@@Darth_Revan25 there was a documentary over here in England, called No Nirvana, and it was all the noisy American bands, in 91,just straight songs. And I saw Screaming Trees as a result. Blew my tiny 17 year old mind.
This is pretty good. Joy Division are one of those bands that if you cover one of their songs, you better do a good job. Mark Lanegan and Cold Cave did a good job.
Brilliant Edit, Just learned of Mark’s sad passing. This is the best JD cover around, their music is still to this day in 2022 so incredibly powerful. Only singers as good as these two could pull this off, Mark had both a powerful and beautiful voice and he understand the song. Love his singing. And the band totally nailed it.
This was the beginning of Covid. Does anyone know if he recorded anything more recently? My gif, it’s going to take some time to process this loss. RIP
i remember the 1st time getting a notification about this video, it was like last 10ish minutes before my mobile internet mb inspiring, 2020 was the summer i started drinking alone and i remember it all so vividly, that particular day in mid-may of 2020, walking on this long fkin road to other town, just listening to this blasting in my earphones, 2 beers down, 3rd in my hand and idk, had one too many days like that in the past 3 years of drinking but i always remember Mark being the artist i always related to the most, rip Mark
Yeah I've wanted to cover Heart and Soul sience like 04 ehh ,difficult one and not into covers unless for right reason and have connection with the song.
@z k ? sure, but you are the one playing someone else's work. there are folks out there that care about things like getting covers 100% perfect and others who really just care if you keep the vibe of the song in your own interpretation. guess what i'm trying to say is, from the fan's perspective as well as the musician's perspective, doing a cover is something that should be handled delicately with care. some fans out there will rip you apart if you dont do a faithful cover. As i'm typing this out, this popped into my mind, but covers really are similar to like how you see actors doing comic book movie roles. Comic books have already laid out the work and actors are doing their own interpretation. to say it's easy would be an understatement

EXCELLENTISSIME (sinon "monumental" : à la hauteur stratosphérique du "Sandman" rejoué par le Killmister crépusculaire et matois donnant déjà son obole à Charon! C'est dire mon enthousiasme!)! A friend gave me a copy of Unknown Pleasures as a teen in the mid to late '80s, around the same time friends were listening to Screaming Trees. This gives me the feels. Tony Wilson might have something smart to say about the two of them passing, I don't.

Wayne ~ My reactions have been so dulled by, well, isolation, that I didn't even make the obvious connection. Perfect choice for the times. But how sad it was Mark Lanegan.

Mark Lanegan should still be here. RIP, fella. 🖤
Absolutely Aidy. Truly devastating. My brother got my mum into him, then I got into him more through them. 57 is no age!

Unbelievable… RIP Mark 🖤😞🌹
It’s the way that the drums switch from electronic to acoustic and the lyric goes “if you can just see the beauty”. Great stuff

Finally, RUclips recommended something other than reaction videos and celebrities eating spicy wings. This was really great. Subbed!
Rip Mark Lanegan 💔🥺
RIP Mark Lanegan. 😔
The guitar playing was very true to Hooky's original bassline. Nicely done.
For me, the most important part.
@Abel B. yeah, you can see the four tuning pegs. think she's playing a 4 string bass and not a guitar

nuts how current mark is singing with young mark
Agreed! My thoughts too
Respect instantly. Vox Phantom in the guitar rack on the left.
great cover. i love anything Mark Lanegan.
...because Hooky played bass like a lead guitar. Killer cover, btw.
Thank you Cold Cave and Mark Lanegan. You did well.
RIP Mark Lanegan :(
Stellar. Rest In Peace Mark... Legend
The greatest Mark Lanegan
Looks like a young mark and the older one singing together... crazy
Love that you love joy division . RIP Ian and Chris. Love your new book mark, you had me roaring at times. May you never stop singing!
Gotta read it.
Where has this version been all my life!!? The fuck!
FANTASTIC COVER ,,,, RAW JUST LIKE IT SHOULD BE 👋
This cover conveys the real feeling of isolation that the song intends to portray.

Happy birthday and many more happy days to follow

Mark Lanegan singing Ian Curtis? Of course! Perfect!
Omni II is a nice touch
This deserves far more recognition!!!! Incredible!
Doing the song justice, Cheers!
Well Done! Joy Division for EVER! Although I miss the low dissonant keyboard tone of the original version.

You guys did a good job on this. You sound close to Joy Division.
Great! RIP Ian...
Well done and posted on the 40th year of Curtis’ death.
Frank Albin Kind of spooky that Mt. St. Helens in Washington blew up hours after he died too.
He was tortured with his health problems. I can only imagine he didn’t want to go on with the pain he was dealing with.

Mark Lanagan sounds good here! Good cover!
Would have loved to see Mark live.
Dude… Wish you well wherever you are. Rock on ❤️
I don't usually do bands who do JD covers......but this ain't bad.
A respectful cover of a great song- kudos lads.
At first, I was a skeptic, at the second I was won over. Wonderful rendition..Peace.

Brilliant Version, and wonderfully refreshing to see and hear two Lead Singers
Mark Lanegan: another huge fan of Joy Division. 🖤
Mark & Ian can still listen from there..
Rest in Peace Mark 🙏
The bass lines are perfect, as is the whole cover itself...

A song called Isolation during a pandemic. I see what you did there.
it's also because the songwriter tragically died 40 years ago yesterday.
