Lol at people comparing this with other cars and complaining about top speed and such. This is not supposed to be a competitor to BMW M-series or Audi RS or anything like that. This is a damn wagon for family driving and everyday commuting with safety in mind. The T5 model is just so you have an option to buy a car like that and still be able to pass slower cars on the highway.
Well Volvo wants to set on 4 Bangers for all their cars now. With different variance of tuning/boost. They sure as hell have to make sure, that there are no reliablity issues with the motor.
Funny how the volvos are limited according to the engine you buy. The D5 is limited to 245 spedo, despite it is weaker than this, but it's the strongest diesel so they let you run a bit more. Wonder what the weaker gasoline engines are limited to
Volvo has NEVER been about 0 to 100-records, they really dont care about it. If you buy a Volvo for their acceleration you bought something wrong. My 20 year old manual BMW 528i with 193hp is faster than this car.
which part did you doubt? the e39 528 i had did 0-100 in 7,5 seconds, you can look it up. well the old S60R/V70R was kind of fast with 0-100 in 5,7/5,9 sec if you had a manual. the automatic versions was pretty slow only doing it in 7,5/7,7 seconds
@@iamjesper Hmm ok. Thankfully the T6 is doing 0-60's in around 6 seconds and the T8 around 5 seconds. The automatics of the older R models were slower mainly because they had much less torque I believe.
My D4 V90 (190hp/400Nm) has the same topspeed. I guess it’s limited tot 236 because it reaches this number uphill of downhill. It is an amazing car but indeed not the fastest.
My 2.5ft V70 230+ hp was limited to 210. Volvo is boring that way, they do put limits on their cars. Even their newer modells, with over 300hp I've been told they are limited to 180 or 190 something.
My 150 hp TDI (skoda octavia)can go up to that speed too without any problems and the Volvo has 100 hp more from a gasoline engine i guessed there should be some more juice in it at least 250

I guess it's fast enough up to 200 and frankly that's more than enough for most people. But I wonder much can you tune the T5 with software?

Thats not the point, the old T5 was actually a 5 cylinder engine, compared to this 4 cylinder being branded as a T5.
Please bring back the 5 & 6 cylinder engine!
More cylinder is more horsepower.
A 4-cylinder will always be a 4-cylinder. If you want 0-200 in around 20 seconds then get a 6-cylinder.

Have you ever driven a T8 Volvo in Power mode? They accelerate like rockets... ;)

Yes but the Volvo is 400 kg heavier than Octavia. I have that engine too (Skoda Octavia 150 TDI DSG) :)
