- As part of Sweet Relief Musicians Fund's recent 'For The Crew' fundraising event, Hooky's son Jack teamed up with Mark Lanegan (Mark Lanegan Band/Screaming Trees), Smashing Pumpkins guitarist Jeff Schroeder and drummer Shane Graham for a special live version of the Joy Division classic 'Disorder'.
All funds raised by this event went towards supporting out of work touring crews who have been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic.

Lanegan voice fits Joy Division perfectly. I wish he covered all their songs before passing away 😔
wish there was studio version of Love Will Tear Us Apart from Mark, maybe one will appear to ease my sadness or I missed over the years somehow
yes you are absolutely right. His voice has the same atmosphere as Ian Curtis.
Peter Hook & The Light - Live At The Roadhouse Camden. Mark does vocals on Atmosphere & Dead Souls
He did just never did the covers. He got kurt into them for a bit also which aint said much...kurt said he loved their ideas but was never their biggest fan oh the irony. Rip ian kurt and mark ❤️ music will never be the same x
He did at one point or another x
Fly high Lanegan
RELEASE THIS AS A SINGLE!
Ace idea and donate proceeds to roadies/crew etc
This is one of the best things I’ve ever heard. Miss you Mark. You’re still helping me through it tho 🖤
So frigging sharp you could cut yourself, love the qurky drumming so much i use as my go to drum warm up . awesome , RIP Mark Lanegan.
😥😥 RIP MARK
😭😭😭😭
My most loved JD song, thank you. I'd love to see These Days and stuff from Still like Ice Age, Glass, Something Must Break treated this way (i.e. DI-ed, PHATL live versions are plentiful enough).
Very energetic!!! Joy Division was dark, but beautiful!
Thanks for capturing the guitar solo, so now i can play the solo correct, nit in 3 and 5 frets
Ficou ótima essa versão.
Wow!!! Amazing!!!
yup
Únicos ,❤️
Mark's voice is just so perfect for this.
yes you are right, you get the same feeling as Ian Curtis is singing.Perfect cover !!
Absolutely
This may be my favorite Joy Division cover done by people who were not in Joy Division.
Incredible
Agree
@@MattWhittingham Agree 2.
Funny you are right, none of them were in JD and still they made this perfect cover.
JOY DIVISION + LANEGAN = MASTERPIECE
This version was all "feeling, feeling, feeling".one of the best remakes ever heard in my 57 yrs.
You took the words right out of my mouth!
One of the best covers this 56yr old has ever heard
Mark can’t fail
@@andreacsl2999 that's right!
Ya man
Yeah!
RIP Mark, pure rock n roll, sadly missed, never forgotten 😢 Ian is waiting for you in the upstairs bar 🍾
Mark + Joy Division song = everything I need.
Rip Ian & Mark, you both are truly missed 🖤
I did not see this coming. Fucking epic.
Love you, Mark. Say hi to Ian for us. 😭😢
Normaly i dislike most Joy Division covers because people cant catch the mood you need to perform it propper. But this is totally different.
Loved it since the first bars and it got even better with every second. A Masterpiece. Great. Thank you for sharing. 🖤
Greetings from Germany ✌️
Brilliant cover!
Just type "The Distillers No Love Lost". I tried to check their own songs, but No Love Lost was really the only one I liked.
Rest easy, Mark. 🖤 Thank you, hooky & gang. Simply superb! ❤️🩹
This is brilliant. A faithful rendition, and Mark Lanegan has the best voice in modern rock/indie/whatever-you-want-to-call-it.
+1
God I *need* all these collaboration covers he's done on RUclips collected somewhere and released as an official compilation album. That voice, man.
Definitely!
Love you Mark, have a nice trip...still hard to believe you are forever gone....💔
First guy I've seen play the bass part right when the guitar does the little lead run and how the bass hits the low note on the 2 and 4 nice job guys. And it's good to Xpose the younger generation to good music from back in the day. Long live the voice of Ian Curtis...
I’d hope he knows how to play it the right way. Jack Bates is Peter Hook’s son. Probably learned how to play this entire album before he learned to walk.
I'm glad we got such an amazing cover with Mark Lanegan on vocals before he died. He was a huge JD fan and it shows.
RIP Mark, say hello to heaven, and to Ian and Chris as well...
O melhor cover de disorder que ja vi.
O vocal do Mark ta foda demais!
Mark - you are/were incredible. I’m sad to hear that Mark has passed. One of the greats, and he always was.
RIP Mark
Mark's vocals fit this song so well, he was very good at covering songs that fit him perfectly.
Well, yeah
Rest in piece Mark. I’ll always remember your 2017 encore with hooky at the ritz singing love will tear us apart.
My first experience with Joy Division was Disorder. Only 13 in 1988. Now I am 46 and same opinion, what a fuckin great band they were!
Mr Mark fucking Lanegan! Thank you for this disorder
Incredible, I'm speechless! His voice is just perfect for Joy Division, I wish we could have some more covers from him... RIP!
RIP Mark
And RIP Ian
Brilliant cover .
I got introduced to the voice via the Trees in the 90's. Interestingly, this was the first thing I thought of when I read of Lanegan's untimely passing.
This is so perfect. Every performer right on point. Now I am just sad. RIP
Love you Mark Lanegan forever ! 🌷🙏❤️
Out of all the covers I’ve heard, this, this ones it.
yes really great.
Wow, Mr. Lanegan's vocals were really good. Would love to see a proper studio recording of this with some atmospheric spice (SFX, synths, reverb on the drums, that sort of thing) added for fun.
Sounds as fresh as it did 40 plus years ago. Great version love it!
yes it is as good as 40 year ago.
RIP Mark, thanks for this beautiful cover
Wow! This is awesome; Mark Lanegan’s vocals fit this song like a glove and what a kick to see Jack go it “solo”. Great rendition, guys.
Brasileiros por aqui? Joy Division é vida pra caralho! Mark Lanegan The LEGEND!
Opa! Haha... Satisfatório demais, ver um dos ícones do cenário grunge cantando Joy division!!
E ainda com o guitarrista e baixista dos Pumpkins
Bernard Sumner is a genius of simple guitar riffs. A master.
Marks the only guy who's cover spoke the lyrics right... "Lose sensation, spare the insults, leave them for another day."..
Wow! This is not the easiest Joy Division song to cover. I only ever found two singers who can get into the Ian Curtis feeling: Peter Hook and Peter Murphy. But THIS is an amazing cover. The singing and musical arrangement are both superb. I'm going to have this on repeat for a while!
This sounds so crisp. Great cover and great recording.
My absolute favourite song of Joy Division. Really good version here.
Rip master mark 🙏🏿
Wow Lanegans voice suits this perfectly. RIP.
RIP
Lanegan's voice is so good for this. It reminded me a little of Johnny Cash's American Recordings... Maybe just cause he has a similar edge to his voice and it's a cover
Mark's voice really does this song justice. And that band is *tight*!
Wow Mark puts out more great music than time puts out minutes!
All the power of the song is as the initial version. Mark Lanegan is an extraordinary singer.
Joy Division are the few that can still sound so ambient and otherworldly 40 years after release.
Legendary voice! Can’t believe he is gone. 💔
Mark Lanegan for President.
Watching Jack just nail this is awesome, and Jeff Schroeder's technical competence here is amazing. It's almost like these guys are *too good*.
@You Like It Dark Hooky must be really, really proud. Jack's fantastic, both here, in The Light, and the Pumpkins.
The reason for the "too good" label is likely the far reaching advancements in recording technology. But the creative essence of Joy Division by Mark and Co. is captured perfectly here. Such a rare occurrence that it's chilling. Most performers cover songs in their very personal "original" way and 9 and a half times out of ten the results are nausea inducing. Here though, it's like two birds on a wire, appropriately socially distanced, conversing.
@@davidmurray2539 They really did nail this in a tone-perfect way. It’s fantastic.
Brilliant on all fronts. RIP Mark
I listen to this 2, 3 times a day. The band is On, and we all clearly love Lanegan’s interpretation.
R.I.P. Mark 😓
God I love this, on so many levels.
Wow, Mark's voice fits perfectly
I am an all time JD fan and this, my friends, is the best Disorder cover ever! Respect!
yes a real great surprise to me, I love it
This is the 1 out of 100 times that RUclips recommends me something totally sick!
Mark lanegan can sing anything man! What a great cover!
My all time favorite does my other all time favorite. Rip Mark and Ian.
You’ll be missed Mark! RIP man.
Does anyone know if he recorded anything after this? I’m wondering what he recorded last? God damn it. I’m sad about losing him.
😭😭😭😢😢😢
He did a cover of No Fun right before he died. I'm just hoping he did something else that we don't know about yet.

Rip mark and ian
Mark was involved in some Amazing Music…
Hooky does JD just perfect...Ceremony was beautiful. Big loss for NO without Hook.
To me they aren’t NO without hooky .
@@neilgregory6237 music incomplete
I loved Music Complete, but they need Hooky. It's like Depeche Mode without Alan Wilder or The Cult without Jamie Stewart.
40 yrs on bound 2 happen. But let's not kid ourselves you can't even tell here
Fucking amazing
This fuck’n rules. RIP
RIP MARK 😭
Ian would be proud of you. Superb.
Back again. Rip Lanegan
Lanegan the Goat 🐐 RIP
Damnn
Thank you Mark
Ia ser uma banda foda se firmassem
Peter e Mark 😓 fazendo shows tocando Joy
honestly thought this was gon be a shitty ass cover but damm this is so good
It is as good as the original with Joy Division. And yes that is a big surprise.
This is fantastic, and what a drummer. Love this
Fantastic
Joy division whith the sound 2021!!tks
Imagine you are the son of the bass player of Joy Division.
Rest in peace Mark
I just got recommended two Mark Lanegan videos of him covering Joy Division songs, I never knew he was a fan! LOVE IT!
RIP Ian & Mark, beautiful souls ❤
I've been waiting for a guide to come and take me by the hand
Could these sensations make me feel the pleasures of a normal man?
Lose sensations, spare the insults, leave them for another day
I've got the spirit, lose the feeling
Take the shock away
It's getting faster, moving faster now
It's getting out of hand
On the tenth floor, down the back stairs
It's a no man's land
Lights are flashing, cars are crashing
Getting frequent now
I've got the spirit, lose the feeling
Let it out somehow
What means to you, what means to me
And we will meet again
I'm watching you, I'm watching
Oh I'll take no pity from your friends
Who is right? Who can tell?
And who gives a damn right now?
Until the spirit new sensation takes hold
Then you know
Until the spirit new sensation takes hold
Then you know
Until the spirit new sensation takes hold
Then you know
I've got the spirit
But lose the feeling
I've got the spirit
But lose the feeling
Feeling, feeling, feeling, feeling, feeling, feeling, feeling
Amazing cover gentlemen. Joy Division would be proud! Rest in peace Ian Curtis.
Come back, Mark, damn it !
One of a kind. Rock In Paradise Mark
Wherever Ian is he is jubilant to see the bassist in this .
I can’t believe that voice has been silenced. We’ve been robbed. 😢 Mark Lanegan Forever…💜
❤️
I hope, wherever Mark and Ian have gone, they’re talking about their lyrics and poetry and music and art and just everything.
Thank you Mr Lanegan...
