    I made one of these inspired by your video. I found one major change made it so much easier. I sanded & stained all my pieces before assemble. I used clear Gorilla wood glue so no visible glue marks. Lastly I used Minwax spray polyacrylic in satin. I also backed my wood dowels with a layer of cardboard just for added stability. The wood dowels were glued to that also. Like you I had to buy a smaller dowel to fill in the last space. The biggest trick though is to pre-stain all your wood pieces & use clear wood glue. I and everyone who sees my new coffee table are completely in love with it. Thank you so much for the inspiration & instructions!

    Tip, I work with wood a lot and this is a great DIY I am definitely going to make a smaller one for an in table I already have a nice coffee table that I reworked make yourself a nice circle on the inside of the top and the bottom before you attach the inside supports that way you can follow those lines to make sure your dowel is in line on the top in the bottom :-) The table would also look cute with a little short round legs

    So cool. I'd like to make this type of table with the pedestal dowels a little closer to the center, so it looks more like a spool. You could attach 2 smaller pine rounds (or MDF rounds) centered inside the 3' rounds used for the top and the base, and then push your dowels right up to the rounds when gluing them in, like a template. Maybe use 24" or 30" rounds. Should result in a perfectly round pedestal, and you won't need as many dowels, because of the smaller diameter. Make sure you decrease the height of the frame to account for the extra rounds.

    This is the type of project where you would almost be better off staining the individual pieces before putting it all together; especially the dowels. It is so easy to pull the dowel through your clenched hand while holding a rag with some stain on it.

  • @yashulgautamsharma
    @yashulgautamsharma 3 года назад +1

    Lovely!! I just hope the dowels stay, i mean they dont have any rear top and bottom support, you could have put a big circular piece of wood maybe to which the dowels would bond, maybe even have small nails go through the dowels and into the rear circular wood piece. All the best for future endeavors! :)

    • @UnsophisticatedDIY
      @UnsophisticatedDIY  3 года назад

      Hmmm.... If I were trying to create one with storage, I would use a large concrete form (picked up from Lowes they are cardboard) and glue 1/2 round moldings on the concrete form directly.
      Then I would cut out a small square in the concrete form, glue the half rounds to that and have that be a hidden storage section. You might even be able to have little hinges on it so it opens seamlessly.
      I *think* that would work out. 🤔
