I think the automatic OK Google detection that listens all the time is quite the drain on the battery anyway. I use a bluetooth earpiece and just tap it, wait for the ding and it wakes the screen and I can use it via the earpiece without ever touching my phone. I wear mine on a cord around my neck (with a magnetic clasp) and use it a cheap alternative to Philips Lifeline.
