I am having so much fun, as a league player who play the game for 13 years, its always fun to watch those kind of dramas :D But truth is - this makes the community alive :D
You cant compare WoW tier set appearence to LoL skins. If you do not like a tier set appearence you can create your own or change to an older one - you have options.
As a league player, the community is okay. It's just the 35.000 Syndra mains pissing themselves crying, but the remaining 50 million of us are happy to see Nami receive her first legendary skin since her release 10 years ago. Don't let the vocal minority fool you - the rest of us are content.
I mean to be fair, Syndra mains are waiting 14 years (and counting) for their Legendary, what hit harder than most was that Coven was teased around Syndras Anniversary which made more Anticipation that she'd get some special treatment in the skin department.

When I was a kid, I tried getting into League because I liked the look of one of the characters. My PC at the time was unable to install it, let alone play it. I'm not a religious man, but to this day I think that was some kind of gift from god.
As someone who's never played League, can someone explain what the issue is? From the outside, it does seem weird that they'd give some characters skins, but not others and that this would go on for years. So strange to think that there's a commercial demand for a fairly easy to provide product and the company just leaves the money on the table.
They do somewhere between 5-12 skins every two weeks and they've been doing it for years. I assume trying to improve workflow would be difficult and its already at a blazing pace. As for why some champs get skins and some don't its simply because some champs skins sell better, would you make a skin that would only pull in maybe 10k in revenue just to appease a few fans or would you put out Ezreals 19th skin for a guarantee of 100k. The skins team carry riots income and intentionally making a much smaller profit every few weeks just to make fans happy isn't viable.
@betatester03 Players want legendary skins because they're high quality at a low price. Because skins are available in tiers, Riot prefers spending less effort, and demanding more money. Unnamed Tier: Recolor, ranging from paintbucket tool to new vfx. These give the most money to Riot when bought, as they are low effort money printers. Deluxe, Altered Model These are low effort, and usually the new assets clash heavily with the remaining unaltered assets. Standard, Altered (or new) Model, new Texture and Recall animation. Second best value. "Epic", New model, texture, recall animation, and VFX Often not very different from Standard, but costs 38% more. Legendary: New Model, Texture, Animations, VFX, SFX, and voice over. Less than $20, best value! Legendary+ Pay more money for a legendary skin! (leaked). Ultimate: High price, funds RnD, usually comes with new UI. Prestige: Modern Fashion, and Bling, High Effort New Texture! Technically a Recolor: $200 Myrhic Buy more lootboxes!
Also, some models and animations for older champions prevent them from doing them the best they could be, so they don't work so much on certain champs or if they do, it's not often
it’s not “fairly easy” as you might think, legendaries and skins above this tier takes them longer to develop because most of them are basically made from the ground up. They have actual different models not just a skin and some vfx put on top of the original, their animations are different for every skill and interactions, new voice lines that are congruent to the skin’s universe lore, some have gimicks that are basically minigames inside the base game like elementalist lux who can basically change models midgame by mixing elements.
@@qai3962 That's really insightful, thank you. Definitely cleared up the misconception I had due to the word "skin" in this context. Like you said, I assumed it was new textures, some particle effects, MAYBE a new model.
I started playing League in 2011 at the end of season 1. Over the years i had lots of fun but also lots of frustrations playing it sometimes more and sometimes less active with many breaks because of issues like a broken PC. After all those years i finally in 2020 pulled the plug and removed this abusiv relationship from my life. It bettered my life. I am now back to League because u can actually never escape it, it will never let u go.
The fact that league players are considered insane or miserable is wild to me. I played league 12 years ago and just got back into it hearing that everyone just mutes their team. Its not insanity, its called being a snowflake. If you get tilted over a game or others talking shit, you are just weak minded
I played league for ten years, eventually the battlepass fomo shit burned me out (I have hdad with a dash of autism for fun) because even tho (as i found out through an site that sums your total) i spent an embarrassing amount of money on it while i was simply enjoying the game, their constant "player retention" efforts and making me feel like i have to log in ever day, quickly killed it for me, i will do something of my own accord for 10 years, but the moment you you make me feel i have to, it won't last a week. But what i actually wanted to address was "losing in league means you have to sit there losing for 20 minutes", in the over 5k games i played (I was depressed for a few years and it was literally all i did) i never once surrendered, eventually i landed on not being an asshole about it if the other four people clicked yes, but i never once got myself to do it. Because, surrendering robs you of so many things: - Are you frustrated with how the game is going ?, is it getting you mad that things are not going your way ? .... good, sit with it, feel it, and learn how to deal with it, yes the game offers an easy out, but life won't, teach yourself to deal with your emotions instead of opting out. - If you're only willing to play the game when you're ahead, then that is also the only condition you will ever be able to play under, you can't turn the ship around if all you've ever allowed yourself to prioritize is smooth sailing, look for strategies, experiment, see what works, learn to adapt to being on the back foot. - And even if defeat is all but a certainty, go wild, try that crazy play, experiment with the mechanics of your champion, play like you've got nothing to lose. Or click yes to surrender and flip a coin if you're going to hate the next match or not.
Soldier of the Nami's Army here... I'm glad to see famous figures like Asmongold reporting on this important and polemic topic. Got the new Coven skin for her in the first days, including border, chroma, and all the profile pics, in exchange of only a few brain cells and the reminiscences of my sanity.
Just for context since Asmon conpared it to tier sets. Warriors always get a tier set whrn rveryone else gets a tier set. Some ate vetter than others but you know youre getting another. In league some champions only get a skin every few years so if they give your champion one thst sucks it will be years before you see another. There are 160 champions in the game but most people only actually play a few of them and some only play 1.
As much as I agree that this is insane, it's also very funny to see a wow player saying league must break people's brains when I've only ever met 2 types of wow players. 1) they still play and take it WAY too seriously. 2) they used to play and now talk about their time in wow like an abusive relationship or crack addiction haha
23:11 People did not realize in this video because they don't know LoL, but Nami is in a poly relationship in the canon lore of the game, which is why that guy said that.
the good thing about league is that all the microtransactions are purely cosmetic. granted some of them make some animations look different (not too different where you don't know what it is).
Never thought about (or noticed) this but It is weird though, both of those champs see much play every single season, no matter the meta. And many of the skin lines would fit them. And would make tons of money.
6:45 that doesnt really compare you can just tmog. To make a fair comparison, imagine if all classes had cool looking sets across the board. Except warrior, your top looking gear looks as good as the 5th best set of dks. How do you feel now?
I've been playing LoL for over 13 years. The "in-game" community is absolutely toxic, but I can't relate to what's being said because it's absolutely the first time I've heard this here. It's absolute S-tier trashtalking over a few hundred players. There is absolutely no way to have such a discussion because the two champions are as different as night and day. The two champs aren't even the most popular. Syndra is also a fairly meta-dependent champ, so as not to have to have the discussion about her strength and popularity. It's completely nonsense.
MOBA's tend to be quite emotionally intense and frustrating, combined with annonymity and distance from behind the screen it is a very good soil for aggression. Most players are egoistically obssessed about KDA, damage dealt or MMR and winning rather than trying to have a good game. Maybe every single player thinks their MMR should be higher than it is, because they are focusing more on others mistakes instead of their own. Few people realize that every change with every patch is like unlearning you the game.
I've played League since season 2 and yeah, admittedly I have spent WAAAY too much money to the microtransactions on the past. Each time new skin dropped, I got it. Nowadays when I play, I play excusively Shaco, so like 98% of my purchases are there for no reason. Screaming to get more to buy is just idiotic and I know that 'cause I used to be that idiot myself.
To be Fair, Coven was teased around Syndras Anniversary and a lot of us were hoping Riot would give her a Legendary after 13 years since her release, of course Nami mains deserve their legendary as well, but all the things adding up only for the disappointment really hit us hard.
Forecast Janna "bad"? Entire new voicelines as well as some cool visuals, as well as just a cool concept. I break it out when I need a break from Star Gaurdian. As a Nami enthusiast... she's gotten a number of killer skins over the last 3 years, Legendary be damned. This is off the charts cool with the visual and particle effects, as well as fundamental changes to the core model. Will I waste my time arguing with Syndra mains over this? No. If a Syndra main brings it up, I'll just do a little murmaider on them in-game. Also, SKT Nami has the coolest recall animation in the game. Change my mind.
It's so insanely funny to me that you get people who are just like this but with other games saying "wow they are so weird, not like my beloved community: and it's just as cooked because this is just generic fanboy shit that plagues everything in existence from sports teams to fringe anime characters.
Honestly (different game) smite T5 skins that have been released in the past years im still upset that i didnt get that T5 skin for Anubis that shit was soooo fuckn dope how your God can change forms each time it levels up missed the opportunity i wanna die in style lmfao 😂
As a part of the Nami mains, I was just happy we got a legendary, I wasn't really banking on getting anything for Nami for awhile, but then BOOM. And to be fair to syndra mains, she fits the 'coven' theme better, she's this power hungry mage basically. I would probably be a bit mad too.. the perfect skinline comes and your champ that most likely fits it the best doesn't get it? ouch. But they are also crazy it seems like LOL.
Used to play league. It developed this new champion and new skin syndrome. People are playing and paying for the new champion(optional can be earned in-game) and new skins so it's never gonna end.
Every competitive game is toxic in a way. I'm not sure why people exclusively attribute this to league. Search for videos of fighting game offline tournaments literally punching each other in the face out of rage. Edit: I've also only spent money on a skin exactly once because I gifted it to someone who ended up being super happy about it (worth it, it's the little things sometimes) but I still got at least one skin for every champion, often more, just from the free boxes. I think many people who want more skins are hoping to pull them rather than spend money on them but I could be wrong.
14:18 So people talking about what the think and what they want in a sweet manner without cursing and mocking the developers is considered "insane" nowadays? (I'm from PoE community btw) 22:10 Now that is what I'm used to seeing on reddit.

Also sniper is his hero title. He has a real name and actual story behind him like pretty much every other hero.
@@hydra1584 I meant I respect it a little better cuz I know it's also toxic. These competitive games where you rely a bit on your teammates to not be ass will always have a high level of toxicity
10:06
I think it's not how long the games are. I just played a game that I thought we gona lose but we anded up wining and I think thats the reason. That it's a game with a lot of variables starting with your teammates all the way to millisecundums in a teamfight. I'm not a very experianced League player but I often feel like everything can be lost at any moment and in my opinion this can make you crasy. When you know how close you were to something or how a million other ways something could turn out but you couldnt do it.
Riot can't be held accountable for syndra mains getting high on their own hype though
@@SpiceCh not saying that they should, but it was just disappointment at most, but this is Riot, the same company that gave lee sin 4 Legendary skins, and 3 of them are already dragon themed skins.
@@arclight480 Who cares? There are alot of champions without a legendary skin.
@@williamlindroos2250 I'm saying that it doesn't matter if he brought up that Nami waited 10 years for a legendary cause other champions waited longer and still haven't gotten one.
I really enjoyed playing league with friends, but I absolutely detest the community. I can’t stand to play with randoms, it’s nauseating. When my friends pretty much all quit or moved on to other games, I quit as well because I hated playing with randoms that much.
i couldnt finish this video, it made me feel a kind of despair for how some humans are that I haven't felt in a while.
9:20 What's the song at this minute? I can't remember the name and the list for classical music's too long to look for it one by one
If he already reacts that much with this "league drama", wait until he sees the Ryze mains subreddit. I think he will die
Edit:
14:30 Oh he will like Ryze mains
"Vacation with crazies". make it a series, and I'll be there to watch it all.
Best part is: akali got a legendary AND a Prestige within months of each other. Akali mains stay winning lmao.
20:46 any fart can start a fire 😂😂😂😂
When I was a kid, I tried getting into League because I liked the look of one of the characters. My PC at the time was unable to install it, let alone play it.
I'm not a religious man, but to this day I think that was some kind of gift from god.
Braum and Taric players getting 1/4 of a skin every 2 years: "We're blessed! Thanks riot."
Love when asmongold watches necrit!
2:38 that edit... 🤌
@betatester03
Players want legendary skins because they're high quality at a low price.
Because skins are available in tiers, Riot prefers spending less effort, and demanding more money.
Unnamed Tier:
Recolor, ranging from paintbucket tool to new vfx.
These give the most money to Riot when bought, as they are low effort money printers.
Deluxe,
Altered Model
These are low effort, and usually the new assets clash heavily with the remaining unaltered assets.
Standard,
Altered (or new) Model,
new Texture and Recall animation.
Second best value.
"Epic",
New model, texture, recall animation, and VFX
Often not very different from Standard, but costs 38% more.
Legendary:
New Model, Texture, Animations, VFX, SFX, and voice over.
Less than $20, best value!
Legendary+
Pay more money for a legendary skin! (leaked).
Ultimate:
High price, funds RnD, usually comes with new UI.
Prestige:
Modern Fashion, and Bling,
High Effort New Texture!
Technically a Recolor:
$200
Myrhic
Buy more lootboxes!
10:34 he practically summarized what its like to play league without ever playing league
Meanwhile lux with 19 skins...
As someone who doesn’t buy skins anymore, I do appreciate the artwork of modern splash-arts
League has like around 10-ish good skins and the rest is a shitty splash art bait. I dont blame you.
The fact that league players are considered insane or miserable is wild to me. I played league 12 years ago and just got back into it hearing that everyone just mutes their team. Its not insanity, its called being a snowflake. If you get tilted over a game or others talking shit, you are just weak minded
The sheer disbelief on Asmon’s face is priceless.
that's light, you should have seen the Ryze mains subreddit
This is the closest i'll ever get to being in an asmongold video, lmao; glad none of this stuff leaked into the discords or we'd be ruined.
And i called out the nami coven skin 4 years ago where's my shoutout necrit :(
we found her
Asylum
Because, surrendering robs you of so many things:
- Are you frustrated with how the game is going ?, is it getting you mad that things are not going your way ? .... good, sit with it, feel it, and learn how to deal with it, yes the game offers an easy out, but life won't, teach yourself to deal with your emotions instead of opting out.
I'm an old gaming nerd who also spends more time on the internet than he should...and this story made me feel like a gigachad. 😂
The ”League of Losers” was literally the nail in the coffin on that one
I'd wish Asmongold played League at least once
He would not be able to keep up
As somebody who has never played League before I can confirm that you are not okay.
1:15 "Syndra and Nami are Old-school classic champions"
Man I'm feeling old..
people saying "women 🍵" not realizing queens of league is gay dudes lmao
It's so insanely funny to me that you get people who are just like this but with other games saying "wow they are so weird, not like my beloved community: and it's just as cooked because this is just generic fanboy shit that plagues everything in existence from sports teams to fringe anime characters.
3:30 "Sir, SIR! _Put down the soymilk!"_
give one shard of each when its 25x event of each to give players chance to maybe to get lucky or change it that first champion has 100% droprate
what's hilarious is that it worked. The coven skins came out and it went to syndra and nami with nami getting legendary. They do listen atleast
Honestly (different game) smite T5 skins that have been released in the past years im still upset that i didnt get that T5 skin for Anubis that shit was soooo fuckn dope how your God can change forms each time it levels up missed the opportunity i wanna die in style lmfao 😂
6:11 chair makes the roblox death sound
From horse armour in Oblivion, how far we have fallen....
Is that Kara music around 12:00 in?
I love how he reacted the same exact way to seeing the Queens of League sub as I did.
Now I'm waiting for a "Who Wore it Better" Battle to the death. There's the subplot for Arcane S2. Wait for it lol
(I'm from PoE community btw)
22:10 Now that is what I'm used to seeing on reddit.
