Just purchased my first pistol yesterday and thanks to this video I was confident making that purchase a Norinco NP22, very hard to find right now I got the last one in the store!
Just bought another NP22 for the safety course. This one has a lighter & smoother trigger. The finish isn't as nice as my first one though. Seems the new verdict is they vary from gun to gun.... Bought it from SFRC and happy with the service and price. That's my update!!
Glad the Streamlight works, not sure what they were trying to do with the rail in the first place. Just ordered more Norincos. A M305 B (M14) and one of their SKS'. I will do a review on the M14 in a week or two.
How does the np-22 compare to the 1911? i hve a norinco 1911 and was considering getting one of these np-22s. To bad about the rail, because i kinda wanted to mount a light on it. great job on the videos keep them comming
@roninpainbringer I have a review already filmed but I haven't uploaded it because it sucks. I don't have a lot of experience with 1911's but I do have a couple of buyer's tips. I think I'll edit it and call it a buyer's note or something.
Thanks for the comment!! Ya, the DA pull is stagey to say the least. It stops and starts all the way through but never a failure to fire. That's what counts. And for $349 with 2 mags?? WTF!
@@firstlastname4564 everyone ive spoken to about these say it'll eat anything and take a beating. But like all firearms, take care of it and it should last you a long time.
@NovaScotiaNewfie Good that you can transport them across the border in case you have friends down there and want to go for a shoot here and then or you want to take a course. Not sure about CDN transport laws. As far as I know for Restricted fire arms as I said before you have to get a permit to take it to the range and gun smith only?
I still like the NP22, the 1911 is a completely different gun. Both are good and the price warrants having both if you can afford it. I think the workmanship is slightly rougher on the 1911 but as I said..well worth the price.
@NovaScotiaNewfie The reason you can only take your restricted firearm "to the range and gunsmith" is because that's all your long term ATT (Authorized to Transport) covers. You can apply to get alternate short term ATT's to take you gun to another province/city for competition, or across the border for comp/courses/etc. But you still need to obey the local laws, and the US has had some issues with Norinco guns in the past, so you'll want to check that before getting to the border :)
@civiladvantage I've picked up a few Norincos from SFRC(M305 & M93 woodsman) as well as a Tokarev and their service has been great every time, they have sales and discount codes all the time too. Would recommend them to anyone
Maybe its a weaver rail, instead of picatinny, could explain the no fits. weaver usually fits on picatinny, but picatinny wont usually fit on weaver....
I've had an NP22 for almost a year now. It's my first handgun and as a first time handgun shooter, I'd say it's accuracy is decent. At 25 yards, I'm consistantly hitting inside a 10" circle. Have you found that the finish is wearing off? I sent it back for blueing, and after 2 shoots, I'm noticing some wearing again.
Quick note: I've been seeing comments on other NP22 vids that the magazines are interchangeable with P226 mags. I tried interchanging both ways and there was scrapage (new word). I won't say that they all don't fit because I only tried one either way. I will try again possibly this weekend and report back.
@GhostsofOnyx Thanks I was just asking i don't own a Norinco. I think that the US won't allow importation of them even if you're going in for a course or competition in the US. At least I thought I read that or heard that in a you tube channel but of course when it comes to firearm laws go to the source the government and confirm all rules and laws :D.
@01051987omar No actual external safety. The safety on a double action pistol is the long, heavy trigger pull when the hammer is forward. An additional safety is the decocking lever which safely lowers the hammer for you without discharging the firearm. Many people believe that the double action is the safest.
I have heard dry fireing the guns is bad. and I do avoid it but when I am storing my guns I pull the trigger to relieve the hammer is it ok to do this.?
+Shon Dee My understanding is that only .22s suffer from damage due to dry firing. Most centerfire firearms won't have an issue. However, to avoid wear to the internals, the use of snapcaps is a good idea.
Just some info for everyone. Got the pistol from SFRC and extra Sig magazines from Cabelas, and they don't work with each other. I believe the mag hold/release tab location is a bit off. Gonna take a file to the magazine and will update.
I ordered 3 mags from MarStar (p226 mags) and they take care of the filing and test fitting in the shop. they fit actually better than the Norinco stock mags.
I have a small silly question about this gun, I have no real experience with guns but my question is does that gun has a safety button or not ? I would decide to buy it or not according to the answer ...
No, the mag release is slightly off from the P226, having said that, for the p226's to work in the NP22 you have to file the release catch just a smidge in order for it to lock.
Canadians can take them across he border I thought for restricted weapons your permits only allow you to travel to the range and to a gun smith from home and that's it.

Great review Rod, just picked one of these up. Can't wait to take it out and put it to the test.

Shot this gun today, the quality is actually pretty good and it shot very well... zero malfunctions and I was shooting quite accurately with it.

thank you for the video. Im torn between this one and a 1911 np-29, but i think you've settled that argument for me.

Hopefully more Norincos will make it into Canada. I just bought a NP 22 9mm and waiting for it to arrive. Any thing to let me know about it?

So we can say even tho it's made in Chiner its still as durable as the p226?

Have you been able to find a weapon light that fits the NP22?
everyone hates one norinco but they go bang everytime the finish can be a little rough but they work

Great videos! Have you tried the NP34 yet?

I've had no issues with finish. I've had it for about a year. Maybe they've improved that. how old is your's?
Streamlight TLR-3 works on mine. A good affordable light option.
any reviews on the np 29 by chance
Dat video quality tho lol.
Glad you stepped your game up lately rob lol
I have heard dry fireing the guns is bad. and I do avoid it but when I am storing my guns I pull the trigger to relieve the hammer is it ok to do this.?
Shon Dee I dryfire the hell out of everything. No issues for me. Lots of guys say not to do it but from experience I've never had a problem.

older guns suffer too.
I'll give that a try, thanks!!!
Nice review - keep it up

@civiladvantage NP58 is not a 1911 clone. It's the 40 cal p226 clone.
Yes,they work great!!!!

I have a small silly question about this gun, I have no real experience with guns but my question is does that gun has a safety button or not ?

SFRC is the bomb!
True.
Are the magazine work on sig p226?
