- By the time Lawrence (b. 1944) and Lawrencine Collins (b. 1942) were 11 and 13, respectively, they were already tearing it up on country package shows, recording for Columbia Records, and performing on national TV almost weekly. Older sister Lorrie held up the cowgirl fringe-rustling-against-nylons teenage sensuality department; kid brother Larry was a bundle of hyperkinetic energy, bopping all over the place while laying down exciting, twangy guitar breaks learned firsthand from the King of the Doublenecked Mosrite, Joe Maphis. As time went on, the Collins' recordings veered from mawkish brother/sister country-style duets to white-hot rockabilly, and they were just reaching their peak when Lorrie eloped, effectively breaking up the act. Revered by rockabilly collectors the world over, their filmed television appearances and recordings are testimony to the fact that the Collins Kids weren't just "good for their age," they were just plain good, period. ~ Cub Koda, All Music Guide

Never heard of them until they showed up in my RUclips feed. They're good.
Me neither. Why are they such a secret?
Having been a fan of Elvis, Little Richard, Buddy Holly and many others I can't believe I had never heard of them.
Ja też! Pytanie : czy gdyby Oni dostali się w ręce Parkera, zostali by tak samo sławni jak Elvis? Myślę,że tak! Są super!!
Still enjoy them in 2024
In loving memory to them both.
That kid has more energy than Angus Young! He's quite the showman and plays well and his sister's good too. Hard to believe they didn't go on to become one of the top acts of the 1950's.
Davilo...I agree. These two should have be Super Stars. Obviously a poor manager. Didn't Lorrie end up marrying him after her folks broke her and Ricky Nelson up?
What became of them ??!
I'm starting to think Angus young rubbed it off from Larry.
@@blainelytle341 - They're still playing together. Their videos are all over RUclips.
@@anthonymessina2834 Lorrie passed away a few years ago
What a showman and prolific guitar player Larry was. His sister was lovely as the day is long and a beautiful voice. Both were so charismatic and I am amazed that I was not aware of them until about a year ago. They were great icons of Rockabilly.
Can't believe they were not shown more in the 1950's... they rock.
Joe Sparacio they were signed to Columbia, but unfortunately in the Mitch Miller era, who hated rock and really didn't know what to do with a rockabilly act. Larry did go on to write "Delta Dawn" years later.
Wow, I'm loving this in 2021, they were stars before I was born!!
Born in 55 ... Never heard of them , that surprise's me as I've researched a lot of music from that time period !
This is NOT Town Hall Party, it's Western Ranch Party. But it's still the Collins Kids. The man who introduced him was Tex Ritter, John Ritter's (Three's Company and 8 Simple Rules) dad.
That's right..!
For all his great talent, he can also move that head. High energy. Never seen anyone like him.
She looks very amused and entertained by her little energetic brother. Then she goes on and sings and dates Ricky Nelson, Mr. Mellow! What a contrast.
How did this duo not become world - famous???
Супер здорово! Никогда раньше не слышал. Кайф полный!
Collins kids une decouverte ,je ne connaissais pas ,,,, ce jeune gars est incroyable ...
That Larry Collin s boy wrote the book on dancing 😅
That kid Larry can play that guitar great moves too
R.I.P Lorrie
That one hurt I found out about 2 or 3 weeks after she passed. All I heard was that she died at home from complications of a fall. She was still a very active person in music and with family. It just doned on me it's will be a year in a couple of weeks.
I think Captain Beefheart instructed Rocket Morton, Winged Eel Fingerling, and all his bands of magicians to take inspiration from Larry Collins's stage-dancing.
Love the guitar riffs at the beginning of the song...very energetic!
So im 62, where have yall been all my life?
It would be amazing to see one of these Collins Kids videos colorized.
Lorrie had that Oklahoma beauty. It’s different than most places and California is number one in miss Americas and Oklahoma is tied for number one with 6 miss Americas .
After watching Volumes 1,2 & 3 of "The Collins Kids At Town Hall Party" (Bear Family Records), I have to say that Lorrie is one of the genuinely prettiest girls I have ever seen. She had that authentic "girl next door" sweet personality that enhanced her physical beauty well beyond any "Beauty Queen".
Keep in mind... Tens of thousands of "Okies" traveled to California from the 30's-60's. Might help explain that connection of okla and california girls 🙂
david smith Well Okies also meant Texas Arkansas Kansas etc. I think it comes from that old southern source of people choosing or arranged marriages? But they are pretty in California and if you check her lineage her grandpa and grandma were Okies.
Another hidden jewel
there's noway that the Energizer bunny would be able to keep up with Larry, lol.
😀👌😁
Watch out David lee Roth, this kid is wild.
Good to hear that they used Bill Haley's alternate lyrics!
Oh my, they were entertaining.
El pequeño gran Rey del rock abilly, Larry
Stop giving that kid sweet tea
caramba! lembra muito o Elvys!
Rip Larry Collins and Lorrie
Judging by Larry’s movements and playing style- the question is who came first Larry or Chuck Berry? Since Chuck was a grown man when this happened, I’m guessing it’s Chuck. Maybe?
Geniales 😊 😊 👏 👏
"like a one-eyed cat peekin' in a seafood store"...I wonder if she ever figured out what that referred to...????
good question..jaja
Well, she did get married to her manager at age 16...
It mean exactly what it says a one eyed cat peeping in a sea food store you can make it mean anything you want but that doesn't make it true.
I think you need to do a little bit of research before you make any more comments...
What does it refer to?
Larry wrote Delta Dawn
I like this. What the young boys name?
Is that Tex Ritter in the intro?
Yes, John Ritter's Dad.
Во делают супер
👍👵👍🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊
What year was this?
👍👧👍
Ковбойский музон✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼
When was this?
Some time after the Civil War, IIRC...
i think elvis and chuck ripped off larry lol
Nobody enjoyed watching the Collins Kids more than I did, but really. They were singing that song because Elvis sang it, not the other way around.
Angus Young must have seen these on TV before he started playing
Chuck stole moves from the kid.
I believe that's the 1st guitar player to use cocaine
un regal a ecouter
...get out of your bed and wash your face and hands - gosh, that was too dirty back then...
She uses Bill Haley's alternate lyrics: "Get out in that kitchen and rattle those pots and pans...".
@@qkahunaq
Gosh, your answer is 10 years late, haha.
Maybe they didn't even know the original lyrics...
@@markusr7421 LOL, I just now saw the post.
they could have madeaa lot of money in the r&r field
instead they stayed in poedunk country working for food
I guess podunk country was Los Angeles. That's where they're from.
