Epic Pickup Truck Camper Makeover: What $1500 Can Do! - Part 4 - Budget & Wrap up

- Last year I sold my RV at the beginning of the year.
I needed a place to stay and sleep while working at the drop zone. My initial plan was to sleep in my station wagon. Then my father in law died and I ended up buying his old truck.
This is the transformation of that truck as a truck camper for me to sleep in at the drop zone and while doing parks on the air far from home.
Time to wrap this up!
On this one I cover the budget and the final setup.

Nice build Carlos. Maybe fish hooks to hold the fan? The barbless type so they are easy to remove and move. Those window seals might be proprietary to the topper manufacturer. Check with them or maybe a local auto glass shop.
Fishing hooks. I'm trying to envision how. Can you elaborate a bit? I'll call ARE and see what they say about the seals, I hadn't even thought about calling them and that is the logical place to go.
Great job Carlos! @ShooterReady has the right idea with the glass seal issue. Unfortunately, using RTV or something similar typically doesn't work as a long term solution. I know from experience. Thought on the fan: if you have an extendable curtain rod maybe that could hold the fan near the cab side window? Or will heavy duty velcro (hook side) grip the carpet enough to use strips to secure the lights and maybe the fan? I'm sure you'll figure it out!
The sides of the walls taper out on the way down so I think that an extendable curtain rod would just slip. I'll see if there is one around here and give it a test though.
Good job young man 👏👏👏
Gracias Viejita.
This was a great series of videos man! Thank You!
Glad you like them!
Hi Carlos. Just a thought, but would the airport allow you to use one of those portable carports? Parking in it would help with shade, rain and some privacy.
That's a thought. I need to look into it. I wonder how much those are and how hard they are to pack up, setup, and take down.
