Very good tutorial. Very well explained. A lot of these tutorial videos on RUclips are fucking horrible but honestly this video is extremely good. I like how it’s short and sweet and to the point you don’t talk about any extra bullshit. Great job!!!
I like HUSKY Painter's Plastic (red, white, and blue box), although there are other brands. The roll is 9 ft. x 400 ft. The thickness is .31 mil. That will work for almost all types of masking.
Hi, I work in project design, mostly outdoor for eco communities, homesteads, permaculture farms, sustainable landscapes, pools, etc. Always on the lookout for best products and methods for environmental considerations on waste and being able to reuse such as canvas tarps, etc. Have worked on paint crews but years ago and not up on current products. Are there any films or tapes or methods that you recommend that would be considered best practices from the environmental perspective? I know for a homeowner painting French doors they can learn how to cut in but when spraying that doesn't work too great!
Is there an advantage to this technique over a hand-masker? For general areas the hand-masker's speed seems hard to beat. But I can see where doing the tape first would allow more flexibility in tricky areas.
I assume you are talking about using a hand masker set up with a roll of drop-down plastic, such as that made by 3M. I have used that system and it works okay. I just find this method quicker and easier. There are many ways to mask off windows. The more somebody practices a particular technique, the quicker they will get. Just make sure it's sealed up tight!
you should have way more views than just 2510....hope one day you will :) thank you for your time and effort in passing on the knowledge.... this is going to help me paint this coming weekend :)
I have tried this method. I actually like to do it this way and I have learned it from watching this video. The only thing that I do not like is the waste. You have a lot of waste doing it this way. But as far as cost, I have not really took that into consideration. I do know that the plastic 4 the masking tool is expensive. This video is for the do it yourselfers. Not for the professional. If a person is going to paint their house and that is it may be a masking tool I would not benefit them.
señores hablen en español que es el idioma más bonito del mundo y mucha gente le iba a entender mucho mejor que es el que más se habla él habla hispana así no nos vamos a enterar de nada
There is an elegance when you see an experienced tradesman demonstrate economy of motion. Wonderful technique, John!
Superb presentation.
No BS, no extraneous chatter.
Well done!
I like these old school techniques.

Concise, accurate and to the point. Nicely done and exactly what I needed to know.

Perfect video!!!
I tuck the extra inside, so don't have to do the cutting step around. But otherwise the same, works well!
lol theres more colors of tape now too
As a painter I do the same as it’s faster and you don’t have a bunch of plastic flying around on a windy day but this looks cleaner as a masking job
brilliant thanks mate.
Thank u best
Red plastic stucco tape is best!
Smart
What kind of plastic and where do you find it?
My method is like John's, but I don't cut off excess plastic around the window.

Or you could use a hand masker and it would make it done faster and easier

Baked in the sun. yes! , Scissors are SAFE to cut plastic , , keep practicing painter .
He said “ white “ tape 😂 oh no
ASMR anybody?
Who down voted this?
..how to never make profit on an exterior
Well, That was Painful! Like +cwrowe and other Pros I'd use a Hand masker.
Having used both methods extensively, I would be willing to "race" anybody and prove that my method is faster and easier. :)
