great cabin for such a small 767! I did fly in the recent past a lot with Martinair 767 ER from Amsterdam to Havana in their 'Star Class'. Nice service but no full sleepers.
hello from down under (Australia). Congratulations on 10k! Qantas and Air New Zealand only ever flew 762 and 763, so I'm jealous you flew in 764! great trip report, quite detailed and informative!!
Congratulations Mr. Patrick! Several years ago your channel was recommended to me by RUclips, so I decided to give it a gander, and I enjoyed it because of the simplicity. Continued to watch more of videos and was somewhat perplexed about the number of subscribers. I thought, "why does he NOT have more subscribers?" My immediate afterthought was "perhaps there are viewers like me who watch the videos, but have yet to subscribe." So, I subscribed. And I look forward to each and every upcoming video. Thanks for the ride!
Once again such a perfect narrative and thorough explanation of the airports, aircraft, the lounges, the food, bathrooms, showers, the seating config. Just perfect explanation. The US carriers flying to Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia still in my opinion have a long way to go in terms of comfortable seating, lighting, blankets, pillows, amenity kits for First Class, Business Class even Premium economy.
Thank you! I do know that a lot of people share that same opinion when looking at the apples to apples comparison of these routes between US airlines and middle east or asian airlines
We only take daytime flights to London totally avoiding jet lag. ORD, JFK/EWR & IAD all offer daytime flights. DL announced that it’ll add a daytime JFK-CDG in future.
Nice video. I haven't been on the upgraded 764 yet but I'm happy with upgrades. I truly wish they kept the 777s. Before they retired em, they was recently upgraded 2.
Agreed, I flew a Delta 777 back in January 2020 from LAX - CDG. It was recently upgraded with their Delta One Suites. I still don’t understand that move to retire them. Such a shame.
Congrats on 10k...Just a few small points, Boeing did NOT build the 767-400 just for Delta and United, they built it for Delta, Continental and Kenya, Kenya ended up cancelling theirs and switched to the 777. There were 38 made, not 37, Delta took 21 of them, Continental took 16 and the Bahrain Royal flight has one. The 400 has a range of 5625 nm, the 300er has a range of 5980 nm. Continental did of course merge with United so, well yeah. I was lucky enough to fly on CO's 764 flight to HNL and GUM back in the early 2000's, they had the throne seat back then. DL and VS are in terminal 3, they got pushed over to T4 during Covid,
I am 100% with you on the red eye, give me at least 10 hours. In my younger days I would fly through JFK to get on a Maxjet flight, but even that stopped when they closed down. I did do a few flights through STL when TWA were still around, those were just about long enough, the same holds true for the IAH-LGW flight on CO. I actually managed to hit the trifecta there, I had 747-200, 767-300er and 777-200 flights.
You are correct however the competition Airbus A330-200 just ate into B767-400 & B767-300/ER sales which is why you have more of them built over B767-400/ER.
My ideal east coast red eye time is 10hrs. I can watch a show, eat, get a proper sleep and land ready to start the day. Flying from YUL to CDG in Air Canada's business class was wonderful but our flight time was sub 8hrs only got 3-4hrs sleep. We landed at 9am and by the time 3pm hit I was delirious.
767 is the best aircraft for economy class 2-3-2 can't be beat. If you're flying between LAX and JFK delta flies the 767 2-3 times per day. Probably one of the best ways to transcon aside from Jet blue. Just like Air France Korean Air is also at terminal 1. We're you able to check out the VA lounge or did you not have access with your delta one ticket? Of course you want as long as possible for a red eye flight. I love flying to Korea from LAX on the night flight with Asiana. If you're in business class you get access to the star alliance lounge and the polaris lounge in T7 before your flight. You get your nights rest and then you arrive early in the morning around 4:30-5am or so. Once you arrive you have a whole day and you can take a 30 mins to 1 hr nap if needed to hold you over til bed time.
The 2-3-2 economy is great. I’ve done it on SFO-New York a number of times and find it very comfortable. I didn’t get up to the VA lounge as I figured 2 skyclubs was enough
Congrats on 10k subs! I am a new subscriber as well. I really enjoy your content, and I think you do a really good job. Looking forward to more from you!❤️✈️
I was actually at the Sky Club near the dead end… it was a nice lounge. I liked the sky deck where you could see all the planes outside… they also got nice cookies there too…
Thank you for sharing your trip. You made me 😂 laugh because I have to sleep coming from Chicago going to Europe in general. I have flown from Washington DC to London, UK and to Duesseldorf, Germany a few times but still took my naps. And that I still take a nap after getting into a hotel.
Yes, I have always lived flying on the 767s. They are great aircraft to fly. Yes, in general "red eye" flights are hard to deal with. Now that I have flown in my career with the airline, I continue to teach myself about as a regular passengers now!!!
Used to commute between Boston and London. Never bothered to get myself to the front of the bus. Even if I decided not to have a dinner, the noise and smells wouldn’t allow me to sleep until it’s over in the cabin.
Technically the flights departing from the East Coast aren’t red eyes which generally depart after 9 pm and arrive before 5 am. Those are just the normal departure times across the Atlantic.
Congratulations on 10K!! The private Delta One check in area used to be the Sky Priority check in area and was recently only changed to Delta One and the Sky Priority desks were moved to the common check in area. As a delta Diamond Medallion I used to use the private check in area for each flight since most Delta flights don’t have a Delta One cabin and JFK is one of my base airports so I fly to many destinations from JFK. I rarely see any people in the Delta One check in area. And the Sky deck in the sky club is always closed when I go! Even in the summer!
Thank you! And that’s interesting about moving the sky priority desks, although I do know Delta’s been working to make the Delta One airport experience even better
You are correct Delta is in the B Gates. Only go to A if some issue at B. Also delta uses Terminal 2. But I think 2 is going to be torn down soon for the new terminal 1 I believe. and Terminal 4 will be expanded. So I wonder if the random airlines will move to terminal 1 and T4 will become the skyteam terminal with delta as the main anchor.
Yes, my biggest issue with those even-rowed seats is how narrow the armrests up against the window are. There's not enough room there for my arm to get comfortable. And just generally I feel like the seating position is a smidge to close to the window. The odd-rowed window seats (those positioned closer to the aisles) actually do have wider armrests.
Yea the armrest is tough when it’s that small but I guess you have to choose between that or privacy as the aisle seats just are a bit more open to the aisle
I think Delta will be hard pressed to compete for point to point traffic on this route with Jet Blue Mint Studios, even on wide-bodies, unless they upgrade. And Jet Blue costs less, to boot. But overall, this is not bad at all. Definitely on par with BA these days, sad as it is to admit. How was the cabin crew, by the way? For me, where American carriers lose out to the competion is in the cabin crew area. Most of them look and behave like they don't want to be there and doing the job is a major chore for them.
This cabin crew was great. I only interacted with 2 of them, but they were lively and wonderful. I do agree the new JetBlue suites are a game changer. I will say that DL has better seats on their A330neos and A350s which they will use sometimes out of JFK
37:44, Including China Eastern airlines, which I flew on June 4 2023 from Shanghai to London, 11 and a half hour flight on Boeing 777-300ER and it's okay and once arrived in Heathrow, we park at Terminal 4.
Patrick, I agree 100% with you about red-eye flights. I'm from the west coast as well - PSP is my home airport - so I always try to fly to Europe direct from LAX or SFO if possible. Once I connected via Toronto in business class and found it lovely but way too short. Even ORD or DFW can be a bit short. DEN or PHX are not too shabby, tho. Thanks for the video.
Nice! Will Delta be flying 767s on prime routes much longer? I don't imagine opex is optimal with these older planes, fully capitalized though they may be.
Great and detailed review! I have a question. Did you experience a lot of galley or lavatory noise in row 2? I want to get the bulkhead seats for my BF and I because he's 6'3" and the footwell is larger for him, but not if it's loud and busy up there after dinner service.
I recently flew from DCA to JFK on Delta but was rebooked on Air France for my connecting flight to Paris. Let’s just say getting from Terminal 4 to Terminal 1 was not a fun experience to ensure I didn’t miss my flight.
Without question, Delta is the best of the major US airlines and although I personally prefer to fly the airline of the country I’m traveling to, we would consider Delta for our flights abroad.
Just thought I'd mention this since I don't see anyone else who has. Air France is in Terminal 1 at JFK because it is part of the consortium of four airlines who paid to design/remodel it in the 90s. The other three airlines are Korean Airlines, Lufthansa and Japan Airlines. The reason KLM has not moved over to Terminal 1 is because of a lack of space/gates to accommodate it's operations. With the new Terminal 1 being built however; there is a good chance Air France & Korean Airlines, will move into Terminal 4 with the rest of the Skyteam alliance partners.
Thanks for adding that info! Totally makes sense why Air France is there, it’s just a little weird to see alliance partners separated with no connection inside security
It's disappointing that many airlines take the easy way out with dessert by offering ice cream sundaes. When I've flown Air France Business Class, they are a nice exception by offering a selection of specialties from their pastry chefs. (Alitalia many years ago also did a rather nice job, senza gelato!) I've been on one Flight # 001 (and 002) which was LOT Polish Airlines ORD-WAW-ORD. Flight # 002 was the eastbound flight and # 001 was the westbound return flight. Patrick, question for you if you read all your comments; Have you ever flown on Soviet aircraft? I've had the displeasure of flying 4 times on two different Soviet built jets in the past: The Tupolev TU-134 and the TU-154. I had one flight on MALEV Hungarian Airlines BRU-BUD on a TU-134, BUD-SOF-BUD on TU-134 round trip with Balkan Bulgarian Airlines and one flight on a TU-154 LED-SVO on Aeroflot. By the way, excellent video from you again: 9.850
I will say that there were other dessert options, but I chose the sundae. I haven’t flown any Soviet aircraft (fortunately and unfortunately). I was going to try and fly Cubana’s IL96 to Madrid but I don’t think those will see the skies again
Delta's business class product is the best of any U.S. airline (the wider seat and roomier cabin make it better than JetBlue's Mint), but not quite as good as BA or Virgin Atlantic in my opinion.
Another great video! your videos cover everything I like to see in a premium travel vlog....now... I'm going to disagree with you on Delta lie-flats being most attractive in US lie-flats... I think the seats on American 787 are best in function, layout and yes appearance ..friendly disagreement. did I miss it or did your Delta one suite not have a messaging feature?
I don’t recall if it had a messaging feature. I’ve only flown the AA 787s once on a short domestic flight but I do have plans to fly it in the next few months hopefully!
You spent a bit too much time reviewing the lounges in this video when I was expecting a flight review on the Delta 767. Perhaps you might want to quickly summarize what the expect at the different lounges and then do separate longer reviews for the lounges?
I think it's funny when travel gurus say it's cheaper to start the flight in another country outside the U.S. All very well and good if you live outside the U.S. But if you live in the U.S., you have to get to the gateway outide the U.S. which incurs a COST!!! So fly to city outside ($$$) (economy) + First Class tix ($$$$) = US to end destination ($$$$) So basically subject yourself to a crappy flight to get to city outside US to get cheaper first class tix. Hmmm?? I dunno.
If I booked SFO-JFK-LHR it would have been 450,000 miles. MEX-JFK-LHR was 75,000 miles. And the flight to Mexico cost me $89.... you do you, but Imma take the cheaper cost, plus Mexico is one of my favorite countries with amazing people and some of my favorite food
Some strange hostility there… but what I’m referring to is that at the majority of airports, airline partners are in the same terminal or at least easier to transfer between
@@PatrickSheaAviation It's maddening to watch videos that are full of factual inaccuracies that could easily be corrected with some light research. If your intention was to express what you described above, you chose your words poorly in the video. As I said, AF's location is not "random".
No socks? Don't your feet smell. I always wear socks. It's uncomfortable to not wear them. I also wouldn't want to wear shorts on a plane. It might get too cold.
Oh I always wear socks, although depending on what kind of socks I’m wearing, sometimes I’ll just take them off when I’m wearing my slippers, since the no show socks tend to keep slipping off
Well I do enjoy the airport and lounge experience as well, and I know a lot of people appreciate it. But if that’s not your style you’re always welcome to use the time stamps I put on each video to skip to the flight portion
Another great vlog but you arrived into Terminal 3 in London not 4. Were you not able to use the Virgin arrivals lounge in London Revivals for a shower and breakfast and/or drinks ? Also was that not an option to use the Virgin Clubhouse in JFK? I can never sleep to London from the US so just lounge in relax mode even with a lie flat bed. I find a shower is amazing and lots of coffee in the flight and on arrival then I try to stay up till early evening and go to bed and sleep for 12-15 hours.. Congrats on the 10K.. well deserved as your vlogs are the nest of your peers. Ive dropped you a follow on Instagram and sent you a few pics of the 318 LCY-JFK flight.
I may have been able to use the Virgin Atlantic facilities, but on departure I figured 2 skyclubs were enough and then I actually had a connection to Edinburgh on arrival so no time to relax for me

Once I connected via Toronto in business class and found it lovely but way too short. Even ORD or DFW can be a bit short. DEN or PHX are not too shabby, tho. Thanks for the video.
I used to spend lots of time at PSP! That’s awesome! And yea, it’s tough but connecting through LAX/SFO definitely make for a better night’s sleep
Nice! Will Delta be flying 767s on prime routes much longer? I don't imagine opex is optimal with these older planes, fully capitalized though they may be.
I would assume we start to see these go away soon as newer aircraft, although I don’t believe there’s any hard plans at the moment
Great Video
😀
Thanks!
Great and detailed review! I have a question. Did you experience a lot of galley or lavatory noise in row 2? I want to get the bulkhead seats for my BF and I because he's 6'3" and the footwell is larger for him, but not if it's loud and busy up there after dinner service.
37:40 - Actually, Virgin's based at Terminal 3 - for quite a few decades now. That also contains the renowned Virgin Clubhouse.
I recently flew from DCA to JFK on Delta but was rebooked on Air France for my connecting flight to Paris. Let’s just say getting from Terminal 4 to Terminal 1 was not a fun experience to ensure I didn’t miss my flight.
I do hope JFK can make connecting easier as they slowly continue to renovate things
Without question, Delta is the best of the major US airlines and although I personally prefer to fly the airline of the country I’m traveling to, we would consider Delta for our flights abroad.
Delta does have a wonderful product although as a big fan of United’s Polaris I may have to disagree with you a bit 🫠
Don't forget to add this to the Playlist
What's with the polka dot glass in that terminal lounge?
32:37, Sometimes it happen. Maybe it's malfunction, even though your in the flight to London.
Virgin and Delta are in T3 !
Hi, have you done EK1 or QR1 ?
Do really like you channel .
QR1 is on there, EK1 I am still waiting on however
Would be good if you included the date of the flight in your descriptions.
Not a bad idea. Thanks!
Great review. In terms of separate lounges for business & first class passengers, Delta has fallen behind American & United for sure.
Agreed. Although it sounds like those plans are on the way
Delta and Virgin fly into London Heathrow Terminal 3 NOT terminal 4
The 767-400 was originally built for Delta and Continental.
I think they’re still the only ones flying it. Obviously as United now but still
"A small course that was more of a breakfast"? No it was. Breakfast. Lol
If Delta Airlines comes to Cardiff Airport for nonstop from JFK do try that flight
That would be an interesting flight for sure
Delta's business class product is the best of any U.S. airline (the wider seat and roomier cabin make it better than JetBlue's Mint), but not quite as good as BA or Virgin Atlantic in my opinion.
Interesting. I find United’s Polaris seat and JetBlue’s mint seat to be much more comfortable in my opinion
DAL 767-300 and 400 business class is really coach with a little more room that's not worth the price in cash or miles!
Yea… luckily you can also find A330neos on this route at times as well
24:05, 4 to 5 hours of sleep on a 8 and a half to 12 hour flight.
You said Delat is at terminal 4 at LHR, you are incorrect Delta are at T3 with Virgin Atlantic, not T4
When the Boom Overture comes into service, this flight will only be 3 hours!
Thus doing away with red eye flying!!
It would be great to see something like that, let's hope that Boom works out!
2:04 What he wanted?
Delta use terminal 3 in Heathrow anot terminal 4.
French toast without vanilla sauce…😮
Good ideas, thanks
I miss continental Airlines
I think it's funny when travel gurus say it's cheaper to start the flight in another country outside the U.S. All very well and good if you live outside the U.S. But if you live in the U.S., you have to get to the gateway outide the U.S. which incurs a COST!!!
So fly to city outside ($$$) (economy) + First Class tix ($$$$) = US to end destination ($$$$)
So basically subject yourself to a crappy flight to get to city outside US to get cheaper first class tix. Hmmm??
AF is not “randomly” in terminal 1-there a specific reason. Try doing some research.
The best flight attendants are from Asia.
I have had some great flight attendants on many Asian carriers, but the North American crews have definitely gotten much better recently
10 hours
These trip reviews are just too long. Mate!
Flew delta business many times in the 1990s. They were awful.
The new Delta business class is great in my opinion. The release of their Delta One suites was a game changer
No socks? Don't your feet smell. I always wear socks. It's uncomfortable to not wear them. I also wouldn't want to wear shorts on a plane. It might get too cold.
Oh I always wear socks, although depending on what kind of socks I’m wearing, sometimes I’ll just take them off when I’m wearing my slippers, since the no show socks tend to keep slipping off
Why do the people who make these travel videos always dress, groom, look, and behave as if they are going to their local Waffle House for supper?
If I’m sitting on a plane overnight, I’m going to be comfortable. There’s no reason to dress up for sitting alone in your seat for the flight
This is THE longest video of nothing before the plane even gets airborne. Geez! Get on with it!
Well I do enjoy the airport and lounge experience as well, and I know a lot of people appreciate it. But if that’s not your style you’re always welcome to use the time stamps I put on each video to skip to the flight portion
Please make longer videos. 2 hour minimum would be good and continue the constant excruciating voice over 😂😂😂😂😂 Unsubscribed
👋
@PatrickSheaAviation there are better reviewers out there. Eg flip Flop and Josh.
