Sad coz Faker has almost never really used a skin and regularly talks about how things are expensive and for people to stop donating large amounts of money when he streams. This isnt a skin to honor his legacy and legend status, this is a cash grab hoping to profit of his reputation, at least from whoever is in charge of the prices. Im sure whoever designed the skin has the utmost respect for Faker and his legacy, sadly the ones in charge of the cost dont share that respect

@@ModestestRUST He's missing the entire point. A skin isn't a model you print, it replaces your in-game character model with new appearance, animations, spell animations, voicelines, emotes, etc. It customizes your champion and lets you show off to teammates and opponents. I don't know what printing would achieve here. The usual price for a skin is between 5 and maybe 30 dollars for the rarest ones, at least it was the case back in 2020 or so, maybe they released a few 100 bucks one since then because I don't see how you would jump from around 10 average to 500, even for an exceptional event. I just checked and there's a couple of info not covered here ; the skin isn't actually 500 bucks, it's 250 bucks. The 500 bundle is just the highest you can pay with a few goodies sprinkled on top, but the minimum price for the actual skin is 250. And there's a fair amount of animations on it, the skin can transform several times in-game, meaning you're more or less paying for 3 or 4 skins in one, even though some other skins used to do that for less money (Elementalist Lux is around 25 bucks for reference, and works the same way as the Ahri skin with more different forms and maybe less unique animations)

league was free to play, a true free to play, I played this game for 14 years never had to sub like morons do with wow. I spend more money on games that I play 15h avarage... whats your point?
ok this is logically speaking how it goes, they wouldn't even come close to the same if it was 5x cheaper, no matter what the cost of the bundle/cosmetic or item is, vast majority of people do not engage with the transactions at all regardless of cheap or expensive, so lets say the bundle was 100 dollars, and they sold 10 million bundles, they made 1 billion dollars, lets say the bundle was 500 and they sold 2 million bundles, they made the same amount with 8 million less sales, this is why prices are higher rather than lower, even if the cost is lower they have to sell more in a market when more people regardless of price do not partake with these purchases even if the same 500 dollar bundle was 5 dollars and affordable, they would have to sell more bundles than there are players playing the game and still wouldn't come close. they also spend 200 million dollars per year to provide the world with a free to play title with free content updates because the whales are their foundation. this game would have stagnated, lost hype over a decade ago had it not been for the price of MTX.

League skins are trash it's 80% artwork 10% remodeling the base model and 10% animation. This skin probably took a couple days to finish and there selling it for 20x-40x normal skin price just because of the character. More significant moments happened on other characters yet they make the only special skin not because of what he did with the character, not because who he is but because of the character.
11:20 you can't say skins are valueless, especially if your coming to that conclusion based on the fact that they have no resale value. you can not resell a carton of milk but the milk obviously still has value. skins can, and often do for many people, improve the gameplay experience and so they are worth something. the real question is of course how much is that value. for me I would say most skins improve the game by about 4% for me personally, that is to say not much. that means if I see a skin for a champion I know for certain that I play a lot and I know I will use this skin most of the times I play said champion, I will often buy that skin, because I feel that that slight increase of quality over the hundreds of gameplay hours I will use it for is worth the £15 I spent. would I buy a skin that cost more than £300? fuck no. no matter how much I use the skin or how great it is, it will never be worth that much money. but the skin is still worth something, just not as much as the price tag would require. another example I could use as to how skins do have value is that they are similar to game remasters, most people would rather have a remastered halo than not, and a lot of people will buy them, this is essentially a couple of percentage points of a remaster. if you use it long enough it might be worth buying.
I don't mind spending 20-30 a year on skins for League, it's a free to play game and I think more games should have this format. It really is annoying buying a game and Then being at a disadvantage to someone who spent more on something like a battle pass.
Anyone play City of Heroes back in the day? Almost completely free, fully customizable visual abilities, and you'll never see two people who look the same. So a simple ability like "blast", could have 20 different visuals. It could be a rifle shot, a bow, a fireball, an iron man blast, a lightning arc, or pretty much anything the developers could imagine. Man, I miss city of heroes.

Wait… how does paying for the development of a costly skin just to give it away for free allow Riot to “still make bank” from it? Also, you seem to not understand that Riot is targeting two totally different customer groups with these skins. Some players want things as cheap as possible and don’t care if everybody else has the skin. While others don’t really care how much it costs as long as it’s rare/limited and looks cool. Obviously there is a whole spectrum of the playerbase that lives somewhere between those two extremes. There is no way to please everyone with one skin release. This is why Riot releases skins with varying costs and rarities. This particular skin just happens to targets those who prefer the most expensive/rare skins in the game. People who drop a lot of money on skins are the ones that make it possible for those with less money to play the game for free. If the skin is not worth $500 to you just sit back, laugh, and be grateful there are people out there who are willing to bankroll the game in exchange for digital clothes so you can play it for free.
skins are not trash, especially if they are not overpriced, and for something you are playing for free as is League, (amazing game btw, even though i stopped earlier this year) , it's a great way to support the company that is providing you with countless hours of entertainment.

I just checked and there's a couple of info not covered here ; the skin isn't actually 500 bucks, it's 250 bucks. The 500 bundle is just the highest you can pay with a few goodies sprinkled on top, but the minimum price for the actual skin is 250. And there's a fair amount of animations on it, the skin can transform several times in-game, meaning you're more or less paying for 3 or 4 skins in one, even though some other skins used to do that for less money (Elementalist Lux is around 25 bucks for reference, and works the same way as the Ahri skin with more different forms and maybe less unique animations)

ok this is logically speaking how it goes, they wouldn't even come close to the same if it was 5x cheaper, no matter what the cost of the bundle/cosmetic or item is, vast majority of people do not engage with the transactions at all regardless of cheap or expensive, so lets say the bundle was 100 dollars, and they sold 10 million bundles, they made 1 billion dollars, lets say the bundle was 500 and they sold 2 million bundles, they made the same amount with 8 million less sales, this is why prices are higher rather than lower, even if the cost is lower they have to sell more in a market when more people regardless of price do not partake with these purchases even if the same 500 dollar bundle was 5 dollars and affordable, they would have to sell more bundles than there are players playing the game and still wouldn't come close. they also spend 200 million dollars per year to provide the world with a free to play title with free content updates because the whales are their foundation. this game would have stagnated, lost hype over a decade ago had it not been for the price of MTX.

you can't say skins are valueless, especially if your coming to that conclusion based on the fact that they have no resale value. you can not resell a carton of milk but the milk obviously still has value. skins can, and often do for many people, improve the gameplay experience and so they are worth something. the real question is of course how much is that value. for me I would say most skins improve the game by about 4% for me personally, that is to say not much. that means if I see a skin for a champion I know for certain that I play a lot and I know I will use this skin most of the times I play said champion, I will often buy that skin, because I feel that that slight increase of quality over the hundreds of gameplay hours I will use it for is worth the £15 I spent. would I buy a skin that cost more than £300? fuck no. no matter how much I use the skin or how great it is, it will never be worth that much money. but the skin is still worth something, just not as much as the price tag would require. another example I could use as to how skins do have value is that they are similar to game remasters, most people would rather have a remastered halo than not, and a lot of people will buy them, this is essentially a couple of percentage points of a remaster. if you use it long enough it might be worth buying.

It's really not worth the amount of money, there's no effort behind it whatsoever...
If the skin is not worth $500 to you just sit back, laugh, and be grateful there are people out there who are willing to bankroll the game in exchange for digital clothes so you can play it for free.
just want to point out that Annie-versary is NOT an ultimate skin, its a 1350rp one, but the point still stands
If there's a choice between the 500 dollar ahri skin or the 300 dollar lego legend of zelda deku tree, i'm getting the tree
You even have 200 leftover to buy a couple deku nuts.
@@lordgrey5223 Lmao
Well, Lego is a even worse scam tbh.
@@Tudas No because you can sell it at a higher price once that model is no longer in production.
@@okami7847 And that makes it less scammy? Lego is such an disgusting company, thank god they lost the rights on the stone itself.
Why is every gaming company now releasing very expensive things to buy?
i would do the same if i were them,, they found a money glitch and are exploiting it
skins are not trash, especially if they are not overpriced, and for something you are playing for free as is League, (amazing game btw, even though i stopped earlier this year) , it's a great way to support the company that is providing you with countless hours of entertainment.
People saying in the comments for that amount Ahri should manifest IRL next to them.
The joke here is:
LoL players can only get a girlfriend if they warp reality through money they don't have, then think Ahri would stay. Ima be honest, if anyone manifested next to a man in a basement with Cheeto finger keyboards and 12 soda cans on their desk and a body pillow in the corner standing upright, they sure as hell ain't sticking around.
Soon the skin prices will be more than the worlds winner money 😂
"I feel like that cat, that's op man that's crazy"
Thank God I'm not crazy for thinking that the idea of EVERYTHING being brokenly unplayably good is bad. That character was op like 10 yrs ago btw.
Some truly great games have been made on the premise that if everything is OP, nothing is. I've never played it however, I suspect LoL isn't one of them.
@memitim171 yeah there are some goods games that actually are even balanced around this. The problem is league picks favorites based on the devs preferences and then actively shit on everyone else. Every patch, and it's been checked before, if you check the devs play history they hard spam pick the current meta they set up then dump it next week. They also actively hate the idea of tanks and treat them like literal dumpsters to the point of nerfing their "durability patch" that was supposed to curb the power creep. It lasted literally less than 2 weeks. Sorry for the info dump I just love this game and everyone is huffing copium so hard in the Fandom they might as well be on the fent
@@voidax99 Sounds very similar to Games Workshop's strat, sell the new shiny (though I suppose in Lol's case they are just hoping you buy the skins), nerf the bejesus out of it, release new shiny, rinse and repeat.
god, even in an epic, specifically edited and recorded trailer, the game looks so terrible compared to dota xD
not to mention skin prices and the fact u can re-sell them, since it's steam, all champs/heroes being free2play and so many more points that make dota more attractive xD
That last idea about catching bugs and spiders for the stream to show is great, I hope people remind him or tell atleast whether that would be cool
i about to join that therapy you were saying and the 500 dollars skin show up
Man. Skin looks like a mobile game ad
It's a 2009 game and I'm not sure they've had any major graphics updates. It's actually insane so many people still play it.
@@pdpgb because it's the biggest competetive e-sport game, you can say the same about warcraft 3, dota, AoE, starcraft,...
@@kaito462 Do people still play Warcraft 3?
This is nothing different than gamergirl's bathwater but now you can flex it ingame
They forgot 1 important thing faker never play with skins 😎
he did a few times and will do it again with his own skin I guess
When a in-game skin costs almost my entire bi-weekly paycheck
Immortalised WHALE Collection***
the league community will absolutely be so petty as to auto ban ahri, so only way to play with a 500$ skin will be with bots and custom games. kek
It's nice to see, maybe Riot will at least reduce the price to something realistic. Or maybe they won't.
Communities need to stand up for themselves more.
I might have actually bought the pass/skins if it wasn't a months worth of money for people. The quality is actually good for once. Nice to know how much actual quality costs.
They definitely have a target demo with this one
And every other people who cannot afford this hated the idea. Lol. They are so blinded about the price that they forget this is cosmetics only. Whether you buy it or not, it doesn't matter. It's like buying a $500 underwear and yet you are single and doesn't engage in s*x. Does it really matter? Why get mad at them if that's what they want?
@@konaqua122if people normalize buying 500 bucks underwear why would anyone else sell cheap 5 bucks underwear?
@@konaqua122as someone who used to had EVERY skin in game until 2018. I was wrong and many people like I was it's still wrong. These cosmetics make the experience OBJETIVELY talking worst. Never touching LOL again and feel glad and proud about my decision.
@@konaqua122It matters becuase if it sells well there's no point in improving the game of making content. Why would they ever bother balancing the game or putting effort into new game modes if they can quintuple their profits by just remodeling characters and charging 10 times what a whole ass video game costs? You can blame the people selling the crack as well as the buyers, fyi.
@@HikariVictor i mean ...you probably already paid them tons of cash anyway
It would literally be better for League of legends to sell STANLEY CUPS with champion emotes on them, or ranks, than this lmao.
500 dollars is more than my monthly grocery cost. Im happy for ppl who is rich enough to afford this skin.
DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO
Read that in Goku’s voice
People need to realize that if they buy skins in video games they actually buy nothing. Owner of the game is the only owner of the skin. You have no right to use textures, models, animations and sounds that are connected to skin. You don't even own your account. It's leased to you in restricted terms. If the company decide to shut down the servers one day after you buy expensive skin, then they will. And you will receive nothing to compensate. CSGO was different in this case, but still virtually restricted to one platform only.
let me guess, you are proud NFT owner
@@noteda6361 Excuse me, did you just compared something that has no real value to something that has imaginary value?
And you are investing your valuable time on a leased account 😂😂. You probably have wasted more than $500 for wasting your time on video games, YT, getting mad over meaningless subjects etc 😂😂😂. You are OK with that but can't stand ppl wasting their money? Your mom will probably think spending 500 dollars on a video game and you spending hours and years on video game is equally stupid. So funny these people think they are legit obliged to criticize someone for wasting money when they are literally wasting time which equates to money 😂😂😂😂
“Ahiri” skins. I can’t 😂. Someone tell him how to say Ahri
He doesnt play lol...
I mean if this makes the mmo 100% free im all for it.
500$ is just too much...
10:24 Exactly is a "free" game of course they need to sell something to keep the "free" thing. Ex: you wanna play Val or Lol and suddenly some ads come out?
Sometimes I like this kind of "free" game cause I can choose to really spent money on it or just enjoy the gameplay of this game
the camera is so far above your character.... why would u pay for a skin in this game XD
cause spells look cooler
Because you can still see it?XD
Because humans XD
Some people play this game 10 hours a day. For them it might be worth it.
because of new skill effects, new interactions, new animations, new recall, cool spash art to put on profile aswell
I don't see the controversy. Who loses when someone buys a $500 game pass?
If I was u he he hehe he boy I was buying this mf skin with no waiting
English hard
and i was upset with the bullshit valve did with the 2022 battlepass, but riot fucks up even more xD
while as dota's current event and latest patch was just pure insanity, even on a fully free2play level, already got skins worth ~80 bucks by now and it's almost 3more months with new stuff releasing :D
Real. Arcanas look better than this shit tbh LOL
the Mcdonald paradox is either you get a good coke and shitty fries or the coke taste bad and the fries are prefect, you can never have both....
I will get this, 500 is nothing
The profit is given 70/30 to Faker’s whole team, in the favor of Riot obviously. So Faker as an individual is probably getting a little bit more than dirt compared to Riot. And the people get worthless items whose worthlessness is covered up by buzzwords
The SKIN is NOT 500$, the bundle is, which has 2 skins and a bunch of other things. You can still pay like 25 dollars for the skin or get lucky and get it for free in a chest, this drama is so dumb.
edtt: no one is going to follow that ''bad Ahri in protest of the pricy bundle'' for more than a week.
Skins drama is always dumb, but you are wrong on everything else, 20 something bucks is a most basic form of the skin, other 2 are not sold outside of bundles and neither of 3 will ever be in chests
I think the funniest thing about it is knowing there is a subset of league players who are like late 20s early 30s busters who have always been in gold/plat with egirls they buy shit for cringing at this and knowing they'll have it for themself AND the egirl.
I was thinking of getting back into League since I got a new gaming computer, but this has put me off.
well, the skin is pretty and everything. but my rent costs almost as much as it does.
