, Judas Priest and earliest Motley Crue 😂
I'm glad you enjoyed this what a band. She's the best rock and roll singer of all time bar none they have a lot of good songs . There's a song that nobody plays and I think it's the best song on the Dreamboat Annie album it's called Sing child I would appreciate if you would play that song. Keep up the great work love watching you you are a real sweetheart
This is a perfect driving song, except for when you look at the dashboard and realize you’re doing 100 mph. 😁
One of the few groups that sound as good live, if not better, than studio.
Love your reaction to this awesome band. I am a man in my 70’s and thru the years I have gone from 8-tracks to cassette to cd’s to downloading music and Heart has been with me all the way. Very much appreciate your love for these ladies. As others have said, straight on, crazy on you, magic man and others are waiting for your enjoyment and reactions. Keep up the good work.
"Magic Man" is a must listen! Love your reactions Stacey! Seen them live many times in the 80s Outstanding concert every time!
Great reaction!! The more you listen to Heart, the more you'll come to be in awe of the Wilson sisters! Ann is a powerhouse vocalist, Nancy is a fantastic guitarist (and vocalist in her own right - both on harmonizing with her sis & on some songs where she gets lead!! Check These Dreams!).
Future considerations: Never, Crazy On You, Sylvan Song/Dream of the Archer (you'll really here how amazing they both are!), Who Will You Run To, Soul Of The Sea....for starters...
Have loved this group since my sister got me into them when I was 5...WAYYYYY back in 1983...so been loving them for a long, LONG time! Cheers.
The 70's vibe was the best ever! They rocked it back then! Take a listen to their first album 'Dreamboat Annie', I think you'll love it!
This song has been my ringtones for a decade now.
This was my 1st Heart song I heard on the radio as a kid. I thought it was heaviest song ever (I hadn’t found Sabbath yet). They had a great rabbit hole.
Straight On, Magic Man & Crazy On You are next 3 songs
Ann effortlessly sings with passion. Suggestion for other Heart songs... "Magic Man"
Such a great song. Ann Wilson wrote the lyrics and the music was written by lead guitarist Roger Fisher, drummer Michael Derosier and acoustic guitarist Nancy Wilson.
Agree 100% Ann Wilson had/ has such a strong iconic voice that you almost have to review her material, however if I could - Perhaps you could check out Lzzy Hale. Especially the recordings with Adrenaline Mob and Russell Allen, or even her own bands Halestorm etc. and after that Rik Emmett of Triumph, Geoff Tate of Queensryche just to name a few.
I told you once I'll tell you again you are going to love the music late 60' thru the mid 90's 😊🎸 just to many bands and song's to list them all 😊🎸
Great choice for a Heart reaction! One of their best. That is Michael Derosier on drums, and you're right, he's excellent. The guitar solo you enjoyed is by Roger Fisher, a tremendous guitarist. He has a RUclips video, where he explains how this song was created, since you're interested in the creation of this song. You might want to check that out. Please keep reacting to these classic bands, really enjoy your reactions.
Hello my friend Stacey!!..I have noted you have a very emotional soul, so I'm going to suggest this amazing, emotional and incredible young singer, because apart from her incredible talent, Emma is an example of life for all human beings...Believe me: You have to react to this amazing singer....One of the big stars in the music's future!!...Emma Kok (15 years old), Utrecht, Netherlands, winner of The Voice Kids 2021 (when she was 12 years old) and Ministars 2023....Here she is covering the theme "Voilá", together with the Johann Strauss orchestra conducted by the well-known André Rieu....The original song is by Barbara Pravi who represented France at Eurovision 2021 in Rotterdam....Emma suffers from a rare gastric disease, her stomach is inhibited by this illness, practically becoming dormant. Emma is, therefore, dependent on two feeding pumps, essential lifelines providing her food, so she created her own foundation called Gastrostars to raise funds to investigate this disease....Unfortunately the original video does not have English subtitles, but I am sure that will not be a problem for you to appreciate this gem of an interpretation.....And if it doesn't bother you, I would like you to mention me as the person who recommended it to you...Very important: The video begins with Maestro André making a short introduction to the audience of who Emma Kok is, so please don't miss that introduction because it is very important to understand the context and the incredible story of this extraordinary young singer....Here is the link of the official video:...ruclips.net/video/KdIhq1tb8Co/видео.htmlsi=8VlaeZhVgrUNG4t7
Welcome to Heart enjoy you're journey
One of several bands I've seen more times than I can count in concert. I can attest that they are the real deal. You should also check out the video of them performing Crazy on you. It starts with an acoustic guitar solo by Nancy.
She is the best female voice in rock, far as I (and many others) am concerned
Can remember when this first came out 1975 was not available in the UK only as a very expensive import , but had to buy it . Was just blown away by the band on first time hearing .
Was lucky enough to meet them in 1988 when they played London at an after party , really great people .
