It's so good to hear you talk about firearms instead of politics. Not that I disagree with you, but it just feels like we're almost back to enjoying our guns without having to worry about a handful of zealots. Great review about a rifle we can legally own and use. Looking forward to watching your future reviews!
@@georgejulien3286 You don't get it, they can do both. Dwelling on how garbage our laws are and how much worse they've gotten the last few years is a demoralizing thing. We can enjoy a review of a firearm brought to us by the same people who bring a reasonable voice that speaks for us.
Rod is back! Nice to see you again brother. I know you’re doing important work at the CCFR, but it’s so great to see you in this space on Civil Advantage again :) By the way you might enjoy the MLOK quick release adapters from Kinetic Development Group. They’re short rails you can put on your MLOK and love them around at will with just a couple buttons. No fiddling with the screws you’d otherwise see on MLOK. I tired them myself and they’re quite nifty :)
Wow, a Civil Advantage video! I thought you were done. Good thing I kept it in my favourites. Good to see you back where you started and hope to see more.
Couldn't agree more on this rifle. I set mine up basically identical to my 180 with sights, magnifier, grip, NGAL etc. The weight and ergonomics make it wonderful to train without costing much at all. I found the skills transferred 1:1 except a tiny fraction of the cost. My drill times dropped steadily then I tested on the 223 with some recoil, zero difference. Great review.
Welcome back Rod. My TM-22 loves CCI Standard velocity. It's an accurate rifle and cheap to feed. I can shoot a 4" steel target at 200 yards all day. I just cleaned it for the first time after 1,200 rounds.
Thanks for this review Rod. I picked one up recently. Make sure to drop a 1" washer between the buffer tube and the rubber stopper behind the bolt. This prevents the rubber stopper from going into the buffer tube and the bolt travelling too far back (taking the charging handle out).
Extremely good review. Thanks for the very important work you are doing with the ccfr. You are also a very good reviewer. High quality content and a pleasure to watch.
I bought the same rifle, in Stormtrooper white for my daughter. It's awesome. Great value for the money. Looks cool and shoots pretty damn accurate. I found the Federal Champion 40g work best in her rifle.
So glad to see you doing this video - thank you! I have enjoyed your videos forever and was even fortunate enough to meet you at AFGC years ago. I always wanted to train with you but never got around trying to sign up for anything until it was too late and Civil Advantage courses were no more. I and many others appreciate what you do and what you have done for all of us.
The TM-22 is a fantastic rifle for its price point. Reliable, easy to shoot and accurate. Wife & I love it. Only downside I have found was the charging handle, it tends to back out if you don't use Loctite. Learned that lesson the hard way and watched it fly out into the range bay. Ended up getting an aftermarket that is larger.
I just machined a new one out of brass and it looked so great, but it will not stay tight :'( Haven't had that issue with the original though. How is the larger one?
Hey Rod, so great to see you doing a review. For the m-lok there are quick release mounts for them now for lights and other attachments they are pretty slick.
Great to see a review, Rod! Even if you only do one a month or even just once a year, we’ll always appreciate it. Our colleagues and our team would love to see a video featuring your thoughts on: - The new Black Creek Labs rifles, especially the updated 2024 models - the SRV2 Badger and SRV2 Grizzly. - The Lockhart Tactical Raven 9 with its latest bolt carrier update. - The CZ Bren 2 DMR in .308 There have been impressive claims about these rifles’ durability and high round count capabilities. For instance, one report mentioned that the previous SRV2 Siberian could handle up to 10,000 rounds before experiencing any significant barrel wear. Note: it is refreshing to see what MOA 1.2 rating on this type of rifle, on the SRV2 Siberian. and it is refreshing to see on EPIK ARMS review, that SRV2 Siberian was getting such a nice accuracy with inexpensive bulk ammo PMC Bronze. Additionally, we've heard claims about the Raven 9 reaching 40,000+ rounds with sustained performance. Hearing your take or a CCFR's member take on these models and their real-world reliability and features or review would be invaluable! And not just a review in terms of how they stack up against other rifles on DAY 1, at the moment of purchase, and only at that moment, with the idea that one day you can just get another rifle. But these rifles stack up, specifically in Canadian firearms ecosystem, in terms of long term serviceability from the perspective of finding long .. lifetime rifles that are always serviceable DIY style. Or "everlasting" in nature or "enduring" and "timeless". The ideal Canadian rifle in this category should be classical, standard, enduring, durable, everlasting and timeless. After all.. we need to know how they stack up in Canadian firearm ecosystem, not the reviews out there that compare it against American options and are made for Americans.
Rod I’ve been watching you since I was 15 getting my juniors license. Now I’m 21 and I’m getting my restricted license this year. And I’ve always been a fan of your reviews and this one is a nice breath of fresh air. Would love to have a range day with you.
I have one of these deryas and its a beast. Ive put almost ten thousand rounds since february, i detail stripped it and greased it thoroughly when i took it out of the box i didnt clean again until 6000 rounds. At the 30 meter pistol range with a 1x prism sight it grouped 3/8" on 15 round while taking my time. I have a gsg-16 too. Mine was a jam-o-matic until i quit using oil. I brakecleaned all the oil off the bolt and parts. ran coating of g96 grease all over the reciprocating component and its been flawless i clean it every 3-4000 rounds. I grease almost everything instead of oil these day
Great video Rod! I like mine as well. I can confirm it comes with a 10 round magasin. Mine runs Remington golden bullet flawlessly but Federal automatic not as great. Those failed to eject every 5-10 rounds. I didn't like the over-travel of the trigger. I've added a spacer behind it to limit the travel to about a mm after it breaks.
Great video and great review, Rod! I bought my TM-22 AL18 for the exact same reason as you. As my AR is now a Safe Queen, I've been running the WK's (Both Gen 1 and 2) as a substitute. As you mentioned, .223/5.56 can get expensive to run while training. Thus why I bought the TM-22. I was looking for a good rimfire substitute and though not along the same lines as an AR or WK it was something.....yes, the same plastic one you were talking about. It was reliable and great to shoot but also too light and not comparable to my WK's in length and feel. I wanted a Ruger SR-22 but even when they were available, they were expensive back then, but it had that full sized, modern "Sporting" rifle feel to it. Finally Derya came out with the TM-22 and then finally the TM-22 AL18 (Adjustable stock, full Length handguard, 18 inch barrel). This was the rifle I was looking for. It even had a threaded barrel (not sure what I would put on there). I configured my TM the same as my WK's, so I can train accurately with it. Same optics and other accessories as I equipped my WK's. My round of choice is the CCI Mini Mags as well. I find they run very well in all my rimfire semi's. I have used some Eley and SK's for 100 yd shots and they group a little tighter than the Mini Mags, but I am grouping about 1.5 - 1.75 MOA. I use a Bushnell AR223 3-9 X 40 on a QD cantilever mount. This way I can remove the optic to tear down the rifle for cleaning and inspection (I have an earlier unit that I had to replace the bolt stop and buffer pad in...O'Dell Engineering has amazing customer service!!!) so that the optic holds zero, provided you place it in the exact same spot on the picatinny rail. I also upgraded the bolt handle with a custom aluminum unit one of the guys on the TM FB sight made and used a stainless steel cap screw to secure it to the bolt. The TM is still a little lighter than my equipped WK's but still close enough to train with. As you mentioned, it has an excellent trigger and I also love the safety on it. You are correct, it comes with two metal 10 round magazines with 15 and 25 round mags available. The 15 and 25 round mags were available in metal but the feed lips were spreading on them, so they replaced them with the polymer mags. The magazines can be disassembled for cleaning as well. Aside from the bolt stop issue (O'Dell took care of me with that) I have not had any issues with the rifle. It's reliable, accurate and has the same feel as my other "Sporting" rifles. Again, thanks for a great video and if I don't see you before then, I'll see you at TACCOM 2025. Take care, keep safe and keep up the great work!!
This was awesome... I want to get one of these (when I can lol) and I also want a tm22 lever action to go with it. They take the same magazines so you can run 25 in the lever as well.
I own one with a fixed stock. Great little gun! Runs decent on Aguila as well, it's what I use. Hates federal automatch though, bolt doesn't open back far enough to feed the next bullet with Federal half the time for mine. Aguilas got a great price and rarely gives me issues.
How do you just go into the woods and shoot? In our province you have to have the correct licence, firearm, and ammo and be in season for the given game.
Ban semi-auto centre fore rifles with a buyback program over say a 5 year period. Also if an owner trades in his rifle for a bolt action he should get no HST and maybe another 10 - 20 % off if he buys Canadian rifles.
Why this vs a gsg15 whose mags are the same dimensions as a normal evil modern sporting rifle design and its controls are somewhat similar (vs the gsg16 mp5 clone👎)
Didn't this gun end up on the latest ban list? Hopefully all this gun ban crap is gone soon and we can get back to enjoying our guns as the law abiding citizens we are.

This was unexpected! Welcome back to the channel Rod 😂
It’s been a long time and we missed you so much. ❤❤❤
Great review Rod! Don't wait 7 years to do another one!
It really is great to have you back! Your original videos got me started collecting and shooting. PS: my wife does not approve of this added expense.
Good to have you making video again Rod!
Nice to see you back buddy, and just the other day I was thinking of unsubscribing 😂😂😂glad i did not
Man, time flies. I found your channel here back when I was in high school haha.

Great to see you back. I don't understand why nobody's mentioned that the bolt doesn't hold open on these and you have to rip the mag out each time.
You're right, I had that in my list but forgot to mention it. :(

fantastic review, thanks muchly, quick question, i really like the roof mounted sun shade, what brand is that ? thanks
my god. rod, i thought you had forgotten your password at this point XD

Civil Advantage review coming up in my feed like its 2016 lol
Makes me consider this one over my gsg16 🤔
If I’m not mistaken your scope mount is backwards
In before Rod
❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
This is a nice change to normality. Hopefully this is our only concern soon.
How did you get that green camo version? Never seen one for sale in Canada
Derya shotgun = AR variant (prohib). TM22 not (NR)?
never clicked so fast before
Rod, please have a better Data Storage Plan/Solution.
Yes agreed
First!!!
And it is not on the Dec 5th OIC list
4:20 like in the U.K.

They are okay of a rifle but mine shoots out of battery and than boom I get gun powder I my face
Why this vs a gsg15 whose mags are the same dimensions as a normal evil modern sporting rifle design and its controls are somewhat similar (vs the gsg16 mp5 clone👎)
I stand corrected lol now that I realized this is metal and not plastic. My gsg15 has been nothing but perfect but I am around the 4 or 5k round count
Right on Rod, I've been looking at those for sometime now, lol. I'll be adding one to my heard, hahaha 👍.
