Two suggestions, I think, might've made this better...... 1. If the same handles were smaller, 2. If the feet were longer so they'd make it stand out taller
@@Breezyaon1Thank you for watching and for the feedback! And that is why I love DIYs, the same piece can be modified to fit the style and space for anyone just by changing some of the smaller details 🙌🏼
I can’t believe how great this cabinet turned out!! Great Job Honey! ❤️👏🏼🙌🏼 it looks so good and it’s the perfect piece for us! Can’t wait to see the next video!!! 🥳😘
Absolutely amazing. Such a beautiful piece with all the work you put into it. It's perfect!!! Love all the time u take to ensure it's a lasting piece with all the sanding and extra poly coats.
@@crowninterior_ldn6971 They are called half round mouldings, I have the link to specific ones I used in the description box as well. I hope this helps 🙌🏼
Hi Yasmin, just found your channel and subscribed. You did an great job on this sideboard, I love it...Watching from Ontario, Canada....Take care...cheers !!!
This turned out great! I want to recreate something like this for my home. The only thing for me is the “ and um” it was a little distracting once I noticed it. But over all really stunning cabinet!
Thank you Tee’s Adventures 😊 So glad you like the way the cabinet turned out and it has inspired you to recreate your own 🙌🏼 Also thank you for the feedback, I will definitely try to improve in future videos 🙏🏼
This came out amazing!!! Thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge! I'm going to attempt this. I have three questions though - did adding the dowels cause the cabinet to be front heavy? If so, did you have to secure the finished cabinet to the wall? What size dowels did you use?
Thank you, Caty 😊 I’m glad you found the video helpful and that you’re going to try this yourself! Yes, adding the dowels made the cabinet doors heavy however only if both doors were to be open at the same time. We did secure the cabinet to the wall but we were planning to do that anyway as we do with most furniture pieces for safety especially as we live in CA. The dowels I used were 3/8 x 3/4 x 96 inches. Hope this helps 🙌🏼
Hey your video was my inspiration. I made it too. It looks fantastic. Can you please let me know how did you attach it to the Wall? It got very front heavy and is tipping.
So glad you found this video inspiring affy syeda 🙌🏼 I used L brackets and long screws to attach the cabinet to the wall directly into the studs to make sure it’s secure (similar to earthquake fastening kits for furniture that are used for safety).
Hey there 😊 So we actually drilled pilot holes first through the fluting and the actual cabinet door and that helped prevent any wood splitting when screwing the handles in. Hope this helps, and thank you for watching 🙌🏼
Hey affy syeda, I'm sorry you're having a hard time finding the mouldings for your project. I would suggest checking your local hardware stores as well as online (I'm seeing similar ones on Lowe's/Home Depot sites). You can also use different mouldings (instead of half round). Other options to achieve a similar look would be wooden dowels or pole wrap! I used 1inch nails for this project to make sure they weren't too long to poke from behind the cabinet door, but I suggest customizing this depending on the thickness of the mouldings you use and your cabinet. I hope this helps & thank you for watching 😊
the fluted cabinet front look you came up with kicks ass! HD discontinued it, clicked your link and was wanting to buy a bunch for kitchen cabinets asap :(
Aww thank you DooD, I’m so glad you like the fluted look as much as I do 😊 Bummer about the dowels I linked not being available. But I know both Home Depot and Lowe’s sell those in stores as well in variety of sizes that might work better for your cabinets so I would check them out 🙌🏼 Hope this helps!
Thank you so much MaeMali 😊 The handles I used are about 13inches which I got on Amazon and there should be a link to them in the description box in case you are interested 🙌🏼
I looks great. You could have used the 1 x 12 and used some of your half round mouldings as a trim around it to make it the right size. But it looks good the way you did it too.
Thank you erphilcox ! And that’s a great idea I didn’t even think of that, thank you for the suggestion 😊 definitely something to consider for my next projects 🙌🏼
Schaut wirklich sehr toll aus. Habe auch 2 ivar Schränke und will diese verschönern. Ich mache die obere Platte in einem Stück, keine 3 Teile. Ist praktischer. Komme aus Bayern.
Did you drill through the dowels and mdf to install the handles? What type of drill did you use? Also, did you put polyeurethane coating on the front of the piece, or just on the top? Thanks. Beautiful job!
Yes I drilled through the dowels and the door itself to install the handles; I matched the screw size from the handle to the right drill bit for this. I used poly spray for the front because regular poly most likely would’ve lodged and clumped in between the dowels and that’s not a great look. I used regular poly for the top; I have both products linked in the description box. And thank you for watching Barbara, I’m so glad you like the outcome as much as I do 😊🙌🏼
I used total 40 of Pine Half Round Mouldings 3/8in x 3/4in x 96inch. I could only get 2 pieces cut from each moulding for this project to be the desired size. Though I have a lot of left overs and planning to use them in future DIYs. Hope this helps Alisa 😊🙌🏼
Looks great! How much were those wooden dowels when you purchased them? They are really expensive now from everywhere I have looked. The link you provided says they are now discontinued.
Thank you Kelly! I’m so glad you like the cabinet 😊 I got the wooden dowels online from HomeDepot.com at the time and I think total cost was ~$160. I’m so sorry that those are discontinued now, wooden dowels do tend to be expensive. You can always go for half the dowels and slightly different look with spaces between the dowels to lower the cost. I hope this helps 🙌🏼
Thank you for watching Rhonda 😊 I customized the top to fit the width of the window and to maximize space but it can definitely be DIYed to fit the width of the cabinets instead 🙌🏼
I think she did an amazing job, the piece is beautiful, but I agree with you. Not necessarily the marble look, but the size. In my opinion the top being the same size as the cabinet would have looked much better and balanced. However again, great job Yasmin!
Thank you Michellemarie70! I’m glad you like the overall look of the cabinet 😊 and totally there are so many ways to go about the top (different size or material) and I think that’s the beauty of DIY and being able to customize! Thank you for watching 🙌🏼
Hi there! I’m so glad you love the cabinet and I hope you give it a try for your own space 😊 Since I did this project 7-8months ago I don’t remember the exact cost but I got the IKEA cabinets from the as-is section for a little cheaper than their normal retail price. And I think the wooden dowels and shiplap for the top came out to ~ $200 for both. Hope this helps 🙌🏼
You could literal just use sandpaper on a sanding block, hammer and nails, screwdriver and a handsaw. Which in my opinion sound be just as common as a fridge. 🙃 I saw ur comment before the video was finished and expected so see a table saw, planer, tracksaws, routers and so on. But no, simple hand tools.
If you’re watching this video then you’re at least interested in doing DIY and if you don’t have or don’t want to invest in some basic tools to do it then perhaps you would want another hobby.
Everything 👌but the shiplap. A recycled piece of (untreated/foodsafe) wood, something salvaged...anything but the shiplap - which is unsupported in the middle and is going to absolutely sag over time. Also grooves in any kind of tabletop is a big nono (watch where dust/dirt/debris is going to settle and try to clean it)
Love the fluted cabinet doors. I would have finished the inside of the cabinets to match the outside look. Sorry, but tongue and groove is too flimsy for the top and detracts from the beautiful fluting you did. The good thing is you can redo the top it's only a few boards. 😊
Thank you for watching Susan 😊 I definitely appreciate the feedback and I’m learning more with each DIY project on what materials to use and how to make it better everytime! The fluting is for sure the star of the show for this cabinet makeover 🙌🏼
