- On Friday, 17th of May 2024 I had the distinct pleasure of having a chat with Everton (KD2ZZT). Everton is a teacher at Staten Island Technical High School (www.siths.org/). He is also one of the teachers that has been through @ARRLHQ Teacher's Institute. If you can, donate to the ARRL's Education & Technology Fund - home.arrl.org/action/Donate/E...
That's an excellent interview to highlight the efforts of the ARRL Teachers Institute in introducing and licensing youth in amateur radio. The program's initiatives to engage students in STEM through hands-on learning with radio technology are commendable and vital for fostering the next generation of ham radio enthusiasts. Thank you, Everton and Carlos!
He blew me away when he said "One hundred kids in amateur radio". That is *amazing*.
Fantastic demonstration how one person can have such a positive impact on our hobby.
A massive impact. Now imagine 10 Evertons in each class that Teachers Institute holds. We need more Evertons.
First off, thanks Carlos for all that you do - I personally watched a large group of kids get super excited and inspired by the airborne contacts that they were able to make with you! Thanks for spreading the word and also inspiring me! - Everton, KD2ZZT
Are you saying you want to go Parachute Mobile with me? 😃
Great way to give back to the hobby. He's doing a marvelous job.
He is killing it. One hundred high school kids with licenses, that is amazing.
Thanks for sharing the word!
Thank you for spreading it.
Yes, I vote for “Yutes On The Air!” or YOTA. 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
I made a donation during K8MRD's stream last year. And, the teacher who hosts my club at the local high school for Field Days has been thru 2 courses at TI.
Outstanding!
Too funny, Carlos! 😂
“Yutes On The Air!” sounds like a really good thing!
I’m looking forward to seeing the Blue Angels in Annapolis tomorrow(May 22) and then see the Washington Nationals on Friday. Still trying to get over the jet lag and still a little sore from all the traveling around that I’ve been doing.
Great video, Carlos’ 🎉🤙🏻
Thank you!
Great interview, great program. It's a long term task but it's paying dividends already. Keep up the great job. 73 de Santiago
I wish I had more teachers like him when I was in school.
Great job, Everton!
Impressive. On one hand I hope that he continues to teach and mentor the youth. On the other hand I know that he could make 10x his salary in the private sector so I'm going to cheer him as much as I can. Even if he were to go to the private sector he has already made a significant impact.
That's awesome.
Thanks Mike. Everton is super cool, did you get a chance to meet him?
@@LifeAtTerminalVelocity I did not, unfortunately.
Wait so Goodgame K5ATA called his students padawans, and then you go and interview someone from SITHS? Nice.
You are the 1st to get it. I put that link on there on purpose.
